Fun fact: the Shockwave from Pearl's step-off song counts as Sound-Wave damage (800 at base, but enough knockback to clear out most anything anyway), so depending on disc drop rate, you technically always have something that uses Sound-Wave damage. (Drone Wail, Killer Wail 5.1, and Wavebreaker are the only other things that I know of that are Sound Wave Damage) Edit: Turbine Tower Checkpoint Shockwave also deals Sound Wave Damage.

Fun little thing, the reveal floor boss upgrades actually do have a single useful feature. If you can see what boss it is, you can reroll it. This is super helpful on runs like mono brush because Aint no way im fighting Rondo with brush.

I’ve been doing a lot of monochrome runs lately, and roller was the most fun and POWERFUL (pun absolutely intended) it’s so much fun!

A tip for kraken: Besides cheesing the circle chase map, use it when you're surrounded. If your armour is out and you got launced up, use the special midair since it has a lot of startup before armour. But compared to booyah or crab, other get out of jail free cards, it isn't as good. Edit: My favourite monochrome is either max drone bucket or making my brush sonic

One of my favourite things to do with Roller is going against Async Rondo stacked up on Poison Ink: you keep the base inked and watch the boss slowly die while never directly hitting it until the final layer is at max damage. It may not be efficient, but dang if it isn't satisfying.

notes with the level names, it's a reflection of the level itself, _not_ the background. So "up-and-down_high-tower.floor" is a high tower that goes up and down, "bowl.floor" has a dip in the middle (or raised ends, both equl interpretations) though it may also be something like "ping-ponging" where you have to ping pong back and forth to complete the objective. You... probably SHOULD look at the floor names so you can see what you're up against.

Main firing speed is so important for power monochrome runs! It makes the entire process so much easier, because it allows you to defeat everything so much faster, making things like zones a lot easier.

IT IS NOT JUST YOU!! It took me 26mins with barely any hacks as roller!!!! I now have trauma whenever I see that zone stage 😭

Personally I've found monochrome mobility runs with shivers pallette to be the absolute most fun-

so, a tip for dial zones floors: they will always require you to go back and forth to cath the sprinkler guys. they have a set spawn pattern, often alternating between zones and spawners, so paying attention to that is bery important specifically the map with a bunch of uninkable: quickly cap both zones, and then run TOWARDS the spawners. you want to intercept the sprinkler guys as they spawn in and lure the belugas with sprinklers away from the zone. if you lose the rhythm and let one sprinkler reach the zone, you most likely will have to focus on running away (preferably without splatting jelletons) so you can "reset" to a neutral state before coming up with a strategy to splat the sprinklers at roughly thd same time, capture the zones and try to get back into the rhythm lastly: monochrome runs outside of bias are an RNG nightmare xD i tried one and after 2 hours of resets, finally finished a run with 25 total chips. the membux economy really doesn't play in your favor, or i was very unlucky

Here's a tip... Roller with triple splashdown, because it will give you space when you're in trouble or low on ink, pop one of those, it will give you space. BONUS if you max out on Splash Damage Chips because SPLASHdown!! TRUST ME!! BTW I am starting to identify some floor names... That way I avoid levels where I KNOW I will die. For example.. Any floor with the name Hunted or Open-Season in it is guaranteed to have a sniper in it. And god there are too many of those... Stepping_Stones is a floor with sponges in the middle, often used for turbine tower.. Bombarded(Constant) has the trees that throw the flying arpeggio fish at you. Springing_gateway has the jumping bastards. All_the_way_down(Then_up_again) is turbine level that's selfexplanatory. Powerful_Danger-magnet_divided.floor and Cruel_sisyphean floor (the annoying one where you have to go up a bridge to go to the zones with a jelleton fountain in the middle, the one you claim "horrible", JUST like me fr) are THE WORST splatzone floor if you're a roller... Speaking from experience... KEEP THAT IN MIND, VASKO!! NEVER GO FOR CRUEL_SISYPHEAN LEVEL!! Field-of-explosions.floor is (OFTEN) a single splatzone with an elevated part you can't reach. That's how the arpeggio trees and the clams throwing bombs and mist camp you. Intense_homing is arpeggio level. Whirling-enemies floors have the spinning jerks. Also... With danger levels... You can tell what TYPE of danger it sometimes can be. If it says Covered.Floor at the end, it's entirely covered in enemy ink. I hope these tips will help you a little!

So far my favorite monochrome has been the Splattershot with it's Range Bias. Maxing out Main Range & Ink Coverage. My attempt at the Roller-Power Run was not very lucky with my chips but I look forward to trying again soon. Once I work through all the Biases I'm excited to turn that off. Monochrome runs have been SUPER fun!

Small tip for the 8-shaped sisyphean floor: the sprinklers from one spawner go to one specific zone and vice-versa in such a way that if you can cycle between the zones if the opposite direction they move, killing any that you encounter along the way, you can passively defend 1 zone for over half your trip to the other one. Still sucks, but makes it slightly less torturous

A tip for cruel sysiphiean 8 shaped floor: it's much easier and more time efficient to go below the bridge instead of over top. Glide from one zone to the inkrail on the opposite lower side, use the inkrail to go up to the zone, rinse and repeat ad nasuem. The floor is still... Well, a cruel sysiphisean task, but going down instead of up makes it a lot more manageable. The regular jelleton have a harder time keeping up if you keep swutching sides from below too

I got the exact same stage you were struggling with (splat zones divided danger magnet floor) on floor 28 with stronger jelletons and arpeggio barrage and that cost me my first run

Power-only blaster goes absolutely crazy, but does have ink consumption problems :p

Kraken can also attack by jumping, making it more efficient for still targets

Watching this after I did a roller run red chip. On Cruel Sysiphean I got hit with "No drone and no drops" danger. It took me - no exaggerating - 20 minutes to clear the one floor because I had to keep running back and forth while the Sprinklers kept retaking the zones.

Tips for dantes infernal zone level, use pearl drone to glide it makes it a lot more consistent as you don't need to worry about ink coverage and you can kill the flying guys as you drop from the air

Using Kraken is really simple. In my opinion it's more for rushing into opponents. Granted it doesn't splat in one surge sometimes, but the damage you do is a lot when they're in your ink. Though you can also use it to push your opponents away while you escape from getting suddenly surrounded. Edit: Fun fact, Callie's Pallete was the weapon I used to clear story mode.

I totally agree about Kraken in Side Order.. I don't find it as effective as other specials. Idk I feel like it's so much better in Salmon Run. It just doesn't feel the same. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way 😅

For "Cruel Sisyphean 8-Shaped Floor", exit the cage as soon as possible and ink the zone to your right. Climb the structure and take out the 3 flying enemies that spawn from the spawners before painting the other zone. Return to the first zone by climbing the structure and jumping off the top towards it. You should find 3 more flying enemies heading for the first zone. Now just bounce between the first zone you painted and the spawner atop the structure, killing the flying enemies. You shouldn't ever have to worry about the second zone by doing this.

Kraken tip: use if there are a bunch of enemies or a moderate amount of high level ones.

Nice video! Quick tip though: if you're running Poison Ink and anything related to that ability try to ink ahead if you're on a Zone map. Makes it easier to manage your ink since they'll die walking through your ink while you refill.

Charger monochrome is SO FUN with the right setup. 5 Quick Charge 5 Main Ink Saver 5 Homing I managed to get this setup (or at least close to it) quite early in a run and got to decimate everything in my path for the last 10 floors..

Pro tip for kraken make sure you have a place to retreat and don't get cornered at the edge of the stage or floor try staying in the center of the floor (This is my experience it might not work for everyone)

7:32 You had burst bombs! For the Between-Crosshairs Floor, just stay on the high platform and throw bombs. I figured it out using suction bombs. Only time I ever had to move was when snipers were high enough to shoot me. You have a bomb you can throw you're good. Could probably try it for any of the double splat zone floors. Except the Eight-Shaped Floor I guess...

go all mobility run on dualies, get bunch of extra dodge rolls and rush attack

I haven't done a monochrome run yet, but my favorite weapon in side order has to be the brella.

So you can glide whenever you take a long fall, on the second zones one you struggled on you can glide to each zone. Do so immediately following each zone capture.

I did tried both a (power)slapping run and a (mobiliity)rolling run with roller. I encountered the same problem as you with never having enough ink which is a bummer i couldn't get to floor 30 😅. But the rolling run was much more fun! i had some trouble with the portals but rolling over those pesky critters was therapeutic =v=

My strat for that figure 8 2 zones stage is ink the one closest to you, go up the first incline and jump off to glide to the 2nd zone, fill that and kill the sprinklers. Again go up the first incline and glide to the other zone killing the sprinklers. Ignore every other enemy. If you got good pace you should always be getting to the sprinklers before they ink a zone. Definitely hardest with the roller, but still doable. If you are too slow i kinda just keep repeating and hope it gets back into rhythm lol

24:24 My tip'd be NEVER GO DOWN. Keep moving between the TWO zones and by Gods NEVER STOP MOVING. Hope that helps :)

Funny that Nintendo actually gives out enough PRLZ to complete Side Order in a week or so but on Grizzco it is absolutely impossible to get enough scales to complete the mode even playing daily for years.

On the topic of monochrome runs, I'm so sad octoshot is the other primary power weapon since turning on the hacks needed to make a monochrome run possible on it would also drop the chip count to 6... I wish there was an unlockable way to change weapon biases if not just to make stacking the weapon exclusive chips easier
