Speaking as someone from Atlantic Canada, the way you call the storm path heading "just out to sea" while the model graphics behind it show a direct hit on cape breton island (where we had a direct hit from fiona last year and are STILL picking up the pieces), is frustrating. Sure, it misses the US, but its still going to wreak havok in Canada.

Please keep in mind that people actually do live in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Hurricane Fiona was devastating to many parts of the Canadian maritime provinces. My mum's from PEI and many islanders were hit hard. It flattened whole forests and advanced the coastal erosion that the island is known for way beyond yearly averages.

I agree, it's ridiculous that all the weather stations I listen to all say "we can accurately predict three days ahead with very few changes in the 7 day forecast" and have it change dramatically an hour later. Where when I first watched Ryan back in about late August early September of 2019 when he was saying Texas is going to have a deep freeze while I was there. All I could say is bs cause at that point Texas hadn't had anything like that in 30 years and he was totally accurate and said they haven't had snow since 89 and I was watching other weather channels (news outlets) and they were trying to tell people nowhere in Texas has ever gotten snow in its history which is bs cause my cousin talks about how they get light snow out in deep west Texas (El passo) It just really digs under my skin that people say ryan isn't accurate but yet he's been right about way more in the last 4 years then what I've seen my whole life keeping up with the weather.

Your ability to explain complex topics in a way that non-experts can understand is unparalleled and should be a rolemodel for weathermen everywhere. The EU needs someone like you, who looks at the big picture (the whole continent) and not just one small country. Generally, we have less extreme weather than you Yankees, but it's gotten worse in recent years, and most people are unaware that, yes, we do get extreme rain, dangerous cyclones, tornadoes etc. Greetings from Germany, and don't panic, just be prepared!

@mahande88 8 месяцев назад
I love the fact that you all think Ryan is so good at this stuff, but an actual meteorologist is most times 24 hours ahead of his reporting. For instance, I knew Lee would hit cat 5 status two days ago. All you needed to see was the UL sheer profile and water temps. In this case I think his forecast is wrong. I think the most likely scenario is the storm being farther out to sea. Why? Because CONUS models are notorious for moving cold fronts too slow as they exit the Rocky Mountains. Once the cold air gets to the lee side of the mountain range, the downslope winds dry out and speed up, forcing the front to move faster. I think Bermuda is in for a cat 2 or 3 direct hit. Hopefully they get lucky and the eyewall over rotates sometime today and has to reorganize.

One thing I find amazing; Back in my day the nightly news ran for thirty minutes, not much time to cover all the news of the day and only a few minutes for weathermen to give their forecast. Then along came 24 hour news cycles, God help us all, and we even have the “weather channel” that was at least one time a dedicated and in depth weather source. But Ryan, oh Ryan (and the y’all squad) come along and knock it out of the park in ten minutes every time! He not only delivers the local stuff but on a large scale as well then explains, more accurately teaches, what and why the weather is doing and all the while humble enough to explain forecast are often wrong but shows best & worst possibilities so we can be prepared. You can always tell when someone is passionate about their work. Thank you for doing what you do Ryan!

I live in Toronto but like several people below I love Ryan's folksy but scientific explanations of weather. I wish we could build a replica town in this hurricane's path just to remind us of what sort of devastation would cause were it to hit land as a cat-5. I do worry that parts of Eastern Canada and perhaps even sections of New England might get hit by a post-tropical storm. You brought up Sandy, but for those in my area with long memories Hurricane Hazel in the 1950s merged with a low-pressure area from northern Canada and did lots of damage, and took several lives in the Toronto area.

Sandy was bad for NY area but here in Newport RI, it wasn’t bad at all. I remember when Gloria hit in 85 and Bob in 91. Those were serious hurricanes. Gloria hit us at high tide and it was a moon tide at that. My island got trashed. 100’+ yachts took out traffic intersections. Trees down everywhere. We didn’t have power for a week and a half. It was crazy. I remember being outside when the eye wall came and went. One of the coolest things my eyes have ever seen. Bob wasn’t as bad but it tore us up pretty well too. Trees and power lines downed everywhere. Crazy waves at all the beaches for days.

I live in New Jersey...only about 50 or 60 miles away from the Atlantic Ocean. Usually, I like living in this state. But, when hurricane season is here, it makes me wish I lived far away from the ocean...maybe in Minnesota or Wisconsin. With *Hurricane Lee* coming, this is one of those times when I wish I was in the Upper Midwest region. I hope Lee will be a "fish storm", but with even a slight probability that it could cause direct impacts, my anxiety and stress can't handle this. I went through both Irene in 2011 and Sandy in 2012. Both storms wreaked havoc around here, although Sandy was much worse than Irene. Curiously, we also had a storm named Lee (possibly in 2011, but I'm not sure) that brought a *LOT* of rain around here. There was so much flooding that my family and I had to evacuate from our home for a few hours until the floodwaters receded.

Thanks Ryan. I share your channels and info on the Ya'll Squad every day. Today, I was talking about Hurricane Lee with a small chance of landfall to 4 people in the area. I spoke of your extended Live Streams and how the Squad is 'boots on the ground' immediately after a storm. Living in East North Carolina, I've been through many storms. Florence hit us hard. We were without power for a week, and everything was flooded. Interstate 95 was closed in many areas. Entire towns had lots of water and no power. Our area had a freak storm the week prior that dropped over 9 inches of rain; Florence gave us over 14 inches. Sorry for this long post. I am extremely grateful knowing you are there to keep us informed.

Right on the east coast of Virginia here near the NC border, if this hurricane makes landfall here it'll be the strongest one I ever lived through. Might be the first time I actually evacuate for one. Safe to say the potential of making landfall where I am is a bit scary, that's never happened before in my lifetime. Usually we get hurricanes that make landfall around South Carolina or lower down and are weaker by the time they get here.

Hi Ryan Today was The Labor Day Parade in New York City. I noticed the sky had gotten cloudy by the time I left home. I prayed that whatever was brewing with the weather was to wait. Walked in the parade, it was so humid, the leaders pass some fans to keep us cool. I kept glancing up to the sky. It seemed like the sun wanted to get through the clouds. It did. But when I looked towards my right side to the sky, there were dark, gray clouds. The parade finished at 1pm. The humidity was so bad. I walked to the subway. Once it reached a station in the Bronx area and the train doors open, water was falling like if we when under the water fall. The train moved slowly to the next station, doors open a hugh splash of water would fall, than came the thunder and lighting. Was this weather had to do with Hurricane Lee coming to the east coast or the season of summer is ending and fall is coming. I watch your weather reports and it's precise. Thank you and all those who assist you to report the weather. Thanks again.❤❤❤❤❤
