One of my proudest moments was killing it as Dark Magician before Timaeus was released. I had to hold them off until I managed to get enough materials on board for Access Code Talker.
@@spyreofthewolves8125 I know. Most ritual spells do specifically say the monster in its text. Which means Konami specifically and deliberately went out of their way to make sure it wasn't stated and to this day we Blue-Eyes enthusiasts still feel cheated.
Now we have Dragon Magia Master (currently in the OCG) to help BE players to cheese out Chaos MAX by using the Big D*** Ritual as a fusion material with Ultimate Fusion. And when the card leaves the field, you get a free Chaos Max as a backup. Making the ritual process obsolete. It kinda shows how slow the original intention is when put into practice.
lol don’t wanna be that one guy cap but ruling check time! You can’t search chaos MAX with pre-prep as its name is not specifically listed on the ritual spell chaos ritual says any chaos ritual not chaos max itself so therefore you can’t search it with pre prep lol
The number of people who were making that mistake at the time is astonishing. Even today it continues... The fact Chaos Max was not searchable by Pre-Prep was probably one of the biggest reasons it never got off the ground, in my opinion.
@@doubl2480 definitely interesting! though I will say I don’t think even if Chaos MAX was searchable off of pre-prep it wouldn’t have made much of a difference just would make builds a little more consistent but still not enough to keep up with other mega decks at the time as you’re still running a ritual deck and it’s a blue eyes deck at that which is most known for having the nick name brick eyes by the community as builds can have clogging hands with too many high level monsters
People are saying it but I think if you could Summon MAX off of pre-prep the deck would have seen a lot more use. MAX decks problems were infamously consistency from what I remember.
I actually did very well with Chaos MAX at locals back in 2017 when those Extra Deck limitations came into effect (can't remember the Master Rules number); came Top 4!
Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon does work against decks that only target and/or destroy for removal, which has happened in Master Duel on occasion. I still try to make Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon, Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon, and Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon work, and keep running them all in Blue-Eyes even though they aren't the best. One of these days I want to build Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician irl and try to make the anime stuff work, not that I care about competitive Yu-Gi-Oh.
So because labyrinth and kashtira have only effects that target, if u get chaos max out and they don’t have like a kaiju or something then they basically can’t do anything
@@taranfravel4402depends not necessarily ppl do run non target removal and Chaos Max is protected from just targeting and destruction. For example a lab deck could be running quaking mirror force the chaos max and rest monsters would be flipped and stuck facedown. Just one example their are plenty of non target removal options those decks could run.
@@Citizen_Nappa23 yeah I would think that but I’ve never seen them run those cards tho, it’s always the same 4 cards, welcome, big welcome, and the 2 monsters, never see them run anything else so chaos max or tyrant will almost always win
Correction: On the day this video is uploaded, it is no longer the highest Ritual attack ritual monster. That title goes to Drytron Meteonis Alpha Draconids (DAD)
I remember one of my “heart of the card” moments, I was playing in Dueling Nexus, was trying out the new Dark Magician supports at the time, and the opponent was using a freaking Blue-Eyes deck. He got chaos max out and I almost surrendered because he wiped my board and I had 0 hand cards. Literally was about to press surrender, then drew Palladium Oracle Mahad. I was so bamboozled and I wished I recorded it. Went on to win that duel two turns later hahahaha. Now, whenever I build a Dark Magician deck, be it ygopro, or Master Duel, I make sure to put at least one Mahad due to my love for that card hahaha
Such an informative video. Still, despite it all, Chaos MAX is my all-time favorite Blue-Eyes card. I know it's a brick, as are all Blue-Eyes cards, but I love this brick. It's well protected from effects (like Obelisk) and can deal double damage. Plus, its design: white with blue wing, talons, and claws, and the card's board is blue, a color I love, and both it and its generic CHAOS sibling are the only Blue-Eyes cards that are DARK.
It's biggest impact was being responsible for a line from a certain Dueling Book judge that will forever live on in infamy. "Stop saying Chaos Max he's not playing it!"
I splashed it in a Drytron deck with Book of Moon as a cheese deck because you know how people love to go first they dont expect to see a Chaos Max one shot their boss card that has 0 Def. ...then even if they dont get one shot they have to play around an untargetable 4k beater that will end the duel on its next attack. I would just side deck the entire engine for the Herald engine for game 2 and its gg
I think the big issue Max had from a competitive stand point was that it released in the same set as Crystal wing synchro dragon, a card that was in a lot of extra decks, wasnt too hard to make and answers it by itself. Why play towers turbo when your towers is easily answered by an extra deck staple of the time
I used to run one copy of Chaos max in my Drytron deck when Master Duel just launch, it sometimes catches people off guard when I have a bad hands and they assume I have no ability to otk them
Reason it doesn't get played is because it's locked to ritual summoning which means you have to commit to setup for a ritual summon. If it was an Effect Blue Eyes monster it would see alot more play. But because you have to commit too so many resources to a ritual summon you barely see it played. Card itself is good not great but a pretty strong Blue Eyes Boss monster would see alot more play if it wasent a ritual monster.
I noticed in this meta that a lot of top decks either targets or destroys. I have won games just having that protection. They have to go out of their way to get rid of those cards, say Zeus for example. MAXX is just hard to bring out thanks to being a ritual monster, and blue eyes like to fusion, not ritual.
You cant search off prep but you can with impcantation. Impcantation can search both the ritual spell and monster and also give your opponent 0 def bodies which can open up windows to otk
This was my first deck in master duel which got me into the game, I still have good success with it, it’s easy to search with manju or bingo machine go that can be searched with true light which also searches chaos form and sonic bird, and then slap in some blue eyes and alt and jet and some generic staples ie monster reborn raigeki magic cylinder ash maxx c and imperm etc and you got a pretty reliable first turn kill if they have anything in defense position
We had a few guys playing it at my locals when it came out. Couldn't stand a chance against my cyber dragons though lol. I'd always either swing over it or kaiju it away
Chaos max is bad because it does nothing when it hits the board. It doesn’t do anything to actually advance your gameplay/change the board state in any way.
The house known as the Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck has a BUTT TON OF BRICKS. Even with all of the polish it had in 2016, adding 4-6+ bricks wasn't worth the effort, or risk of having something so powerful be dead in hand. Sadly, the power-ups in 2018's Legendary Duelists 3 didn't help it either with it being reprintedd in the set, and a lo-rent version in Blue-Eyes Chaos Dragon. Luckily, the big boy got some love in Master Duel when it dropped there, but that is still short lived. Sadly, the updated engine of destruction is nothing more than a glory days piece now that was succeeded by Kite and the Galaxy-Eyes deck.
There is an easy way to fix this problem although it could open doors to new problems If you have a ritual spell card, just make it so that the monster can also be special summon from the deck but you can see why this will be a huge problem.
Now adays, it's pretty easy to summon my favorite is. Sage normal summon effect to get stone of ancient. Next turn place stone linkburioh it away end phase special summon abyss use effect to summon the ritual piece and the dragon. (Yes im aware link getting banned)
I still love battle tricks and battle-centric decks. I'm such a bad player, so the shorter the game and fewer lines I need to run, the greater my chance at winning.
@@justinbrown4045 Even I would never touch that 💩 Mind you, I used to run an ultra-jank Cyberdark OTK deck in 2017-2018 before the Cyber Style structure deck dropped. That ish topped locals every time I ran it 🤡
Honestly if I could legally search it with pre-prep my life would have been golden but sadly you cant. Searchability would have made turboing it out with impcantation, megalith, or drytron 20x easier. The biggest obstacle for me was always getting it on the field.
Usually one of my favorite Blue-Eyes Decks that has become completely niche! I still love playing with this deck but I hope to one day bring it to prominence if the right kind of support for generic ritual monsters can work out. Luckily I combined it with a Level 8 dragon that helps but not by much.😂
MORE vids I have an idea for new master rule. Want to know what you think. So here it is both players can't summon or set monster's till turn 3 of the duel but both players can set spell/ traps which can't be activated till turn . I think this would make people play traps again not sure if this fixes the game but it would be intresting. The duel would go something like this. Turn 1 player A sets 2-3 cards and then passes turn player B sets a few of their own then passes over to player A. The rule which prevents either player activating them till turn 3 means you shouldn't get them cosmic-ed ect. I know this could have issues but it would be interesting to see what would happen if they did this. Or at least try it out on master duel.
Seems like reveal from hand and discard effect would run rampant. The slow build up would be under cut by token creation. Cards with graveyard effects would also play quicker.
I use him lol I got a dark magician deck and use the normal blue eyes to fuse with dark magician use magicians rod to get out chaos form and pre-preparation of rights… it’s a flood gate deck secret village of the spell caster, magicians left and right hand
Love this card.... Too bad even I didn't use it during the 2016 Blue-Eyes format where I won my first ever tournament. Too clunky and 'resource' demanding.
Doesn't this include EVERY card in OG series? Toon world anyone, Toon monsters in general!? Dude was supposed to have the power to not only cheat, BUT he also manufactured said game of monster's...and still lost...because "The Heart of the Cards"
That's until Duel Links came around; wirh the new skills (Blue Eyes dimension and Duelist Chronicle) it's dirty easy to bring out, search and OTK with it.
It never saw play because it was a bricky card in an already bricky deck. It wasn't the format preventing it from being good otherwise it would have popped up every now and then. Only reason Blue-eyes even won worlds is because every other deck was hit to the point of unplayable except Blue-eyes, BA, and Pendulum which Spirit Dragon shut down both. It's a horrible card in bad deck.
Forreal flood gate thunder end dragon thr azure eyes snychro by the time you make it with all of there lack of. Flood gate deferal and completely damage related flood gate levels. And how overwhelminf board gets. You kind want to see it with a bunch of blues eyes. Control or it dumb -_-
The current meta game isnt making on thingover. Your 50 flood gates but if i was staring at the blue eyes extra deck on board properly. With it. At some point snake eyes suck to it because i cant deal with the overwhelming attcks and flood gates you can push at it repeatedly now rememeber chaos max is awesome but dont make it the end all be all unless it can end that fight right there i literally was short. Attack for it. Like 5 hours ago but. It tapping into dragulbion and making numeron dragon to get the kills what. Can happen a million differentways to win with blue eyes off . The taps and the heavier control monsterthey can summon in in between him needing to exist
*Vader breathez heavy* crazy how FAMOUS YUGITUBERZ dont have enough time/money ta go ta ah LOCALZ n watch @ least 1 lil kid play this bullshit... if u region locked cap then d@z ah U problem but this deck doez have representation @ tha localz level... *Vader breathez heavy*
Bro I keep seeing this card super easy your decks are built bad bro chaos max literally can just be there at times the thing is you wan to focus it when you should be pooping out blue eyes monsters to make shit. That can not be fucked with by. Easy means then if while getting the search for it up. Nothing can fuck with you when you already had 2 blue eyes in the grave a true light. A tyrant dragon draglubion and. The synchro on board. Or. Blue eyes fusion and my dude or numeron dragon and. All the other. Photon monsters that can randomly pop in between. Chaos max is a header because it's a good late game.clean up not because you want to see it instantly. With your non popped true light you. That would just kill it -_-
