I assume SM7B presence boost was set to flat here, and no bass rolloff engaged? I tend to use the SM7B with presence boost engaged, which is actually it's sound straight from the unidyne capsule. In 'flat' position, a 1st order LC bandstop is engaged on top, to tame the natural unidyne capsule presence peak (as known from SM57 and SM58). With the SM7B, preamp choice has a big influence on how it sounds, too, as it has no built in preamp nor is it transformer coupled. I made good experience with a 1073DPA. MKH416 sounds crisper, but yes: it pics up too much room reverb in this setting.

In a more controlled environment the MKH 416 has a more natural sound to it. With Davinci Resolve it is not too hard to clean it up either. Yes, the SM7b was set to flat without any eq done on it. In Resolve I would apply high pass and bring bass down slightly for a more natural sound. I am by far not a sound expert, but have become more and more intrigued by it over the last few months. That was another reason why I enjoyed the mkh 416 so much. Very little EQ needs to be done to get excellent sound out.
