This distinction seems to be required now since so many people are confused by these words. The great philosopher and mystic Franklin Merrell-Wolff went so far as to distinguish in all his aphorisms either "consciousness with an object" or "consciousness without an object." One time I was thinking about "consciousness without an object" and it suddenly occurred to me that, if there was no content, then there's no difference between mine or anyone else's, even animals and all living things. So it really was possible for there just to be one consciousness that we all share. This realization happened at a deep level and was my first experience of "Oneness" or "unity consciousness." Thank you!
… also, I’ve been trying to grasp the distinction between awareness and consciousness, or the absolute and the I am, for a long time. It just became clear as I listened to your reading of Nisargadatta. 🙏🏼
Really glad to have cleared that up 🙏🙏. I read and re-read Nisargadatta, all of his dialogues, meditated over his words and pointers over the course of many months to clear this up for myself. It is a crucial distinction and everything will fall into place now that you're past it.

Deepening peace, though mind still tries to hold certain beliefs as “mine”. But it can be seen that they are all emptiness, along with all apparently solid objects and beings.
