It's funny how, given the fact he was standing there watching it happen anyway, the cigarette lighter trigger wasn't even really necessary except to make sure there's no manual detonator to link the killing back to.
Seriously it's like going out of your way to start a fight with Godzilla and King Kong, they were already bad enough on their own and more than anyone could deal with.
1:21 This guy is very dedicated to his job for doing this, and his reaction implies that he knew he was risking his life starting the car. I hope he got paid well and paid BEFORE the explosion😂
This may come as a surprise to you, but three of my mates and I used to do this in real life, and we weren't the only ones. After a night out, the designated driver would walk to the vehicle whilst everyone else stood at a safe distance. The designated driver would then start the car and drive a short distance. If it didn't go off bang, the rest of us got in and went home. I foolishly mentioned this to my mother whilst on leave, and she nearly had a heart attack. Some people just don't have a sense of humour. Mind you, none of my civilian friends saw the funny side, either.
I wasn't aware of the film until I saw it mentioned on twitter after the RNC convention. I looked up the lyrics in Engllish, the powerful bit at the end says "I will win, I will win, I will win!" So it's a doubly powerful message.
1:50 ... In Baltimore, the Nuke was hidden in the Cigarette Vending Machine. Here, the bomb was hidden in a Cigarette Lighter.. "I am told that these things can kill you."
Would have been nice if they had followed the book. The bomb wasn't at full strength because the terrorists killed the guy building it before it was finished. It still destroyed the stadium and the description of the bodies being burned alive in their chairs was gruesome. Probably would have been too much for this movie. Might have been why they changed that part.
The effects of the blast world be greatly reduced due to the bomb being detonated at the ground level, for better effect it needs to be detonated at an optimum altitude, determined by the yield

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the original point of the opera which was spending the whole night avoiding elite guards for the hand of the one he loves. But I'm sure you considered that too.
@@smithjack1741 ......Your comment is completely irrelevant and pointless. The song has nothing to do with the scene except the last phrase "I will win". The point of Trump choosing this song was because it takes you to this scene where the traitors that attempted to assassinate the president met justice. Why so many people have to be difficult in understanding basic context is beyond me.
Whilhem Dafoe (I hope I got it right), who also portrayed the role of The Goblin in the movie Spiderman, and played a major role in the movie Platoon, was the first actor who played John Carter in the movie Clear and Present Danger starring Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan.
John Clark is an Irish Catholic New Englander according to the novels. Willem Dafoe played the part best so far. I think Mark Wahlberg, Sean Bean, or Sean Patrick Flanery would all do a great John Clark. It's really too bad that Hollywood raped the novel Without Remorse. I've never seen a worse adaptation... and no, not just because they lifted their virtue on high and cast Michael Jordan's son, but because the only similarity to the book is that it was an ex SEAL that got pissed and killed some people. I've been waiting for that movie for 28 years and couldn't be more disappointed. Hopefully, they'll do it right one day.
@@StrongHarm I was in the Army for 20 years starting in 1993. Without Remorse is the Book i took on every deployment. I remember back in the late 90's talking about who would be best to play Clark from the beginning. To see what Amazon did to my favorite book made me unsubscribe from them.
"Why, you may take the most gallant sailor, the most intrepid airman or the most audacious soldier, put them at a table together- what do you get? The sum of their fears". Winston Churchill
The only missed detail is that throat slitting isn't done like that in the real world. They go in from the side of the neck, cutting edge forward. Takes out two carotid arteries and keeps most of the bleeding contained within the neck. Minimal blood splatter, harder to leave traces.

This is how peace is made. Up front on the surface the leaders sign, shake and take pictures. Behind the scenes their respective secret services eliminate their mutual enemies.
@@raymeester7883 Yes, but they completely changed who the revenge was being meted out to. It is as if at the end of the "Godfather, " the Corleones kill Yakuza instead of rival Mafiosi.
Small detail, but... 1:11 As a security officer, you never leave your client ALONE outside his house in front of the street ! The protected person should remain inside until the car is ready to go. Especially if there is an heavy threat on her life. This bit is unrealistic. Doesn't matter anyway...
He's not a security guy, he's Dressler's assistant. Dressler doesn't realize he's been exposed, so he's just doing his normal routine. Part of that routine is, apparently, having someone else start his car for him.
There should definitely have been more than one, if they had been a security detail. No point taking the primary to the car with you, if it is a bombing, you are both dead.
It's the problem with all Clancy books being made into films. They're not suited for that. A Hollywood film is just under 2 hours with only 3 acts consisting of an A plot and 1, maybe 2 B plots and that's it. Clancy's stuff is much better in streaming with an ensemble that can take its time.
@@sethzwicker3631 You just described all films that are adapted from books. Different medium, different storytelling methods, different audience. The problem comes when those who read the books expect the same experience. It can rarely be achieved.

it always seemed odd to me how easy they got off for a plot that resulted in the nuking of a city. Quick and largely painless deaths. Goes to show this was made before the GWOT and people coming to understand that we can be much more brutal when we want to be.
My favorite scene is the Russian Intel chief standing behind the President ( The Russian Presidents most trusted advisor ) gently telling him to hold off on launching his nuclear missiles while all the Russian Generals were urging him to attack now by telling him " What is the harm in listening to him a bit longer " ( Talking about Jack Ryan on the phone explaining what really happened )And the Russian Intel chief disappears into the shadows behind the President after leaning over him to tell him that advice.
Well, at least Russian justice is somewhat public, the perpetrators looked the convict in the eye while they were liquidating him, those other two murders are very insidious - I don't like that way, even if it was murder.
Yeah well thas what i would do to assholes like that i may be Roman Catholic but i bathe in his blood if i was in the c.i.a and in that line of work for them
@@jerromedrakejr9332 in America we really have it made. Going to prison is like going to the Hilton. You get pampered and we'll taken care off. Unlike Russia prison really feels like Prison or put a bullet to your head that simple.
At .26, with forearms like that, the terrorist didn't have a chance against him. And Alen Bates- there wasn't anything left of him after his car exploded.
