4:12 And this is why you are the GOAT to me! I honestly see so many people in my environment that live in shitty neighbourhoods in shitty appartments and they wear gold watches in the subway whilst wearing LV sneakers. 🤦🏻♂️ It doesn’t make any sense to me. 😵💫 Great video Michael!
You said it yourself; "the market is cooling off" and thankfully it's about time. It was mental for a few years. Regardless, us enthusiasts will win in the end! Good to have you back to uploading, mate. We missed you!!
Great breakdown! Gold watch seems like a watch when a professional hits a major milestone and has other watches to wear too. Definitely gold watch is not a daily watch unless all time celeb that likes the attention.
I bought the sd43 like new in the us for 12.5 usd I’m enjoying it bought In last two weeks it came down a lot 😊also have jc deep sea love both I used to wear 40mm ceramic sub date . Too many people wear them wanted to be little different the SD 43 does it got me .
Michael, dude the bluesy looked so good on you! Also, you mentioned in the video that you are possibly hunting for your FU** watch. I think the bluesy definitely serves that purpose and looks masculine without being super flashy/harder to pull off like a solid gold watch. I like your idea of possibly getting two tone Daytona or even solid stainless steel Daytona. I totally agree with you that your watch should fit your persona and lifestyle or else it looks weird on the person. A watch should enhance your look and show off a little bit of your personality. Love your content. 👊
Hi Michael, I agree about the stickers. If you resist taking them off, you probably should not have bought it. I also think big watches are trending smaller again. Cheers!
Hi Michael, I truly appreciate these types of videos. I just picked up my new 41 mm new lighter green bezel submariner, was I totally mistaken about the size. Just like you I was under the impression that it would wear a lot larger than my 2020 116610 LN 40mm sub date. I would like to advise that since my purchase, I have gifted my 40mm sub to my son, who of course is elated. On that note I actually prefer the fit of the new version. The only thing I thought that I would change would be the slightly larger clasp and that as well has worked out remarkably visually well for me. I was totally wrong. The case is slightly thinner. The lugs are 1mm bigger but hardly noticeable as the tapper works remarkably well and the clasp somehow integrates flawlessly. If and when possible give it a try and although I understand your point but I to was under the same impression and now that it’s on my wrist I believe that it has been my favorite watch of all time and trust me when I tell you as it has been over 30 years of having a Rolex on my wrist. From my first sub to gmt’s , date dates and explorer’s. Thanks for your videos as always.
Michael, many thanks for your well wishes and I as well wish you and your family nothing but the best, of course health first and then the rest will follow. I just followed you on instagram a few minutes ago lol 😊
Just found your channel and really like your approach. In terms of the pre-ceramic GMT, I would contemplate going full on vintage and getting a 1675 with an original red back insert.
Hi Michael! As a new Submariner owner as of last October, it's kind of nice to hear someone else out there that are as passionate about the Submariner as myself. I am curious, however, as a pretty big guy, what attracted you more to the Submariner than the Sea Dweller? Is it the cyclops, rather the lack of a cyclops? For me, my dream watch since I was 12 was the Submariner (No date) and finally at 45 I was able to afford one and it will be my one and only watch until I take my last break - just love this watch.
Rolex prices are definitely cooling in US especially on pre-ceramic subs and explorer 1/2. People and just dumping them now after paying 2x retail 8 months ago😂
People who buy sports cars sometimes have protective plastic applied, especially on the front of the car, to maintain the appearance of the paint. Many, if not most people purchase screen protectors for their phones and tablets. There is nothing wrong with taking steps to protect something. Whether you can afford to maintain or replace it or not. Metal bracelets are prone to scratching obviously. That's why I tend to take them off eventually and wear straps made of other materials. It's good to have options!
I get the somewhat comparative point Ray. Just don’t agree with the mental mechanism behind it for a watch. I had ppf on a car before but the car was exposed to the bitter elements constantly and you definitely sell a car eventually - not always a watch.
@@SteelmoonWatches Isn't it cool that there are options though? If peel and stick protection isn't one's cup of tea, nothing wrong with that either. We live in good times when it comes to options.
Some people put a product called 'ceramic' coating on cars. It's not any kind of ceramic, rather its some clear liquid chemical that offers shine and theoretically scratch and chip protection. Anyone ever try this on a steel watch?
7,300 pound is incredible for the SD50. Dang. But it really is a chunk, and not the most versatile. Loving my 114060 which I picked up thanks to your fantastic reviews.
I cannot pull off a solid gold watch. I certainly don’t fit that lifestyle. The same could be said about a dress watch. I don’t wear suits to an office five days per week. But, gold on a watch still holds certain appeal for me. I will compromise, I will get a two tone Datejust 41 Wimbledon. I’ve already asked my AD, so no turning back. If I wait a little longer I could probably get one under retail. But there might be other stuff I may want in the future, so just keep the relationship going.. But yes, the market is most certainly softening..
Hey Michael, this is just a random comment on your videos in general. I have to say I pretty much agree with everything you say, not just on watches, but from annoying Gen-Zers wearing watches that make them look like idiots, to enjoying big breakfasts in the morning. I really like the style of your videos, they are just straight up like a conversation, not all the production stuff the other watch videos do. I also enjoy the real life perspective of wearing the watches that you provide and your philosophies regarding various watches. I too am a car guy and I would welcome a video here and there on your opinions on sports cars. I take it you are a BMW fan? I'm a Rolex fan for watches and a Ferrari & Porsche fan for cars. I'm kind of sad to see the combustion engine era phasing out. I'm very sad to think that the Ferrari 812 Superfast (which is my current favorite sports car) may be one of the last naturally aspirated production models. Anyways, just random chitchat and thoughts, nothing specifically related to this video, but keep up the great work and I look forward to future videos. Thanks!
Thanks mate. Glad you enjoy the lazy production hehe. As for cars, yes many are going electric because they are being sold the ‘’money saving’ feature for electric cars - and people will do anything to save money and get money - look at the last few years. I like all German cars, wasn’t always an Audi fan though! Maybe a car video one day will be an idea. 👍🏼
Personally, I have my sights on a gold FU watch. Something cool and comfortable I would wear regularly but obviously not the watch to take to a favela (I have my Doxa for that with it’s unbelievably crisp dial). I'm a jeans kind of guy, so a Zenith Daytona yellow gold white dial, for that vintage charm and comfort and that I can dress up or dress down, and share with my woman. Or maybe a gold Tank française or Santos Dumont, I'll go and try them out to see if they fit my casual vibe, they may be too dressy.
I 100% agree with you on the gold watch, you need to have the whole life style. I do understand guys putting stickers on their watches (don't think I would do it myself), if they bought a sports Rolexes on the grey market. After you wear it daily it's going to tank the price but to be fair I don't see too many Rolex with much wear, they all get a light polish most likely and to many investment watches in the safe as well. Shame to hear you sold the Bluesy, I thought it really suited you well. What was the main reason for letting it go?
By the way, yesterday I stopped by my favorite watch dealer and tried on three watches: a gold Zenith Daytona black dial (the ultimate FU watch, felt great!) , a pre-ceramic Daytona black dial (my wife loved it, its more discrete but oozes class) and a James Cameron (total wrist presence and surprisingly wearable). Pricing aside, it would be hard to choose, they are all great watches. But the pre-ceramic Daytonas are relatively cheap at the moment, for about 20k, and in my opinion they have more charm than the ceramics.
Could you do a video about the first swiss made watch that you ever bought and what made you buy it...... And how your tastes have evolved from then to now.... And do you still have that first watch or did you let go and regret?
Been watching off and on for a bit. Good stuff. It’s funny you were really into big watches with SD and panerai. Now you’re thinking smaller is better as that may be trending. Have you tried on a Daytona?! Can’t hardly read the time it is tiny. But I wear larger stuff and close (hopefully) to a big pilot purchase. That’s a whole new deep dive that’s fun getting into
The Daytona sounds like another bluesy type of watch for you! Market feels like it’s cooling but more like an undercurrent atm. I’ve got an okay spend history and been waiting nearly 18 months for a DJ. Mint green fluted motif dial. Might never get the call!
Good content. Thanks. I’m in the 🇺🇸. Looking for a bluesy. Used. So you recommended the 116613? I have seen them on Moda for 13-14k gently used. Is that a good price? Or should I wait longer?
Hey my friend, I don’t mean to be disrespectful but that sub pre-ceramic looks like you are wearing a coin 25cents on your wrist, the sd43 looked badass on you because you are a big guy, you shouldn’t go less than 41 in my opinion
I think the Sub pre-c looks more badass, matte and better proportioned in every possible way, even on us with larger wrists and arms. You need to be brutally bigger than average male for the 40-41mm divers to look unproportionall and tiny - not the case (no pun intended) here :-)
@@muratakay100 none taken, we all love watches and have different taste, I live in Miami and women wear day just 41 so here people like big watches, I have to say the sd43 is not an every day watch but it looks badass on weekends
The GMT Chrono24 non-seller: maybe he already sold it outside of the marketplace, which Chrono24 would penalize him for, so he to pretend its still for sale, and has to keep the ad up for the full six months before Chrono24 will allow him to take it down.
Well he’s been holding it for 6 months then and still listening to offers lol. Upon a recent catch up with him, Probably a good thing I avoided it - apparently some of the lettering is coming off
Mike…all gold? Come off it mate - you’ll have to get full tatted sleeves then 😂 It’s funny I always thought bluesy (or at least whenever I see it here) was a bit of a blingy/Eff You watch. It actually did look good on you too. Agree on stickers. What a waste. Use the bloody watch! Take ‘em on adventures, scuff them up and make memories! When you pass them on they’ll have meaning then.
Normal summer price phenomenon. Do not sell your watch in the summertime 😊 As for the FU watch, get yourself an Haofa Tourbillon Sapphire Rainbow watch🌈😁💪 For the Daytona: Steel
Have to disagree with you on the Starbucks. Two different watches can’t have the same name. But I’m with you on the 41, not a fan of that bracelet and clasp. Plastic on watches is too much.
I’m not sure bro, like me you have some heft to you. You really shouldn’t be going lower than 40mm. A daytona is 38.5 true; it just won’t look right IMO
The supercase on the sub to me looks uneven… it’s in the shape of a square and the bracelet is too narrow. The watch looks off… the SD43 is far superior and actually feels like it’s worth the price. If you’re training and diet is making you feel like your watch is too heavy then you are losing muscle mass. You have dark circles around your eyes which indicates malnutrition and exhaustion.
@@SteelmoonWatches Good move. I find those octagon shaped watches and even the square Heuer Monaco too 90's for my taste and a little too cheesy for my taste and anything from that period just doesn't date well.
@@SteelmoonWatches I like the steel on steel look of the 1226 - seems in line with authentic pam. Take your point about watch sizing and I'm usually 40 or lower but for pams I think 44 is the correct sizing
