This is the best watch channel because I hear an ENTHUSIAST approaching watching on an analytical and passion level instead of a “reviewer” who reads a specs sheet. Congrats Michael, you really hit a niche and it is a matter of time before you take off! I can relate to the part about bracelets. 4:40 For some reason, the bracelet detemines like 60% of the experience wearing a watch. It is strange and a bit too much but it is how I feel. This is why I appreciate nato straps: It evens out the playing field. If I can fall in love with a watch on a nato strap, I know that this watch is for me. Thanks for the video Michael, keep it up!
I bought a 14060M last month and still on the honeymoon. Can't take it off my wrist. Feeling guilty for ignoring my other watches. This model is definitely right for me. Thanks for the video.
Stumbler upon your channel and have watched all parts of your date/no-date journey. Like others have mentioned, just hearing a watch guy's musings about watches is so refreshing in a sea of click bait watch channels. Keep it up!
My dream watch since I was 12 years old was the Submariner (No Date) and I finally got the call in October after only a 4.5 month wait. I absolutely adore this watch. It's my everyday watch and will be until I take my last breath.

I appreciate your style as always. My sub-date 126610 gets more wrist time than the no date. I find myself using the date constantly. However, there is no denying the clean look of the no date.
That's why I have a 2007 16610 and 2021 124060. Similar choice dilemma but in that particular configuration it worked for me. I enjoy them both equally. Love all your videos Mike as they are close to my heart. Cheers mate.
One trick I heard for guys that like a date watch like you and me, that could work If your are not full ocd. Was to use your bezel or your chrono hand to mark the date on a non date watch! For exemple today is 11 so you place your bezel on the 11th mark of the dial. Sure the bezel is not at 12oclock like usual and you have to remember to put it back at the 11th if you time something else but it can help you to remember the current date.
Great choice. The submariner no date has the purist and rugged appeal--even if most of us use the bezel to boil pasta and eggs rather than explore the ocean deeps, haha. A pre-ceramic GMT would be great--especially one with patina on the dial and bezel
Good choice mate. No date sub and SD 4k should have all your diver needs sorted. Add a 16710 GMT master II and that would be a near perfect 3 watch collection. Do you still have the Bluesy? Great channel 👍
Great choice (but you can’t go wrong). I had the 16610 (sold it, as we do), but now thinking about the 14060M. Just finding one in great condition and at a reasonable price is the challenge
Great vid.... I used to have a 14060 and now have a 124060 which personally I think I favor a bit more. Super curious as to whether or not you still have the GP laureato? I am very interested in that watch, although deciding between a blue or silver dial would be tough.... I know at one point you were trying to acquire the GP in silver- did that ever happen and if so which color do you favor? If you no longer have (either) watch what changed your love for it? Hi mate. Adored the blue GP, size wise I was just stuck between two links and couldn’t get the right fit which was annoying me. Was either too loose or too tight.
The point with the serial number is really cool and for me the Submariner is the better watch. Also the lume is better, because you don't have the empty spot on 3 a clock.
Hey Mike, you made a small but big point! I've not tried on a 14060m or owned one but do have 2 x 16610's and 2 x 16600 both with slight variations in dial text thickness and it actually makes a difference - There's 8 dial variations on the 16610 - One of mine is an mint condition 02" drilled lugs, sel with a mk3 dial - Lovely thick text and the other a worn slightly bashed 08 engraved rehault, with a mk8 dial from memory and there's a difference...ever so slight but actually it's massive for someone who's into watches - The thick text is lovely and more toolish on the mk3 dial if that makes sense - Almost a little playful / cartoonish in comparison with the mk8. It's the same with my SD 16600's one's a T25 96" in mint condition and the other a bashed 00" I think it has a service dial and the text isn't as pronounced - It's refined to the point of being too thin and err elegant on a "Professional Tool". Basically there's a difference which is so minor yet so major haha! I think this difference would only effect the proper 5 digit enthusiast / collector and not a normal person or Rolex fanboy. If you’re looking for your next five digit, the best value today is the black dial Explorer II. Get a 3186 movement. The steel bezel will be a different look

Unless strictly necessary to fulfil a purpose, I think proportions rules, and if it comes to that, the less the merrier including the removal of the cyclops with the date. Btw, I would be curious about what you think about 4 digits sub vs next generations. I recently compared my 14060 vs 1680 and I must admit that in terms of aesthetic I would have flipped it.

Hmmm I tried to love the 16610 for the date etc I really did - I thought it was a done deal in terms of replacing the ND. In the end I could not give up the simplicity of the 14060m with its fit and even flatter profile. I even wore the 16610 again yesterday and it only cemented my opinion.
@@SteelmoonWatches I’ve pulled the trigger and traded my 14060M for a 16610. The matter does indeed wear slightly larger and sits higher on the wrist. I think it’s a fair trade off for the date register. Been watching your 14060M/16610 comparisons a lot and they helped, cheers!
Michael, it’s the right choice for you! Having your birthday numbers in the serial number is a sign of destiny! For sure it’s a keeper! Now the big question… what if the 16610 was the one having your birthday numbers in the serial number!😂
I trade my no date Submariner for a GMT. I need to have a date, and as much as I love the look of Bluesy, the date on Submariner just doesn’t make any sense.
