I bought some molding a couple of weeks ago to create a picture frame. I don't have a router or table saw to cut the rabbets, so I've been wondering for weeks if it would work to just glue an extra piece of wood to the back. This is literally the absolute perfect video for me. I am so glad I decided to research ways to make rabbets without those tools. THANK YOU!

You jumped from the frame to showing it hung on the wall. I wish you would have shown the back of it and how the glass fits in. Is it just inside the 1x1? How did you decide where it went and did you use points or glue or ???

Hi! I actually don't use glass for anything I frame. I've heard people say they might use points. I would imagine it would work. But, I don't have any experience with it.

Depending on the trim depth 1” is probably best. 😊

Do you think I can do the cuts with a hand held circular saw? I mean I know I can but do you have any suggestions to get the measurements on point.

You might try to get a miter box with saw to country wood strips add 45° angle

Hi, how would you go about adding acrylic or glass to this frame? Thanks!

Great video. getting confidence to do my own frame now. i have 60x40 poster, what material is best for backing the picture, and how to measure, cut the backing material and attach the picture.
@AbbottsAtHome
@AbbottsAtHome 9 месяцев назад
I would cut the backing to fit the poster. Then make the frame to fit that. 1/4" plywood would work well. You can permanently attach the poster with spray adhesive, use painters tape, or double sided tape along the outside edges. Whichever you like most. :)

That video link above is one option. I ended up using command strips to attach my art to the inside of the frame. You could also use wire nails and small wood blocks to hold your art tightly in the frame. 👍

Well done video. I'm just beginning frame making for my art work. This is definitely the simplest way I've seen to make a nice looking frame.

Could I use this method for a 1-5/8" deep canvas picture? Or would I need a different type of moulding?

Instead of the square dowel, try a 1x2. 👍

Would this work for something heavier like a mirror?
@AbbottsAtHome
@AbbottsAtHome 9 месяцев назад
You can frame a mirror this way. But the frame won't be strong enough to hold the weight of a mirror. Make sure that the hanging hardware is attached to the mirror instead. Good luck!

Curious on what the cost of this diy was? Also will it work for canvas paintings?
@AbbottsAtHome
@AbbottsAtHome Год назад
I made this frame with about $15 worth of trim. But, the total cost will depend on the size. You can make this for a canvas. Just be sure to build it to fit snugly over the canvas or use another way to hold the canvas in place. Check out this video to see a frame I built for a canvas ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tJccsdqZmOw.html
