Great review. In my opinon the Giulia Quadrifofglio has more character than a BMW M3. And for the design Alfa Romeo is much better than any other car brand. The Giulia is probably the best sport sedan on the market, it's more unique than German competitors.

@@DEVILTAZ35 here in the UK the warranty stats have Alfa ranked the same as the Germans. All have between 83% and 86% of cars without any problems. Alfa rank higher than Audi and Mercedes and are 1% behind BMW. The only German car currently high on the list is Porsche. Alfa's unreliable tag has not been relative for a good 10 to 15 years now. It was earnt with poor electronics and rust during the 80s and early 90s. I've had 2 Alfa's and 108000 miles out of the last one (2010 Giulietta Cloverleaf) without a single problem. I am now on the Giulia Veloce so far without a single issue.

I bought one of these 6 months ago and it’s fantastic. I’m also fortunate enough to have owned many performance cars from AMG to Lotus and everything in between. I currently also own a Porsche track car, and I’ve driven most super cars and performance cars from the past decade or so. It does feel very much like a Ferrari, and it doesn’t feel anything like an M3/M4. The other car it reminds me of is the McLaren 570s. It has the same level of chuckability, grip and playfulness. Even my wife spends most of the time driving in race mode with traction control off. It’s disappointing that you didn’t drive it in race mode (which automatically turns off the traction control and opens up the exhaust valves, and tightens the drivetrain further) as this transforms the car from a fast performance sedan to a slightly less insane Ferrari F12 or 812 (again, I’ve driven both in anger on multiple occasions). I see people who talk about comparing this to the M3 and it’s just so different. Even the M4 GTS doesn’t have the same feeling of playfulness that the Alfa has. To each their own, but to put it simply it’s as good as every review you read on it.
@nessuno5403
@nessuno5403 2 года назад
You must be referring to the Series 1. From Series 2, you don't need to drive it in 'Race' mode to open the exhaust valves. Totally agree that this car doesn't feel like a BMW F80/G80. To begin with, the artificial engine sound in the cabin especially in the G80, is quite tragic. The German may be the fastest now, but always less emotive and less pure. Its similar ZF automatic box is also more ordinary and boring compared to the Giulia. Steering and ride of the Italian is comparable to previous 911 models.
@MattiusMaximus
@MattiusMaximus 2 года назад
@@nessuno5403 yeah, I was referring to the one he is driving which is a pre-facelift. If anybody owns the pre-facelift you can also get it mapped to open the valves in D mode, or buy valve controller that uses a key fob. Both are about £400. You can also do a stage 1 remap which takes it to 600bhp if you fancy it.

What makes Giulia so good, is that they developed the Giulia Quadrifoglio first. The chassis, engine, drivetrain - the model they wanted was this. When they got that perfected, then they did the lesser Giulia models (Veloce, the diesels etc). What Germans usually do is they release the non performance models and then make the changes to regular chassis, engine to be performance oriented M cars.

Criminally underrated car. Lapped the Nurburgring 13 seconds quicker than the M4 of the time. Had 500 hp vs the F80 M3's 430hp, in fact BMW JUST matched the Alfa's power with the latest M3. The Beemer can't touch it in the style department though.

Less advanced at least in theory because it’s an economy car at its core.) category or segment by any stretch of the imagination.Too many people worship at the altar of so-called reliability. If you want reliability you don’t get a cracked out stressed out sports car of any type. You get a Toyota Corolla. Probably beige. Clarkson said it best Because if you want a small, fast saloon car, what you absolutely have to have is an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. Now, for this to be a proper Alfa Romeo, there must be… something wrong with it. Think about it; A person who is kind to his mother, punctual, sober and well-dressed; he’s an Audi. And nobody wants a friend like that. If you’re going to form a relationship with a car, if you’re going to develop a bond, it’s got to have human qualities. And if it’s going to have human qualities, it’s got to have faults. And this car, I’m delighted to say, has his faults.” My car has only had one small issue in 3 1/2 years of ownership. The oil level light was confused and needed to be reset. Other than that it has been fine. I don’t like the last service that I had to pay for that was $2800 but that’s what you do for cars like this.

Great review, but next time put it in race mode and have some fun. I love my 2019 Giulia QV so much, we bought a 2020 Stelivo QV to match it. Its such a fun car and my god is it fast. Mine is almost to 60k miles and no real issues with it at all, to be fair I haven't owned it for all 60k miles so who knows what happened before I got it. Its a dying breed of driver car for sure. I came from a 2018 Dodge Charger Scat Pack (485hp/475ftlb) (4,395) and loved it but the Alfa (503hp/443ftlb) (3,806 lbs) is just in another league. That almost 600lb difference makes the alfa much much faster, 3.8 0-60 vs 4.6 in the charger (in a perfect scenario with a good driver). Mine is Vesuvio Gray which, when clean, has a nice sparkle to it but for all intents and purposes is still a gray car. People still stop and stare at it because its just not something you see all the time... But now the wife's Stelvio gets all the looks because she had it wrapped Chameleon lol!

Enjoying mine so far as well and definitely prefer it over the F82 M4 I had. There are a few weird things to get used to if you're coming from german cars (I might do a video on the specifics) but most of them aren't really negatives, just different. The only thing I think actually lets the car down is the brake by wire system. Even after several months and 3 different types of brake pads, I still don't like how the brake pedal feels. But yeah it is a shame you don't see more of them around, as they deserve just as much of a following as the M3/M4 gets.

With owning one of these and a 2018 m3 I will admit the m3 is bulletproof, I get in it everyday and never worry, I never have a doubt I’ll make it somewhere and I throughly enjoy the car. The Giulia Quad on the other hand is hit or miss….ive owned the car nearly 5 months and have yet to have it in my garage more than a week. It’s been sitting at the dealership for issue after issue after issue. Right when I thought they were resolved I figured I’d take it on an easy road trip, it turned into a terrible experience and nearly left me stranded 5 hours from home. Without a doubt the Giulia is the better driving car, the f80 is the more enjoyable car to own though. Both sound great and I actually prefer how the bmw sounds….the Giulia so far has cost me $22,000 since December so really not the best experience, maybe I got a bad one, I’m not sure. But I will confirm every single issue you read about in the automotive journals I have had. At this point I don’t even know if I want to keep the car because I can’t even trust it and my line of work I can’t be late to something due to a car issue. I guess take it for what you want, but this has been my experience. If you have the money spend the money on an F80 and you WILL NOT regret it like I was worried I would. Also the interior on the f80 is head over heels nicer as well as the overall comfort

Electric vehicles today can just crush these ICE vehicles, especially this car. However, this car has more soul and of course you can drive it all day long without running out of electrons. It is a beautiful car, but at least here in the U.S. a total sales dud. The Corvette is the far better value ( although it is a two seater) and the Bowling Green factory can in no way keep up with the huge sales demand. Parts and service availability will also be far better with the Vette.

None of these RU-vidrs get it right. The "A" in DNA is Advanced Efficiency. It changes everything to stretch gas mileage, including turning off 3 cylinders when warranted. You can get upwards of 28mpg highway if you try REAL hard. Also, Dynamic has a soft damper mode and Race has a mid damper mode. Why nobody reads is beyond me. Greatest car I've ever had and eclipsed all my Ferraris. Here's my long-term review ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hpKoJHgMz9I.html

The problem is most "enthusiasts" now a day only care about acceleration. They forget (or haven't experienced) cars that are actually fun and engaging to drive like the Alfa.

the bmw like many others produce only to sell and do not design them with their heads, just see the rear spoiler of the giulia that makes sense if it has that shape because it has the stop light at the bottom and bmw has shamelessly copied it on its that they have the stop at the top haha, just ridiculous ...

Too bad in Aus you can get an f80 m3 for around $60k aud. While one of these you're looking at $120k. Used. Is it good? Sure. Twice as good as an m3? You can barely get a veloce here for the same proce as an f80 m3. Alfa killed themselves. Coming from someone who dailies a giulietta qv. Wanted to get a giulia qv but for $120k used they can eat it. So many cars I'd much rather have at that price point.

The brand suffers because the former CEO Sergio Marchionne died and this brand was his baby. Now the French run Stellantis and don't really care about Alfa/Maserati.

@johnmanciameli9752 2 года назад
LOL. So Jean Imparato who runs Alfa is not an enthusiast? The guy is a self confessed nut case enthusiast of the brand. He has just announced plans for a new Alfa Romeo Supercar modelled on the 33 stradale. The Tonale has been launched with a new model coming out every year fro the next 5 years. As for Maserati, they have 3 brand new cars; Mc20, Cielo, Grecale. coming out next month is the granturismo and granturismo convertible + a stack of electric versions + a new quattroporte coming out in the next 12 months + an update to the Levante. 🤣🤣🤣

@@23Piccolina I understand your scepticism. However, there is reason to be optimistic. All the Maserati models have been seen in the flesh as either in showrooms for sale or final prototype eg granturismo. (I can hold my breath and will be around as I attended the launch of the MC20). Just as important, management have a history of turning brands around. Carlos Taveras (CEO of Stellantis) turned Opel around in just 2 years into a profit making enterprise. Carlos reminds me of Marchionne. A real enthusiast with a business head. Jean Phillip Imparato turned Peugot around into a money making machine. He is obsesed with the brand and improving the quality. eg he slowed Tonale production down to just 25 units a day to make sure the quality is there. Jean Phillip Imparato this time has alot of money to play with as well. BTW - Alfa Romeo are now making money. I have a good feeling.

@@23Piccolina Good to read mate. I am on to my 5th Alfa as well (Guilia QV). I am doing everything I can to promote the brand. It deserves way more success. Its an aristocratic brand that can teach the likes of BMW what "pure driving pleasure" REALLY means. I genuinely believe Alfas time is coming; Seriously talented management with bucket loads of cash giving Alfa Romeo 10 years to prove itself. This is something that Marchionne never had the luxury of. Still - look at what was achieved with the Giorgio platform. Further, Jean Imparato is talking about things that Marchionne never really had the luxury of being able to indulge eg improving residuals, building to order, 5 year warranties, Lexus level of quality, showrooms that are truly beautiful (look at the new one in Milan that will be the template moving forward) I have a good feeling. I think you will one day say to the naysayers "I told you so".
