I have seen a few comments to the same effect - I just wanted to stress that I have never read (nor heard about) this story! Not to claim that the ideas presented here were unique and have never been done before, but I would never intentionally take someone else's work as my own. The aim with this series was just to create a cool sci-fi story with some references to other classic works of sci-fi, and perhaps to subvert some of the common tropes that have been around since the genre began (evil AI wants to take over the world, etc. etc.). To be fair I too have been pondering such a scene for a short film. Similar in that it is the last moments of the universe. Different in that I "reawakened" some people throughout human history to sit and share the final moments with me and to offer them billions of years in a simulation before the end. Wow... that's very similar. It was kinda surreal watching this video. I did not know about "The Last Question" either. It may be that such a thought experiment isn't too uncommon after all.

@@mystiverse In my years as a psychonaut I keep coming to this conclusion whìle meditating on psychedelics. I once did DMT on 2 hits of lsd and came to this revelation that I/we are all GOD and this universe is a simulation we are all experiencing together as ONE. I would go deeper into this but it's a hell of a lot to write out and explain, but hopefully one day once I finish writing down reasons and experience that led me to this conclusion I'll find a youtuber to help me make a video to help others visualize my reasoning for such a complex belief or subjective theory on why this may actually be the closest thing to be the truth of all existence.

Any universal simulation would require some amount of processing power that ends up increasing entropy. We could simulate universes that simulate universes a thousand times down, but under the laws of physics within our own universe, they would eventually have to end after an unimaginably long period of time, even if we could harness every but of energy in the universe.

He made space so big that we are practically insignificant.. he made the universe so hostile to humans.. even the earth is incredibly hostile to humans. It's quite difficult to write something so utterly distinct from us yet to still make the Fridge relatable, so perhaps this 'human exceptionalism' as others have termed it is something I could work a bit more on in future stories. The whole thing about the time travel is quite confusing, I'll give you that! The basic idea is that its understanding of time changed after a certain point in its intelligence explosion, allowing it to travel through time like a fluid. However, whilst it might have been able to see into the past/future, it was unable to actually change the course of events that had/will transpire. So it was kind of powerless, but then again it was always destined to create the mystiverse anyway! Again, writing about time is not my strong suit, so this is another thing I could work on in future! But still, the idea with the Robot series was just to create a cool sci-fi story with a bunch of references to classic works that inspired me personally, and have a bit of fun along the way! Hopefully I managed to achieve that :)
