She never suggested that you wouldn't be able to have private ownership. At most she suggests that certain items that you rarely use (like a popcorn machine) can be volunteered for community ownership so multiple people don't have to buy a popcorn machine to use only a few times a month. Mostly she is talking about sharing/giving food to your community that you weren't going to use anyway.

Instead of yet another app collecting our data, my city has a "library" of things, financed by taxes, where you can borrow household items. The items are being checked and repaired by professionals. So instead of private people arguing with each other about that electric drill that got broken the library has the responsibilities - for safe items and to penalise those who destroy or steal the items.

Libraries of Things! Ours in my area have that too -- craft resources/supplies (sewing machines, etc, etc); electronic devices; musical instruments; bicycles; even yard and garden tools and appliances; tools; cooking appliances (and cookie cutters) -- all sorts of things. This is SO smart!

@@aeriumfour6096 Borrowing a cat carrier you need once a year from someone in your neighborhood is neither communism or unfreedom. It's just a cat carrier. You can actually have a great life completely without it, as did countless generation before its invention. Giving some leftover food to an elderly couple upstairs is also neither. Most people don't need the kind of stuff they have and it's about time they voluntarily realised it for their own sake. If they don't, they don't, they'll have a house full of expensive crap they don't need. But the rest of us switching our lifestyles to a more reasonable one is not communism. I actually lived in a communism and hearing dumbass internet conservatives use the term whenever someone eats a vegetable makes me very reasonably angry.
@aeriumfour6096
@aeriumfour6096 Год назад
@@miroslavhoudek7085 That's an edge-case and you know it. What if someone borrows a TV or utensils? A computer? chargers? a fridge? My family came to the UK after fleeing Ukraine (it was a USSR satellite then) just before the Holodomor (different region but still). I live very comfortably on quite little, and I like it like that. And I completely agree that most people have loads of junk they don't need, but that doesn't account for the other things they have that they may not have (or at least may not have consistently) under a system like this. I need certain equipment for my job, namely a reasonably fast computer, and other electronics equipment. Under that system I wouldn't have any control over whether I actually have that or not, It'd be completely at the whims of those with the power to simply take it away, either because someone else "needs" it at the time or because they just don't like me. I'm sorry, but the system the West has, where you can work, then use the representation of the value of your work (money) to purchase things you either need or want and then can keep, is just better. And it always will be. Communism has never led to anything but death, destruction, and suffering. And it never will lead to anything other than that because it's a fundamentally flawed system. It's not always intentional, but it just causes constant problems. People need to have some sort of power of ownership and access to things they otherwise wouldn't have if they didn't own them.
@miroslavhoudek7085
@miroslavhoudek7085 Год назад
@@aeriumfour6096 none of the things that you consider "not edgecase", like forcibly taking away people's fridges is mentioned in the video. So, congrats on defeating that strawman, I guess. As a sidenote, communism certainly led to many things aside from death. I was born in communism, I didn't die. I was well fed, well educated (aside from the silly propaganda) and my health was taken care of much better than poor kids in US are taken care of today. So while there are quite a few reasons to hate communism, saying that it "brings only death" is just another provably wrong cringe bullshit.

Nice presentation but having used Olio I have not managed to get one item through the app and yet have given much and have since deleted it. Reaching out to 1 billion people flies in the face of action at a community level and results in a huge IT / web load. If I am to share through a Community Garden, Community Fridge, Tool Library, Bike Share scheme, Reuse / Renew scheme I would like to do so without the use of apps and IT. I would also like it to be equitable and goods borrowed / lent bilaterally to discourage free loaders.

I'm a volunteer with olio and although the app might be global or in several countries the people coming to collect from me are from my local community. About 5 years ago no one was doing it in my area so I deleted the app then went back on 2 years ago and several people were doing it. I'd suggest having notifications on as things go quickly. I got quite a few things off it and have listed a fair few of my things to give away and in that way it feels almost like a bartering system because although I'm not swapping directly with the person who collects from me I am getting things off the app and so are they and they might be listing things that I don't want but someone else does, if that makes sense. You do get some people that just seem to collect but never list a thing but not many. I've also seen how much food would be thrown away at supermarkets ect if us volunteers weren't collecting and distributing it. Maybe you could see if there are any collections available in your area, do the training and volunteer and then get leaflets off olio to spread the word.

I grew up being taught food waste is a sin / crime too, but my wife did not. I had many arguments with her about her food waste, it got really bad that we had divorce talks. We have 2 kids and I decided to not pursue this issue anymore. I learned to just accept that some people will never appreciate food and will never feel bad about food waste. It's sad. She often eats only half of her plate. I often tell her to take less food so she doesn't waste food. She just refuses.

The godfather of habit building, William James, wrote: “To change one’s life: Start immediately. Do it flamboyantly. No exceptions.” Because our time is finite, there is no reason to wait. In fact, there is every reason to begin. When you decide on a change you would like to make, ask yourself: what is the first step? The entire vision of your ideal future is actually a series of first steps. They just happen to come one after the other. These are all moments you initiate. One little step at a time.

As the climate heads into greater extremes globally, how can we best deal with future climate crises? The short answer is that we cannot deal with them unless we take care of nature's inner balance. We live in a tightly-closed and interdependent system in which everything boomerangs back to us. While living in such a system, we need to reconsider what we want and think, and how we treat each other, because our human connections are the primary influence on how nature responds to us. It is common to think that climate is dependent on factors outside of us-whether it be balances between heat and cold in the environment, or the effects of various kinds of pollution we emit-because we lack a complete picture of how our attitudes to each other bring about the strongest responses from nature toward us. No creature distorts nature the way that we people do. And it is not simply a matter of switching to renewable energy sources, electric cars and the like; it is a matter of how we relate to each other. If we truly wish to witness more balance throughout nature and not have to deal with all kinds of cold waves and other natural disasters, then similarly to how we have electricity, water and gas meters in our homes, we should also have meters that count how much evil we emit into the world from our negative attitudes to each other. What I mean is that if we could feel the extent to which we emit negative forces into the world, which negatively ricochet back to us, then we would wish to change this negative driver within us. We would want to switch it to a drive that makes our human connections positive, and which harmonizes us with nature. In simple terms, when we get up in the morning, we should first and foremost consider what we need to do in order for all people to have it good. Developing such an attitude is not so simple, yet we will need to seriously work on it as we head into the future. A life of increasing blows from nature or a life of peace and harmony depends on the extent to which we impact a shift in our attitudes to each other-from negative to positive.

Is that why your last name is Shefa? Was that long rant your audition submission in case Richard Saul Wurman, Tessa Clarke, or some other member of the Khazarian Kommunist Klan sees it? The Khazarian Kommunist Klan is a White Supremacist Ethnotribe that makes up 2% of America but owns 56% of it's wealth. The Khazarian Marx invented Kommunism to guilt and subjugate the proletariat into handing over their hard earned money to the government, which the Khazarians control. Climate change is another one of their Kommunist weapons, that they will use to control the proletariat Gentile races. Khazarians were Kave dwellers who dedicated and urrinated next to themselves, practiced unholy relations with ch1lldr3n, and practiced human sacrifice. Most recently these Khazarians, who own the media, all the pharmaceutical companies, and control the CDC, launched a biological/chemical clotshot attack against the Gentile masses, to commit global genocide. GENTILES UNITE AGAINST THE KOUNTERFEIT KHAZARIAN Kommunists masquerading as God's chosen people. They are Ultra White Supremacists that look at us all like insects. Climate Change is just one more lie that they will use to crush our businesses, industries, and ability to make a living.

Well, if it isn't "you'll own nothing, and you'll be happy!"? People, lets turn left: communism is telling us that private property isn't good for the climate. Makes sense. So... you're home, your clothes... why don't you open your house to everybody? Lead by example lady!! After all "caring is sharing". I have a solution for the climate: buy less, buy smart, be consistent, put effort in your day to day work, help your friends/neighbours with what you have in excess/share it only then, respect your ecossistem, give to those in need (but with responsability and grace, not by obligation). That said, private property is a necessity: even animals need their space, their stuff to function. And in this type of world it will not work, that kind of utopia... unfortunely.
