November 5 2022 I was 54 and I was 104kgs and pre diabetic. It was a long weekend and I binged watched this man’s channel on “get well to lose weight don’t lose weight to get well” . I am now 87 kilos using free weights and cycling three times a week. I feel like I am in my thirties and feeling really well. Listen to this man do your own research and act. 🙏🏼✨

Hey buddy, 2 can play this game! August 4, 2021 I did the same thing as you at 185 pounds (84 Kg). I too was a prediabetic with fatty liver disease. You may think 185 is not too heavy but you need to know I'm only 5'5" tall. I started by dropping all sugar drinks, intermittent fasting at 18:6 for a couple of months then went to prolonged fasting every two months for 4-5 days. Net result was 52 pounds lost and am off 7 daily medications, 4 prescription. I take nothing and like you feel 30 again. I did this at age 60. Yep, Dr. Berg did it to me too!

One time (years ago) I went to a new doctor. She said, "you have blood sugar issues. I want you to eat 6 small meals a day." She may have also recommended snacks, too, I don't remember now. I thought, OMG, SIX "small" meals a DAY? I did try to comply, but it felt like I was in the kitchen ALL DAY, either preparing, eating, or cleaning up. Not what I wanted to do with my life! But I did try it for a while. By and by I stopped that, and also stopped seeing that doc. I much prefer to eat once or twice a day. No more of this "continuous drip" six ("small") meals a day for me. Your recommendations, Dr. Berg, make SO Much more sense, and are so much easier to live with! Thank you for making these videos.

Hi Doctor, i am type 1 diabetic. kindly research over the increased TSH levels & inulin sensitivity as whenever my TSH level goes up it gets difficult for me to control sugar levels. Usually i take 15-17 units of insulin but when my tsh level shoots up i have to take double the amount of insuin to manage it. One more thing i have recently started eating black wheat flour produced in India itself. It is also helping me reducing my blood sugar levels it is completely gluten free and tasty too. So, if you feel that these above two things are worth researching plz do it as it will help thousands of people to get benefited. Thank a ton.

I like this take on insulin. It seems to be a good way to explain the issues to a novice. Since you mentioned a bunch of supplements may I suggest a video that may help a lot of people: Some supplements are better taken at certain times and on empty stomach and others with a meal. The instructions on the label may or may not issue the best doses either. Then the instructions appear to be based on the 3 meals a day plus snacks schedule that is so common. So I am interested to know which supplement to take when on a 2 meals a day and OMAD schedule. I am not where I want to be but I have gone a long way with the help of your videos. I remember when my dad became a type2 diabetic, and being taught the first function of insulin was to turn sugars into fat storage. If that is true, it also explains these ying yang effects of insulin. High sugars in the blood having high insulin levels trying to convert those sugars into fat storage, creating insulin resistance in cells, because there is to much if it. Leading to the ill effects parts of insulin. Still the solution would be to cut the sugars, cut the carbs, The Healthy Ketogenic Diet, and intermittent fasting. Then insulin doesn't need to spike, and can do the beneficial things it does. Does that make sense?

I’ve theorized that vascular calcification is almost entirely due to sugar over time in the blood stream. Sugar is sticky. Everything you have mentioned either seems like a direct result of insulin or a result of less sugar in the blood stream ie… insulin help blood pressure. It certainly would if the vascular can expand and contract properly. We didn’t evolve to deal with the excess of carbs we have available to us.. in particular sugar

@@kmiller36 For me personally, lots of trial and error. My doctors were useless. Also type 1 & type 2 are vastly different. Furthermore, even if two people have the same diagnosis (type 1) they will experience things differently. I would HIGHLY recommend.a freestyle libre 2 or 3, as this makes your life way easier measuring your glucose levels. I had to fly out of my country to get one since not every EU country provides them. Also, from what I understand, if you are pre-diabetic for type 2, it could be reversible with lifetime diet and exercise intervention. For type 1 it is more severe and bleak as I understand there is no cure.

Dr. Berg, Today I started keto diet. This month I also began semaglutide injections to help me lose 50 pounds gained since menopause. Though originally for diabetics, semaglutide is now being prescribed for weight loss. I am not diabetic. It is my understanding semaglutide increases the amount of insulin produced by the pancreas while decreasing glucagon produced by the liver. It has curbed my appetite and carb cravings. However, in learning how insulin wrecks our health, what is your opinion regarding the use of semaglutide and might it hurt or help my keto journey?

Have you read "Why we get sick" by Dr. Ben Bikman, PhD? He's a cell biologist. That's an amazing book about insulin resistance. I would disagree about LDL being a marker for metabolic syndrome, HDL and triglycerides would be a better marker. Also one of the reason why exercise is so important for becoming insulin sensitive is because it overrides the fat cells demand for insulin. It tells the body that the muscles takes priority for insulin taking away from the fat cell allowing it to become more sensitive.

Berberine and cinnamon have never had much of an effect on me, but the other 12 on that 14 point list are all good. In my view overconsumption is the biggest issue, and eating less frequently while controlling calories if you are insulin resistant is probably more key than macronutrient balance. You can eat only protein and fat, but if you overeat, your blood glucose will still spike, just slower. The rate at which blood glucose rises and the resulting insulin change (injected or not) matters a great deal for all of the downstream effects of insulin. It's very easy to take all this for granted until it no longer works, and then information like this is valuable. I look forward to more content in this direction as Dr Berg explains complex things in a simple way.

Ray Peat and numerous other researchers have been asserting this for years. The issue is not with the carbs or insulin but with the inadequate metabolism of glucose. Ive been type 1 diabetic for 43 years. I take 22 units of long lasting insulin a day, and depending on meals I think i fluctuate between 20 to 30 units of fast acting insulin a day. So when I saw the amounts you listed i was like... DAMN what are these people eating, an entire wedding cake in one sitting?

Yeah,my doctor by request from me ordered "one" Homa IR Test but once the powers that be knew that the patient was on to something, I've not had another like test.I'm now in the market for a doctor who will work to make me healthier not work to keep me on the plantation of progressive worsening, which in turn makes somebody bigger monies.

Quite interesting indeed, all of it, it makes perfect sense, much of that! So, dr. Berg, I guess it may be high time to put things to be put back into perspective, especially when there's talking about good & bad😌. Isn't it comparable to the "never ending story" of the alleged "battle" between proces and function, the chicken or the egg, the beginning (A) and the end (O)🙃?! Btw, the receptor part is often left out when generally explained, so great thanks to contributing to telling the whole (some) story and dito facts, I synchronistically spoke of components mentioned at the end, to someone close this very morning 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙂!!

I really wish I could eat large salads.. they cause so much pain!! 😩 I simply cannot do leafy greens anymore, and it sucks bc I love salads.. but I do NOT love the pain and inflammation that comes with eating them.. I'd probably do well with the carnivore diet, but I prefer eating more balanced meals.. I feel stuck lol.. anywho, great info on insulin! thanks! 🙏🏽💖

Absolutely. They have been trained, taught, indoctrinated, and whatever else to describe this conundrum of craziness we as society are faced with when we try to communicate with corrupt medical community. For example , Dr Ken Berry has a book called " The lies my Dr told me " He himself was in practice as a physician for 20 years before his own health woke him up to how bad our health system really is. Thank goodness we now have access to more than just a typical Dr treating us like we are just sheep.

There are other channels as good as this one is, and he is one of the best. There is some over lap but a different emphasis. The exercise part, specifically HIIT or weights is makes you the opposite of insulin resistant, it makes you insulin sensitive. Yes, that was a bit of a body builder channel.

I'm a type 2 diabetic. Last time I went to Dr they prescribed insulin shots. My blood sugar went to 30 and I threw the stuff out. Dropped metformin and replaced it with Berberine. Added Chromium, Potassium and Magnesium supplements Blood sugar ranges from 93 to 120 most of the time. Be sure to check your blood sugar often when taking insulin if you're a type 2

@@pennyp8841 T2 can be reversed by a very low carbohydrate lifestyle. See Dr Ken Berry And any videos at Low Carb Down Under. These are front line people. Less carbs means less insulin. Small changes will minimize mistakes. Don't change your insulin dose my more than 10% at a time. Give each increment a few days to see how that works out. Maybe you can get your doc to practice the long acting levimir or lantus separately from humalog. Then you only take humalog for carbs and for BG correction. You should have a scale for that. For example, 1 Unit for every 50 points over 100. Or 1 Unit for every 15g carb. You can jump all the way into to keto at once.... Under 30g carb/day.... But you will need fast changes to insulin dosages. If you don't have experience at this, look up Dr Eric Westman. You can work into keto meal by meal using the 2 separate kind of insulin. no carbs equals no insulin with the humalog. Then at some point you will not need the long acting. Study before you try anything.

Hello, thank you Dr. Berg for all your videos, work and knowledge 😃 I have still a question, if I want to make IF and start to eat at 10, drink coffee, drink lemon or apple vinegar water and take my supplements (Omega 3, magnesium, zink etc.) when should I take it and in which order? I also have to separate supplements and coffee with minimum 1 hour between them? I would appreciate an answer. Greetings!

Excellent video! Just one question though about fat intake. The role of insulin is also fat storage and if fat is high then insulin would be needed to put it somewhere or else fat will stay in the blood stream and cause damage. Please explain this also dr berg.

To many Carbohydrates(Sugar) in our diet gets deposited on our body as fat. On Keto Diet Fat is used for energy to run our body and the excess becomes 💩💩💩.....!

@@KETO_DIET I am not saying carbs are good. But excess fat will is also not good. In this sense why the body does not use carbs as fuel and throw away the rest. I love keto and have been doing for 5-6 yrs but excess fat is my question and the role of insulin in fat storage. Think about it and then reply.. Thanks

I have been sugar free and min carb intake for a month and my skin has cleared up. I’ve got my period on time. I feel more awake, my body doesn’t hurt anymore. I was inflamed and I had no idea what was happening to me. My hormones were all over the place and I had suicidal thoughts. I feel sooo good now. Thank you! It is because of You and your approach that has helped me understand what I have been doing and what I need to keep doing now. My best friend has a temperature now for a year. It comes and goes, but she always feels like she is burning. She has done so many tests and nothing has showed up. This thing comes and goes and mentally has changed her so much, she has become depressed and lost all the energy and willingness. I wish I could help her, I’ve been telling her that she needs to change her nutrition. We still don’t know why she is burning.

Insulin helps with all this stuff, it's the fact that when Insulin resistance occurs the Insulin can not stay to the same relative level as when Insulin resistance is not at the same level, so the relative dips in Insulin do not have the same level of effect, even when the lowest dip is higher then the non Insulin resistant high
