If Chris Stapleton would’ve had more of a moment on “Only Thing That’s Gone” I think it would’ve been a better song. But, I’ve noticed that whenever Chris does collaborate with artists he tries not to “overstep” I guess you could say. It’s like he wanted Morgan to have his moment and not crush him vocally. I think it’s a great song it’s just needs a little more from Chris. Love this album and the review!

Absolutely love the grit of Morgan’s voice, and your descriptions are so well informed and thought out. Loved this video and am excited to give this album a deep listen.

Hot take I’m sort of co-opting from you: Morgan Wallen is just the post-FGL version of Sam Hunt. (PS What happened to Hot Take Hugh?!) That being said, I have legitimately not listened to any other music since this record came out. I’m obsessed.

If we got a 12 song album in the style of Sand in my Boots and 7 Summers, it would be incredible. I felt like all the party songs kind of blurred together and felt like retreads of some of the songs on his first album. Except for Country Ass Shit. That one stands out.

I personally understand that he’s sad, but I appreciate his music because it’s real and people can actually relate to it. It’s better than a Sam hunt or Thomas Rhett record

Great review, Grady. Sand in My Boots is the song I play the most by far. If this double album was condensed down to my favorite 12 songs, my head might’ve literally exploded because there are that many great ones on here.

Wasted on you is by far my favorite which is very cliche especially when it shot its way up to his top song. Neon eyes, Your bartender, warning, and still going down are my next picks

Grady, you did a great job on the review. Your heartfelt deliver and authenticity are why I keep watching your videos. Your willingness to talk about debating the merits of a double album and other things are worth merit. For me personally this album has become a favorites to listen to over the last year. This is in addition to Tenille Townes the Lemonade Stand and Ingrid Andress Ladylike. To be able to listen to an album all the way through and enjoy it is what means I really enjoy an artist an album. I don’t have a favorite song, but I give you credit for your delivery and the great you did. So from here on out I think because you do such a great job, I’m going to have to start rating single album videos for presentation out of 5 stars. For this, I have to tell you the presentation of this album for me is 4.95 out of 5.00. Proud of you for the great job you do.

The thing about comments like “he’s a sad boy” is that most of these dudes don’t write even 20% of their material. When Isbell writes songs about despair you know that’s coming from his heart. When Morgan sings a song about missing a girl it’s because him and 2 other dudes wrote a country hit about missing summer and drinking six packs by the river. Quite literally that happened.

Maybe they just mean bad boy in the Nashville music. I guess compared to Luke Bryan and FGL he would be anyway.
@maxwelljose2241
@maxwelljose2241 3 года назад
@@teeman8999 I like some of his music, for sure. New country isn’t my favourite by a long shot, but I listen to some, maybe even lots of it at times. But it’s hard to get into it when I don’t have much respect for their process or their credibility. I listen to it because it’s fun and has catchy melodies, not because I think they’re great lyricists who are pushing boundaries. I wouldn’t ever call him a “bad boy” haha. Anyways. Not a big deal. It wasn’t even directed at Grady, I love his videos no matter what, very well made.

I think the whole label should listen to Morgan and the crowd and make an entire acoustic version of the album because it'll not only sound good but draw in that pure country sound and crowd that doesn't want all that production beats and snap track vibe
