Is this a Costco add? Don't all big grocery stores have those rotisserie chickens? We love them at my house but take the skin off, not because of the seasoning but because the skin is kind of gross to us.

The messed up thing is that the rotisserie chicken, in most stores are cheaper than the raw whole chickens. We've become too lazy to cook a whole chicken and so this is how stores reduce their losses. Aside from that, Dr. Oz is nothing but a babbling shill for where ever he's getting a check from at ant given moment.

I was going to call "food journalist" Mark Schatzker a moron but it turns out he's correct. According to Foodinsight.org a processed food is "any deliberate change in a food that occurs before it’s available for us to eat" So seasoning a chicken and cooking it in a rotisserie oven makes it processed food. But I'll tell you what, I'd still rather have a rotisserie chicken any day of the week over what's in a box of Hamburger Helper.
@Squiggly667
@Squiggly667 6 лет назад
And? You don't think any off-the-shelf dry rub you season a fresh chicken (then allow to sit for a few hours to over-nite for the flavors to go throughout the chicken) with has the same preservatives added to keep flavor and prevent clumping? Even if you make your own rub, the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and the like will still have preservatives and additives to prevent clumping and preserve freshness/flavor. Being preseasoned at a factory is no different than doing the same at home using an already prepared rub or marinade. And if you don't think the chicken you buy at a store has been frozen before shipping; I've got a bridge to the moon to sell you. Short of killing the chicken yourself, you aren't getting a bird that's not been frozen for shipping. The benefit of buying at Walmart, Sam's, Costco etc.. is you don't have to cook it or clean up afterwards, and often the price is neraly identical to buying a raw bird and having to do all that work yourself. I swear, Mashed/Buzzfeed and the like are all just a series of click-bait videos with no redeeming value, and often outright incorrect information presented in a way to sound alarming when the information is anything but.

You're way off, first of all meat in general has to be labeled either "fresh" or "previously frozen" and there is no way you could get the same amount of salt/nitrates into the meat with a rub when compared to a commercial brining process. www.nytimes.com/1995/01/12/us/freeze-poultry-but-don-t-call-it-fresh-us-says.html

It has something that preserves it (which keeps you from getting food poisoning), MSG (which was swindled by an anecdote that nobody can seem to reproduce) and brown sugar (gasp! a little bit of brown sugar!!!). MSG is not bad for you, moron. It's just a type of SALT, you idiot. Fucking morons. Disgusting people. Don't even know what they're talking about, but they're talking. Yeast extract is bad? Hello? The thing we use to make bread? Lady, stop typing anything. Start reading science of food. Get the fuck out of here. Monosodium glutamate (MSG, also known as sodium glutamate) is the sodium salt of glutamic acid, one of the most abundant naturally occurring non-essential amino acids.[2] Glutamic acid is found naturally in tomatoes, grapes, cheese, mushrooms and other foods. That's right, you dumb bitch. MSG is in TOMATOES, GRAPES, CHEESE, MUSHROOMS, ETC. NATURALLY. You fucking moron. Here's another BIG surprise for you. NaCl, or Sodium Chloride (sounds scary), is just TABLE SALT. OMG! You're eating chlorine?! So dangerous!

Oh, please... they are pointing out Brown Sugar on the back of the label & complaining that it has brown sugar in Costco's recipe chicken rub. This all is much ado about nothing! NOTE: Dr Oz & his TV show has been close many times over the years in actually being criminally charged for many of his bogus claims & those by his guests who push their products giving the public and his TV show viewers false medical assumptions & data results w/out proper studies & medical hard science to back their claims. The Dr. Oz show was not about Costco chickens. Although there is too much sodium in Costco Chickens, there is no MSG or Gluten in them. Well first of all, I discount and discredit this video since it uses "Dr. Oz" as a reference - everyone knows his opinion (as well as his "expert" guests) are for sale. Second of all, people should know that "processed" actually is defined in several layers - the overall definition of "processed" is anything that is not in it's natural state - if you buy vegetables that are simply trimmed and washed, that is considered "processed." I am so glad that we have scare-tactic video producers like Mashable that just spread the misinformation without any full disclosure of facts and/or real information - but simply stick a catchy "gotta watch" title on crap videos.

Costco does sell lots of cheap unrefined staple foods like steel cut oats, quinoa, sweet potato, potato plus fresh greens, and costco also sells b12 supplement needed to reduce or eliminate animal products from the diet. Costco business center (and website) also sells in bulk black beans, pinto beans, garbanzo (chickpea), mayocoba bean (peruvian bean, canary bean), red bean, lentils.

Guys, it's just not that hard to buy an organic chicken at the Aldi or similar store, rub some organic spices on it, shove half an onion or half a lemon or a bit of both into the cavity, stick it in a disposable aluminum roasting pan, cover it with foil, and cook it in the oven at 400 degrees for an hour. Then, take off the foil and let it cook for another 10-15 minutes to brown the skin a little bit.

kDawn f 100% whole wheat bread is a lie. There's more than wheat that goes into any bread. White or wheat doesn't matter. Because both are made from wheat. Neither one is healthy for you by itself. There's a really old saying, "Man should not live by bread alone." Bread is bread and won't kill you unless you're allergic.

zero tsang RU-vid And Google Msg, the link with brain Cancer, msg, the addictive ingredient in the food flavor enhancer Accent.

@OrangeRocks1986 6 лет назад
anthony dyson Here's a link for you. This link proves that even with lots of testing only one persons test stated that it does cause brain cancer. But 19 other times there was zero results. Plus later on they did testing on actual humans and still have zero proof MSG is bad. MSG is a salt just like any other form of salt people want to use on their own food. Slim minority of people nave have adverse reaction. But it's not consistent even when testing them for similar adverse reactions. So please keep falsely thinking MSG causes brain cancer. You might as well claim that every form of salt causes cancer.

@docmike2904
@docmike2904 6 лет назад
First off, Dr. Oz and the people on his show are extremely disreputable at best with "information". Second, the ingredients he claimed were in the chicken (if they in fact even are) are literally harmless. Just because something was seasoned earlier does not mean it is dangerous in any way shape or form; all it means is it will taste better because those ingredients had time to soak in, which is the entire point of using rubs and marinades. Just because you don't know what an ingredient is does not automatically make it dangerous.

"the chicken is not kale". Wow they sure got a great food expert there, I will try and remember that the next time I am at Costco so I don't make that mistake again. Also, good to know that putting spices on something makes it processed, after all, it's not like pepper, oregano, parsley or virtually every other herb and spice is derived from plants. I guess all the organic, anti-processed food people will be throwing their spice cabinets out right about now.

The only concern is that the chickens aren't washed properly. They come straight out of the barrel into those huge BBQ rods then are seasoned and roasted then packaged. The chickens are placed in a salt brine in the barrels. They should rinse the birds off before they roast them.
