This car seemed to have a fairly mixed reception, but I've always loved a good hot hatch. A lot of love and care went into the development of this thing, and it had some pretty big shoes to fill behind the cobra and the lightning. Even though history shows it failed in comparison to the Volkswagen, I have yet to hear anyone speak lowly of their experience with an SVT Focus.

@@deadhead_01my 6spd Mazda has 200,000 miles on it and it’s doing fine. Needs a new throw out bearing and it’s good to go for another 100,000 miles before it needs a rebuild

I love mine! 232k miles and still going strong 💪🏻 It’s the second longest car I’ve owned out of the 20+ cars I’ve owned. It’s just too fun.

In Europe that's a ST170(focus ST), still a special engine just below the RS. I'm swapping one into my MK6 ford escort(UK), will try and use the 6 speed too.

The 6-speed is actually very reliable. One of the few things reliable on R53 Minis.

It's a shame they didn't make it turbocharged to directly compete with the cobalt SS and the srt4 at the time. The zetec could definitely take it.

Look up the MK1 RS. Then there's the MK2 ST225. In the USA we got the MS3 and the Volvo C30

It wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for the Contour/Mondeo and the 200hp SVT and ST200 variants. The Contour and Mondeos were so much better than the Focus
