Our legends tell of weapons Wielded by kings of old Crafted by evil wizards Unholy to behold We seek the fire lances That slew the ancient race The world where they were masters Now lays in waste
@@Jagger-Tyr_13 you really don't pay attention at all to what candidates or their supporters actually say, do you? Trump was the most anti-war president we've had since maybe Carter. Meanwhile, the Democrats have created absolute chaos in the Middle East by knocking over just about every country that they could. Not to mention starting a new Cold War with Russia. I don't care what news you watch, just watch something. Even people brainwashed by MSNBC and CNN aren't this ignorant.
It's like Ozzy, Death Metal, a Les Paul and a bag of some kind ass bud got down with some heavy baby makin' and 9 months later the Les Paul popped out the Antichrist known as George RR Martin.
have you seen movies? are you from the post apocalyptic future that this video is in and you've ever seen movies on film reels by candlelight like that guy at the beginning? This is gloriously bad.
@@CalindaSharisse this is like emulated 80's metal aesthetic bad, but in the best way. I love it. Admit it, if you were listening to Black Sabbath etc back then and you saw this music video, you'd be losing your mind 😂
well guys I'm 43 and an "old" metal head and all I can say is that these guys ROCK - so tired of the cookie monster/screaming vocals of so many new bands --- THE SWORD knows what heavy metal is all about. They are the future of metal and it's a good one - the roots are in the PAST - they even use classic gear. Awesome!
This should 've been in the Fallout 3 soundtrack as some kind of secret heavy metal radio station run by the Raiders... That would've been so kickass...
Awesome homage to 'Heavy Metal' the cinematic cartoon , here in this video. Wouldn't expect anything less from the coolest bunch of fella's in metal \m/
I found it more of an homage to Ralph Bakshi, personally & would love to see The Sword collaborate with him on a feature-length animated film in the same vein as Wizards...
only a select few could view whats in the box (without being charged by the contents)..a partical excelerator is needed for the next phase... lol awesome video much class!! starwars meets dune meets the exodus meets..the flux capacitor.. (as in could b yesterday or 1000 years).. either way awesome video and well put together.. been a while since i first viewed it.. but it hasn't lost its shine yet..
@EyeOnTheTV I had to come back here and say you weren't wrong. Got the album last week. It is HEAVY. Nice little hidden variation of a track at the end as well.
We've crossed the burning wasteland Sought out forgotten tombs Within this shattered planet Beneath a broken moon We live amongst the ruins Where cities once did rise From graves of fallen nations Watch hollow eyes In our time we have seen Untold pain and suffering Our legends tell of weapons Wielded by kings of old Crafted by evil wizards Unholy to behold We seek the fire lances That slew the ancient race The world where they were masters Now lays in waste In your time you will see Endless death and misery Invoke myth and prophecy All you know shall cease to be
Been listening to these guys on Pandora for years. Never thought to see if they had anything on RU-vid. Doh! If I was smart I wouldn't work construction.
I'm getting more addicted to these guys everyday! They're keeping so much shit alive through their own stuff it's unreal. And to this guy who says all there songs sound too much alike. Dude, how many great bands can be accused of this? Be serious. Who cares! If metal and great rock n' roll are going to continue to survive great bands like this are going to be a big part of it!
Fantastic use of rotoscope for depicting a tripped out sci-fi ballad! Great song, the video compliments it perfectly. But where have I seen an Elk with burning antlers before? It seems so familiar.
hellsoul0 After seeing your post, I listened to a few of the new tracks & they're awesome. Just not the thrash-throwback material form the first 2 records... the ages old metalhead gripe. Thanks again man!
+Warrior Poet The main riff to their new song "Empty Temples" got stuck in my head for days after I first heard it. I even heard it when I was trying to go to sleep! It's very Sabbath sounding with some Thin Lizzy thrown in.
After nearly two decades of being a metalhead, in 2008, after listening to Age of Winters (and liking it), I took a break. Today, I look up The Sword to check the material I missed and . . . HOLEY CRAP, they've improved their sound tremendously. I had to rewind the vid at least seven times, snapping my neck in disbelief, in order to believe it was the same band. The video, the tune. Awesome made manifest. I love pure Doom. But, man, this tune is RAW. I'm buying the album.
man all these people hating the band... i just heard them an i love there old school tone. people who hate are fools, just leave it alone. if you people ranted about every single sound you don't like you'd probebly pass out from the lack of air. please give it a rest. for all our sakes.
@helterskelter1178 on the 23rd in Chicago. Its their last US stop for that tour... Haven't seen them yet so I'm stoked! Warp riders is very *meh* compared to Gods of the Earth in my opinion, but it looks like they've played a lot of heavy old stuff lately. 2 days from now! Wish I was seeing them this weekend. lucky...
@MetalHeadTin Totally! In fact I'd go so far as to say I far prefer this singing over the screamo and growl vocals that dominate the metal scene now. It's good to see a band put musicality in front of the presumption that sounding like you have serious bowel problems or you're being repeatedly stabbed is more metal. Go The Sword!
This is some bad ass, old school shit. It reminds me of when I first got into metal, listening to Paranoid by Sabbath and thinking it was completely epic. The video is hardcore too, I love the concept.
@JonnyMonster91 I agree, but I found back in my mind an analogy with sound of Entombed on album Inferno. I know that this is pure coincidence but it's interesting.
@EyeOnTheTV Yeah, I've heard about the new material. I believe one of the band members touts it as having a sci-fi theme. Haven't heard anything of it yet, though, as I'm concentrating on the stuff I missed for now. I honestly didn't think album 1 to album 2 would bring much change. On the production on the approaching 3rd: well see. But already witnessing many new, potentially legendary bands, altering their mixing tech for some inexplicable reason (not just in metal), I wouldn't say "lies!"
All hail The Sword! Saw them in Bucharest, and I instantly started to bang my head, despite teh f*cking rain. Too bad I was not very close to the stage :(. Sword rules!
@jdavidson091 What a great FOKKEN show, both John(JD) and Bryan were wearing RUSH t-shirts.I was in front about 5 feet away from Bryan. The openers were VERY GOOD. Mount Carmel was very much like Mountain and ZZ Top Their drummer sounded very much like the late Mitch Mitchell. Karma to Burn VERY LOUD and EXTREMELY HEAVY, their drummer equally good, looked like he just came out of a hippie commune. Their singer/guitarist is the son of Dave Davies(Davis) of THE KINKS. GREAT GREAT FOKKEN SHOW
From what I've gathered from the lyrics I think they're talking about nuclear armageddon. The "Fire Lances" are the nukes, the "Kings of Old" world leaders and "Evil Wizards" the scientists who created them.
Holy fuck this song is amazing. Video gives me goosebumps. True to form for The Sword, both the video and song leave me wanting more from the epic tales they tell
Actually, JD Cronise said in an interview that he does not want to be mistaken for Viking metal. This is why there are like no Norse themes on "Gods of the Earth." He wanted to get away from the whole Viking thing. Also, there are many other Viking metal bands. Check out Bathory and Windir.
@tomcornhole A lot of their lyrics stem from books that JD and perhaps some of the other members read. Graphic novels of Conan by Robert E. Howard as well as the "A Song of Fire and Ice" series (the best) had heavy influence on their debut album and Gods of the Earth. Pagan themes are certainly evident in those literary examples, but can you say much different about Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath etc. and their lyrical originality?
these guys aren't used to arena acoustics. They do undoubtedly sound better on album. I thought they did well for their first time out in an arena. I was at the same show as you were, Columbus Ohio, right?
greetings from chile... try to visit us with kyuss lives.. there are just an argentinian band and yajaira from chile playing at the stoner fest.. you guys should try to come
decent video. Amazing song. I've loved The Sword since I first heard them. I always will. I think they're every bit as Good as Led Zep and Sabbath. They definitely have their own sound.
@OldWorldAmerican I thought the same. maybe isn't the elk with burning antlers, but just the Elk. you'll see, the elk looks pretty much like an scene of bambi i think, and yeah, it sounds funny, but the scene of that movie with an elk it's so creepy that it stays in my memorie till now, cos i use to watch the movie with mi little sister when it came up.
@menekali2 Yep, I know what you guys are talking about cuz I'm feeling the same: so sad I found The Sword until now, because they're underrated. This band sounds great, like 70s Black Sabbath trying to play like 90s Testament... SO SICK! Man, if your ass it's not seriously kicked by this song, you probably doesn't have one!
@MetalHeadTin That can't be formulated better! THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT METAL IS ABOUT! Good music, not screaming like hell, trying to make good riffs and end up failing.
