After all these years, this is probably my favorite Sword song. The imagery is awesome, it sounds like some mighty and terrible incantation to thwart any foe that is foolish enough to invade your grim and frostbitten kingdom.
@@jasoncoker1625 warp riders has some seriously sweet riffs on it and I like the smoother guitar tone on that album overall, they matured as songwriters for that album definitely. It's like a concept album but it doesn't tell you it's a concept album 🤣
Sorry to root my horn but when this band first dropped their album. I bought it. When unhallowed was released. Two corner stones rock & metal. And I recognized them.
Their music is right out of every fantasy novel/comic book written. I loved Savage Sword of Conan and this music speaks directly to the heart of that graphic novel!
Saw these guys in Memphis last night and they were fucking amazing! A great moment was when several members of the crowd including myself spontaneously howled at the 3:29 point in the song. Got to shake their hands too, and thank them for the show. PS. I'm actually posting on my wife's acct, sorry.
saw these guys when they toured with metallica a few years ago and even since that show i havnt been able to stop listening to them.. god the sword is good
Úlfhéðnar are well beyond Berserkir. They are Óðinn's special warriors, and elite Viking forces. They are known to wear a wolf pelt (in contrast to regular Berserkir who wear a bear pelt), and to be inhabited by the spirit of wolves. Úlfhéðnar are capable of performing feats far beyond the abilities of other warriors. Úlfhéðnar are hamrammir (shape shifters). They don't wear a helmet or a mailcoat, bit their shield in a rage prior to each battle, kill enemies with just one blow, and are immune to fire or iron.
@@JohnSmith-zi5tc I mean I personally like most all their work, as long as you didn't have an idea of style in mind, and took each one on their own merits. They were all very well done. But as far as this chugging open chord grind metal they were famous for, that began ending with warp riders.
Probably my favourite song from this Album, but they're all so damn good. I was happy when I discovered there was 3 Albums I hadn't heard that weren't on Bandcamp, I hope they come to Bandcamp though
trudging kick ass guitar riffs, double leads, solid drum beats, and a pretty damn good higher pitch vocal...whats not to like?? its obvious these guys took most of their influence from 70's metal, (black sabbath, led zeppelin) but they have a nice infusion of some great new metal syle also... love it
GOD DAMN!!!! If you have never seen this band live.....Do yourself a favor....buy a ticket, wherever they are playing and see them! Probably the most intense show of all time!!!
Yeah, they did a few, but the only one that I could make out the title to was Three Witches(?) I think that's the title. It sounded very good, but it was a bit hard to make out the lyrics. Crowd was stoked on it though, sorry for the late reply.
@F4R207 You will. J.D.'s singing has improved alot. This was their first record. Check out stuff on Gods of The Earth(2nd record) and Warp Riders(latest record)
I think that could almost be said of any band, except that when you listen to their songs more and more you start to pull apart all the small little distinctions that makes each song rather unique. The Sword just takes a little longer than most bands.
The Song reminds me of a thrashier version of Fairies Wear Boots by Sabbath, and the video reminds me of The Nazgul scenes from Fellowship of the Ring and The Sabbath Bloody Sabbath music video. Sludge/Stoner/Psychedelic/Classic Metal forever!
my teacher told me to look this up cuz he said it was a good band and i guess he has good taste in music cuz hes also in a band and likes metal: slipknot disturbed korn...all that good stuff
Interesting, still have a tough time with the flat monotonous vocals but the instrumentals really hits home. I'll keep listening and maybe I'll warm up to the lead vocals.
