The Sylvers was a family group the air time that they deserve, they were a great group, I always thought they were competition for many other groups that were out there at same time! But Sylvers thank you for your Music contribution to us all to have heard and enjoy your songs! God Almighty your family!
I keep forgetting that someone said one of them comment that Mario who the R&B singer and played on the movie Step-Up, who look alike Edmund Sylvers as well
Don't stop get off have been my favorite Sylvers funky jam since 1979 and I still do my ugly funky face.(Greetings from Chile and sorry,my english is not good). On the one, here, there and everywhere☝️
This was the last album of hits before the fall of this great group came .. Don't Stop was such a great song. I used to play this album day and night...Man my child hood days were made fun by being a fan of the Sylvers and the Jackson
+Lee Shepherd But don't sleep on Concept and Bizarre. Both of those albums had some awesome songs. Concept is excellent from the first song to the last song. it just didn't' have any marketing due to legal issues going on between the group and their manager at the time. Bizarre is also a strong album. I can't say anything bad about either of the songs on it. Both of those albums should have gotten MAJOR airplay. It was just foul what happened during that time. Concept should've been a Grammy winner for them or something.
Music biz can be strange...The 2 albums should have been promoted heavy ...why have a group record for a label and put so much work into putting it together,,But then the label you record for not promoting the F out of it ..Making it BIG as possible ?
That last move edmond pulled off at the end of "dance with me" kills me everytime i see it. He was showing whoever and himself a good time. I loved me some angelia. I can pic her out at a distance!!
Wow .... they really put on a show and it is so nice to see them working it, bringing the heat!! Edmund looks so good here, bless and rest his soul. I wonder if they've ever watched themselves on here. I bet they would really be proud of the body of work they've done.
I Remember They Performed Those 2 Songs On A Show Called "SOUL ALIVE", The Host Was DJ Jerry Blodsoul From WBLS, The Show Was Aired On WPIX Channel 11 Back In 1979!!!!!!!
In my opinion their first 3 albums were the best! These are more of their pop/crossover songs! Even Leon, the oldest brother stated that he hated these songs!
HAD POSTERS ON MY WALL OF THEM RICKY WAS MY ❤ MY FAMILY LOVED MIKE DOUGLAS GROWING UP HE ALWAYS SHOWED RESPECT TO AFRICAN AMERICAN ARTIST JUST LIKE HIM AND DICK CLARK🙏
Edmond's got the "Off The Wall" look....just seeing it now ….and someone wasn't going to have it.....so sorry they got 'stopped' - the music biz....at least they got somewhere...so many talented ones get nowhere.
Jarrett Cone they were there before the jacksons..... lol you tried. Either way both families are great not fun to compare when it’s like apples and pears, I wishe the Sylvers had as much success, it’s magical then ppl like you say dumb shit like that and ruin it🤦🏽♀️😒. My prayers go out to the fam and RIP to mama Sylvers🙏🏽
Thanks for sharing My eldest brother has me on this Sylvers’ quest if you will and as I’m listening to Don’t Stop Get Off it resonated that this song is where Zapp’s ‘Do It Roger’ got a part of that jazzy line from. I love it!
I think Edmund Sylvers was handsome and fine at the time but he had a son who name is Jeremy Sylvers, and his son were a actress/actor on the movie that he played on ‘Child’s Play 3’. Then, now, I found out that he’s grown up to be a man as handsome like his dad Edmund... Like WOW!!!
Two things I find interesting on this clip: 1) On "Come Dance With Me" from 2:29 to 2:55, when Edmund is dancing with Angie and Pat, and the funky voice is saying "Rumba...tango...," I remember James lip-syncing that part on "Soul Train" and "Merv Griffin," but he's not doing it here. 2) Whenever the group performed "Don't Stop, Get Off" on TV, James would lip-sync Leon's lead vocal parts. He's doing it here if you really watch, but none of the cameras do a close up during those parts.
Don't stop get off is the DOO DO I was just waiting on the mothership to land and George Clinton to come out and wave his hands over them this got p funk all over it never heard of before it's on my playlist now though
man i just was thinking the same thing. i'm surprised i had to scroll down this far just to see if someone peeped that. even his energy and performance style. change that outfit black...and you got that iconic performance from MJ relived. i wonder what came out first.🤔
Good question. He spun around and quickly hooked the mic🎙 onto the rear mic🎙 stand. He retrieved it when he finished dancing with his Sisters. Edmund had some slick moves.🕺🏽
kick out your lead writer over a white dude that will cheat you big time and your group will never be the same because he own your songs and not a writer or performer---- that is why u read the fine print.
The group sounded so diffrent with the younger sisters 👯♀️ which wasn’t a bad thing but worth Olympia and charmaine they sounded more soulful and mature ..the forever yours Ablum was slept on honestly
Daryl Woodard 😂😂😂 and yet his debut album(was it ever released ) says different ....he’s good in his own right just as Weird Al Yankovich is good in his own right I guess
@@thetruthandnothingbutthetr6484 Despite what you are implying, he did release a solo album, probably a few things happened behind the scenes that caused him not to blow up. Still a talent.
In terms of albums, Off the Wall was SO great! But the Sylvers voted to let go of Leon-if he continued to write and produce them, no telling how many more hits they would’ve had? The Sylvers went downhill when Leon left. Also, MJ wasn’t doing show stopping performances until his next album, Thriller. MJ had appeal and greatness but he didn’t let loose until Billy Jean.
Okay folks gettin caught up in their feelings..As much as I like The Sylvers and Edmund he was not even close to Michael...Michael from a child was otherworldly talented..Yes I think The Sylvers had more to offer creatively but The Jacksons had Michael and nobody..I mean NOBODY could touch that.
