@@reneejohnson9256 - Let's hope their sent of duty come from mom's side. The dad left the mom to raise those 10 children alone. I think the oldest was no more than 15 or 16 when the man left. Shame.
The Sylvers deserves a star on Hollywood walk of fame behind the geniusness of Leon F. Sylvers Jr with his devotionness to help everyone from Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Shamalar, & Dynasty etc.
On one end, I am totally for them getting a star. On one hand, they deserve it and it sad seeing lesser lights get one. On the other hand, with the cesspool that Hollywood is, maybe they don't want one.
Not my generation, but I've been on a 70s music run for a few weeks and dang, seems like a great time to be alive, for culture and music. Not sure what happened : (
@@tbseverythingadobe4999 definitely not bigger because think about the sylvers became big after the Jackson5 blew up so put them on Motown people would just think of them as a j5 copycat I’m glad they didn’t join Motown they are great
I saw that and i thought it was part of the show. After i looked at it again i see that he did drop it. He played that very well. Smiled and kept goin.
Teresa Bonner NOW I WISH JUSTIN BIEBER AND HALF THE MUSIC BUSINESS WOULD DROP A MIKE 😂😂 AUTO TUNE NO TALENT PUNKS THE SYLVERS SHOULD HAVE THEIR RICHES THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD REAL TALENTED ARTIST AND MUSICIAN AND SINGERS NO AUTO TUNE NEEDED 🥰
The parents started hustling with them early...late 50's till the 70's. Leon was a real musical talent and went on to produce some great RnB songs. Everybody tried to create the next Jackson 5.
Something about family harmony is really rich. The 5 Stairsteps, Osmond's, Jackson 5, Debarge, the Winans, Tavares and Take 6 with closed eyes and good headphones will take you to a special place.
Listen!.....back in the day when you would see the the Sylvers, the Jacksons or any of the soul/R&B groups of that time sportin' the huge afros! Made you feel proud to be Black! Ya'll know what I'm talkin' about!
I Respect The Jackson's & The Sylvers!! Regardless Of Theirs Afro's That They Was Sporting 😎 😎!!! It's About The Soul Music 🎶 🎶... That They Brought To The Stage 🌟🌟 And To Television 📺.. The 2 Best Of Family Groups / They Are The 💣 💣 💣 💣 💣 💣 - That Did It... I Salute6 Them 2 Singing Group's.
Adorecream 1976 Lies. Mr. Sylvers was not white like the Debarge father. Here's how he looks... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Fkdz0_E7Ts4.html
@Adorecream 1976 Facts Check NO HE WAS NOT! Look at the Groucho Marx RU-vid video of their parents & stop sounding ignorant please! STOP the HATING & bi or multi racial is not a bad thing!
I was the happiest girl in the world when I got this album I learned every word to every song and me and my sisters had those maxie dresses like there's, mine was light blue, I thought I was so bad when I had it on....miss them 70's
Just look @ our beautiful people's. How can we not love ourselves?. Why we allowed another so call race to make us hate ourselves, which @ the same time they all wanna be you?... Mom & Dad thx you for blessin the world with soul music...
Soul Train brings me back to my awesome teen years. Listening to the show and watching the groups was always a treat. Love love the 1970's music and the clothes were awesome. Bell bottoms and l had a shag hair cut. This group should have been bigger than they were. Still love them 🎤🎹🎼💖❤💖❤💖
When Prince( R.I.P) first came out he had a Sylvers ' fro too.I remember seeing him on the cover of Right On! with some short red shorts and assumed he was about 5'11" it wasn't till YEARS later I found out he was only about 5'4". That ' fro fooled me
SOME OF THE ' SILVERS' WERE NOT BORN YET BUT, I SAW THE OLDER SIBLINGS SING, A SONG IN THE LATE 50'S ON 'YOU BET YOUR LIFE' TV SHOW. GROCHO MAX, B&W TV SHOW.
KAREN G GRAY I’m a huge Sly Stone fan, just saw the You bet Your life episode, love that family and was stunned to see the children here decades later.
makes me almost wanna cry....god where did all the time go.........i remember that soul train intro like it was yesterday.......1976 lol i was 7 yrs old then.
A lot of you are making nice comments about their hairstyles the Afros... *They used to braid their hair up at night and called themselves unicorns...*
I grew up with the Sylvers and the Jackson Five. Every time I hear the song "Cotton Candy" I experience some great memories! I'm glad I came up in that era of great music and entertainment. There's a video of the Sylvers which was recorded in 2017. And they still have the quality! Amazing!
I used to beg my moms to let me grow my hair so I could have a SYLVERS Fro!! ahh Man...Them Sylvers sisters were my first real Crushes!!! Leon was the foundation !! Fools Paradise and Can I Talk to You were two of my Faves
Love the Fros, Music, Lyrics, Choreography and the little fella that sounds so much like Michael Jackson. R.I.P to the family members that have passed away and thank you for bringing us cool dance tunes from back in the day. 😎
This was one of THEE BEST groups around!! My favorite (and youthful crush) was Olympia! Did she ever sing any leads on any of their albums? I know she has acted in a movie.
Olympia sang lead along with Leon on the duet called, "Ain't No Doubt About It." That song is on their "Something Special" album. I agree with you about them being one of the best groups around.
You know every time I listen to The sylvers the first thing I do is I will put a thumbs up, then I will look to the right and see how many thumbs are down, and then I wonder what do these people look like putting their thumbs down, I think they're probably jealous or miserable, and ignorant the silvers are one of the together families who stick together that's very rare even in this day and time you don't hardly ever see families together doing things anymore so I think it's very cruel to put a thumbs down on someone who is star status.
Loved that the clip included the intro with the animated soul train traveling through a tunnel to different places (notice how the train starts out in a 70s planetary scifi type landscape :)
I've been a fan of Leon Sylvers as a producer and songwriter ever since the Solar Stuff in the early 80s. (Shalamar, Whispers, Dynasty etc.) But, I actually didn't know he was such a good singer and performer *in his own right* in the 70s. Limitless talent!
Hey, Almost forgot the singing sensations/teeen idol the Sylvers ,they had made impact on the pop and r and b chat s, sing in harmony and they had dancing skills, they were just as five Stairstepers,Osmonds, snd jacksons. That good feeling music,I wish they had reunion.God bless soul train,American Band stands,u tube,Google, and the 70 and 80's music !!!!$!🎥⏪🐘🏰🈯🎈⬇🐘🎥👻⏫🐘🏰🏰⬇🐮🎥🈲🎦🎦🌆⬇🔡🏤👻↙⏫😭😛😝😙😔🈲🈵
Choreography was smooth as a baby’s behind!!! If you had a big Afro you were considered fine as all get out and so these dudes definitely lived up to that rule for the 1970’s!!!
