Something about this was incredibly wholesome. I am not sure it it is Joswiak‘s laughter, everyone seeming to be best friends including Siracusa in the audience, Craig being able to talk openly about all the things they have done or just everyone on stage absolutely loving their jobs and what they are doing. Thank you John Gruber!

@Smellythief
@Smellythief 5 лет назад
It sounds wholesome and best friend-y because he doesn't ask anything that might draw out new information or that goes against their talking points. And I don't mean he should be confrontational, but he could say, e.g., "Your new display is great but do you think you left a hole in you line-up for non-pros who want a second display that isn't ugly? What do you guys use?" There were a bunch of opportunities for real questions that he never takes advantage of, and maybe that's why there're willing to be "interviewed" by him. Caveat: I'm stopping halfway through watching this cuz this it's boring. Maybe when I come back for the second half I'll be proven wrong, but I doubt. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he does these. I'm glad they do these. I watched it last year. I'll watch it next year. I'll come back and watch the second half of this at some point. But this is Softball Central.
@Hans-jc1ju
@Hans-jc1ju 5 лет назад
smellythief godowndahole there was definitely new information shared, for example when Craig mentioned the reasons why apps launched faster. It is not the point of this interview to try and force them to reveal secret information, but have them talk about what they did and talk more about their reasoning, the mechanisms or other details that might have been skipped in the keynote.

Craig is without the doubt the biggest personality at Apple. I love seeing him talking about things. He's so humble and he talks in a way that we always learn something new and laugh a lot. He's the most important man at Apple, not Jony Ive who doesn't say anything all the time.
@clementcardonnel3219
@clementcardonnel3219 5 лет назад
I don't know why you would want to oppose Jony and Craig. Both are tremendous leaders of their own team. Even though Craig has unmatched charisma, Jony's contribution to Apple can't be understated. Since the industrial team has the last say when it comes to decision at Apple, Jony is the most important person of this company seconded or equalled only by Tim Cook. But all of this doesn't remove a single hair to Craig's merit at both leading the software team and being *the* presenter I'm looking forward to on stage. 🙂

One thing that is often forgotten in all the talk of craig's charisma on stage is the fact that he has significant knowledge in the intricacies of the technologies. I think he's a genius and he clearly has some genius level engineers working with him. They're designing languages and user interfaces and working with new hardware technologies across mobile watch and desktop hardware etc. All of these technologies have a lot of thought put into them.

I always look forward to these, my only issue is that I feel John loves the sound of his own voice too much, and he just takes WAY too long to ask his question and just rambles on. You have these execs for a very limited time, I would prefer if a larger percentage of that time was allocated to them speaking, instead of him. I feel like he could have cut his time by at least 50% and still conveyed the same Qs, giving them more time to respond and possibility of more Qs.

SIVA SUBRAMANIAN PARI ARIVAZHAGAN Lots of people did detailed tear downs of the Catalyst tech in macOS Mojave, which was basically in beta and not fully fleshed out, which clearly irritated people at Apple, hence his sarcasm. And the “not comfortable” thing is a joke because he doesn’t wanna have to sit and think about whether that’s a fully appropriate analogy for a representative of Apple like himself to sign off on

The reason he's not comfortable with that analogy is he would have to admit that the existing frameworks were going to be depreciated. Apple doesn't make announcements like that prior to release. Then it is a fait accompli.
