If the Tardis is dying it's because it knows it represents the entire franchise, which is likewise on its last legs. They've done this series to death and ran out of original ideas years ago. And I've been a Whovian since the second episode in 1963. The BBC have destroyed the series.

After 3 Painfull years of Jodies Doctor I feel like the TARDIS dying is a metaphor for the sorry state of the show. Let's hope the Doctor and the TARDIS regenerate and put both out of there misery.

Would like to see a season arc of the TARDIS dying. Have series 13 end with the Doctor warping reality to save the TARDIS then have Doctor Who series 14 (or series13B), Torchwood series 5, Class series 2 and the Luke Smith Adventures all be about the respective teams trapped in this new reality having to fight Faction Paradox and set the universe right. I would like Yaz to see 13 regenerate.

I know that back in Classic Who the BBC toyed with the idea of "Modernising" The TARDIS... Something the Writers were not 100% happy with... But for fun, They did have the Doctor try and repair the Chameleon Circuit which resulted in the Tardis Changing form constantly for a short time... Including into AN ORGAN! The idea that the TARDIS might be Dying is feasible... Its is according to Canon a "Living Machine" after all... And I think for someone like Chibnall and some at the BBC who feel Doctor Who needs to reflect "Modern Era" would also be an excuse to "Get Rid" of the Blue Box... ...BUT WILL FANS STAND FOR THAT CHANGE??? Now thats a question to debate!!! As a Fan of Both Classic and Nu-Who... F**K NO! LEAVE THE TARDIS ALONE!!!

In an ideal world, I'd have a big fuck off season finale with The Doctor regenerating halfway through the story, like Stolen Earth/Journey's End but she actually regenerates, similar to how Colin Baker's first story was a season finale Use the Christmas/New Year special to be Yaz's last episode, with her struggling to adjust to the new Doctor because she was in love with 13 Also don't announce the next Doctor or even officially announce Jodie leaving. I wanna be surprised. I'm hoping the season finale could be The Master with the Cyber Time Lords invading Earth (involving the revelation that the timeless child was The Master please) and then maybe leading into the festive special being another Daleks VS Cybermen type beat. Neatly wrapping up 13's story arc, leaving 14 to essentially be a soft reboot. Bam.

If this is the case, I don't understand the motive behind implementing this as the series arc. The timeless child revelation didn't work for a large chunk of the fandon (including me) and for it to work, I'd have thought they would've furthered this arc in this next series. Not throw in that the TARDIS is dying? I suppose we can only judge until the series has been completely aired, but at the moment I remain cautious.

First time we see the Doctor in Spyfall part 1 we see her working on the underside of the tardis and you can see that she pops a tube out of the bottom and it looks like the Tardis’ petrol is leaking

I think the Tardis is starting to die because like you said, the whole story of the timeless Child is happening in a parallel universe, causing the Tardis to die. And the reason the Tardis work at all in this universe (as opposed to season two where she stopped working the second she got there) is because the universe they are in is really really similar to the central universe.

I hope this series arc is good and will factor in every episode.

Here's an idea if they can't actually travel to other planets to film the scenes maybe they could use a quarry. I've watched a lot of sci fi and most alien planets look like quarries.

Chibnall isn't done yet he'll have the tardis stuck as a rubbish bin. It's already trash now rub it in.

They need to do the origin story of the valeyard as an evil version of the doctor would be brilliant , it would raise the ratings so much and give the doctor a new enemy , him/her self . Perhaps this could be integrated into the timeless child timeline and would explain why Gatz tried to kill the Doctor and why the Timelords authorised it.

I wouldn't take the Doctor's word in Age of Steel for granted. If you die, you die. Dead. Finito. No way back. The TARDIS had a tiny little light, a spark of life, trying to recharge (which the Doctor helped with), so couldn't be dead.

Since the Doctor and the TARDIS are linked through their symbiotic nuclei, what if the TARDIS breaks down and in order to fix it, the Doctor has to sacrifice herself and the regeneration energy helps fix the TARDIS. The reason the TARDIS died going into Pete’s World was because the link to the Eye of Harmony was gone and the TARDIS didn’t have any more power

honestly, the best they can do is just pull "it was all just a dream" of Capaldi's Doctor after getting hopped up regeneration juice before he officially regenerated. then pass the torch to a suitable doctor.

In my flat, while social distancing...I don't know how that would be possible as she'd need a human vessel presumably. I'd just like to see that again as a throwback.

They can go to Pete's world meet Rose and the Metacrisis Doctor who have grown their T.A.R.D.I.S and are able to heal the T.A.R.D.I.S. Bringing Jack with, giving David a chance to come back as the 14th Doctor with and the Metacrisis Doctor as companions.

Happy birthday Joe, hope you have a great day :) As what i think about the tardis dying, how is it possible when it's alive, i get the tardis has also been broken with its circuit. but jodie's doctor wasn't the only one to overshot it. 9 did in aliens of london, thought it was 12 hours when it was actually 12 months?. but it would be a interesting to see. kind of the vice way of series 10 as 12th doctor choose to devote his time to becoming a university proffesor but sneaked off for teaching missy and bill through the universe. So if jodies doctor's tardis just stopped working it would be interesting to see and also how she deals with it. Especially with monsters and enemies around. Also happy birthday again, Recentley had my friends birthday and my birthdays on wednesday.

Maybe the angels will zap Jodie into the past and the tardis will be left alone to die... Until the Fugitive Doctor restores it and uses it to go back and save 13. And the only way to save her is to let the angels feed off of the Fugitive Doctor's life energy instead of 13's and that's why Jodie doesn't remember Jo. Because timey wimey.

I know this is dumb, but what if the frust episode is a 2 parter in which the angels take like the second heart of the TARDIS (badum crash) and now the doctor and her (slightly smaller) gang try to hunt them down for the rest of the series, other villains caught in the heat. (like, Imahine if there was a different weeping angel with a piece of the TARDIS per episode)

I hope this comes true. It could make for an interesting/original story arch for once. Just have someone besides Chibnus write it.

Under Chibnall the awful Doctor Whittaker has had absolutely no relationship or connection to the Tardis and has used it merely for transport, so it wouldn't surprise me in the least if these terrible people killed / replaced the Tardis, as they have destroyed everything else about Doctor Who. The only problem is, the majority of Doctor Who fans have stopped watching, so it doesn't matter anyway.

It’s a good theory, very sad but interesting. Because the Tardis was old and almost ready for the scrape heap when the Doctor stole her, as we fine out that all other type-40s have been decommissioned. She must have a finite lifespan.

I've always thought this entire era took place in a parallel dimension. The TARDIS immediately breaking down on 12 becoming 13 (just like the severing of universal connection this post says the TARDIS needs to have), the Timeless Child and the Ruth Doctor just not fitting in any where in previously established canon, and the cavalier destruction of Gallifrey after so much has been made of saving it, and that no one on Earth has any concept of aliens after so many very public invasions have occured in the prime Who Universe just point to the Doctor having fallen into a parallel dimension.

They've destroyed everything else to do with Dr Who - not exactly surprising that people expect the woke crowd to screw up the iconic TARDIS too.

As much as I hate to admit it but it does make sense the Doctor's TARDIS was a busted down museum piece when the Doctor took it and with the Timeless Children arc even longer than that so I guess the TARDIS is at its last leg. But I have hope and right now that is exactly what we need, hope that Doctor Who will be great again.

Who knows? However, Clara did tell the Doctor when he was stealing the Tardis that, although it wasn' functioning well, he'd have loads more fun. Its largely been repaired since then with its Chameleon circuits functioning although not used - except for an internal redesign every now and then. So, following your theory, will it go back to a "classic" look? However, like all machinery ever made (on earth at least), entropy gets to them and they wear out, bits need replacing and, in theory anyway, may need an update now and again. Time for something different?

If this is Jodie's final series that means the next doctor would still be new and it be his or her second series in the 60th anniversary which I feel wouldn't impact as hard I'd rather they have Jodie until atleast the 60th then regenerate. I still think Ruth is going to be the next Doctor I bet on it id rather that than Pre-Hartnell. The TARDIS is a machine how can it be dying it's living but it's also a machine. I hope in series 13 we get this timeless child arc sorted out and done so we can move on to good writing.

Here is my theory , The BBC who office talked about changing the Tardis , now props are cheap to make , as l don't live in the u.k. I am thinking of the 2nd model Telephone glass can be tinted & used instead of the Police Box ( l understand that it has fallen out of favour with the public due to the word " police " writen on it, please correct me if you know better. )

What if the Tardis is breaking down BECAUSE it's in another universe! The 10th Doctor even said the Tardis gains its energy from the universe and it did die in Age Of Steel! This is some more evidence that The Tardis was trapped in another universe! It's slowly breaking down because its trapped there! The only reason it didn't die immediately is because of RUTH. Her Tardis is connecting with 13s Tardis which is probably draining energy from the 2 resulting in BOTH of them slowly dying. 13s final story could have 13 getting out of that universe but Ruth dies permanently and the Doctor (13) combines the soul of Ruths Tardis into her own giving it energy to live and more years added to the Tardises life span????

Your idea about the Tardis and the Doctor maybe using her regeneration (endless) engery to restore the tardis would be great. Maybe she uses so much regeneration energy for the Tardis, she is no longer 'timeless' and now just has the twelve regenerations for the future. Nice

The Tardis should be critically damaged in the 1st story and throughout the series its repaired and given new features. Maybe a few episodes in the series Tardis is "alive" again, then in the next episode a Coordinate upgrade that was taken on their adventure is added, then the next episode could be the shields being added etc. The series arc is restoring the Tardis with bits and pieces throughout the Doctors adventures through the universe

Aside from the box appearing to die, it nearly looks like its just blending in with its previous exterior colors
