The Taxidermist House & The Squirrel Mystery - Red Dead Redemption 2 

Are we just going to ignore the fact that she said that she did this with humans once?

Two other things to note: 1- how did Mrs Hobbs know what John wears because she’s dresses the squirrel in Johns outfit. Strange 2- in her basement, one of the “sets” she built with the animals has a crow wearing a top hat. Could that be a strange man reference?

As someone whose family is into taxidermy, I can say that this is exactly what a taxidermist is like

Johns face when she said “I tried this with humans once”. He was like “wait what now?”.

I took this as a fight between Abigail and John. Abigail thinks the squirrel statue is hideous, while John thinks "It's Art" so she keeps hiding it, and John keeps finding it and putting it back on the shelf. The final location is intentionally ridiculous for comedic purposes...

If they ever add an undead nightmare dlc I really hope there’s a scene where you can go to the taxidermist house and all the animals are gone and the woman is dead

I find the "John Marston" squirrel to be adorable.

I think it's Abagail moving it because when I placed it back once and was walking the ranch doing the small tasks I came back to the house and her say "how does that squirrel keep coming back?".

I'm pretty sure Abigail is the one hiding it. You can have a dialogue with her where John asks if she's seen it and she'll say she hasn't in a somewhat suspicious manner.

I kind of feel sad for the lady. I think she's just lonely and wants people to talk too.

It's funny how the squirrel has John's true original outfit. The bottom button is undone and the shirt is beige. It's not like that in rdr 2

When I did this quest, and Abigail asks John "what is that?" before John could respond I went "It's art!" and like a second later John echoed my sentiments. Made me like John even more.

When John left the house, I 1000% thought he was gonna chuck that squirrel into the bushes as hard as he could, lol

I've always thought it was Abigail who would move the Squirrel around, when you meet her during this "questline" she'll act funny, I figured she didn't like the look of the squirrel and wanted to get rid of it, and the fact that it ends up in the mountain does NOT exclude her, as she was hanging around a freaking outlaw gang a few years prior, so she's tough the real mystery is in the squirrel's outfit, which matches John's default one, but the taxidermist never met Marston personally, so what's the deal?

Once you get 100 percent on the game.. You can enter the taxidermy house when ever you want..

I love how both Abigail and John are both so ignorant as to what art is that even when John says "It's... Art" he sounds like he's trying to convince himself. Also the "Oh, thats what they call it" line made me actually chuckle, the characters in this game are so good.

The locations you find the Squirrels would be alot creepier if it was found in Armadillo or the McFarlane ranch, places relevant to Jonh in RDR1. Make it lay down Infront of the barn doors that would be morbid.

I like to think Abagail hated it so much she hid it around Beecher's Hope, and when that didnt work she hired someone to take it to Mt. Shann. Imagine how she will feel when John casually places it back on the mantel.

Let me just say this is the exact kind of in-depth walkthrough of lore and actual in-game experiences that I want from games media. I had no idea the Squirrel moved around. I have played so much of this game, hundreds of hours all in single player between my first full honor playthrough and a 2nd one that is staying in Chapter 2 just before Arthur goes to collect from Downes. I really enjoy Fizhy’s content because it is in stark contrast to other game personalities. I get so fed up with games media and “influencers.” One such RU-vid/patreon outlet had the audacity to say they hated the game because Arthur was a “bad guy” and they did not even get through the beginning hours. Doesn’t a game about redemption need to start its protagonist as a clear scoundrel? Perhaps this game simply offered too much player agency. This person even sat in on the “review discussion” with their coworker that did not even play it but still found negatives. Fizhy , thanks for giving us the kind of content that shows your passion for and enjoyment of games. I learned something new about a game that I have played near 500 hours of.

The hunting requests are probably the hardest part of the game. Finding them is one thing, but getting perfect kills is even harder.

What's interesting is that the squirrel's outfit seems to have been pulled directly from the first game. It has the exact same shirt, bandolier, gun belt, and gloves John wore in the RDR1.

Probably just Abigail, she doesn't really seem like she likes it so she tries hiding it, but john keeps finding it. So she goes to the place she thinks john would never go to, the top of a mountain. But if this was the case, idk why she didn't just burn it

One thing i love about rdr2 is that no matter what whenever i set a marker for waypoint i always end up getting sidetracked before i get there with just some random thing that happens and makes me completely forget what i was doing in the first place

I like to think that i sell my animal carcasses to Mrs Hobbs in online. I even thought of a little bit of dialogue for Cripps talking about this “You ever heard of the people we are selling this to?” “That strawberry taxidermist would like this for sure” “You ever heard about the taxidermist in strawberry? Shes been acting strange lately, since her husband died of cholera.” “This’ll fetch a nice price. Especially with that taxidermist”

This whole line of hunting requests legit made me question every life choice I've made as I feverishly hunted for every single animal that would refuse to spawn when I was actively searching for them.

Squirrels represent spiritually to not take life so seriously, to take time and have fun and bring laughter into your life. John tends to be on the more serious side, he makes no time for fun and laughter really ig you could say, so maybe that's why the squirrel moves? Maybe it's just messing with John, idk if any of this makes sense, but just a thought.

John is actually a meme, everything he says or how he reacts is just awkward and funny

i am sad that this turn out to be a creepy story. I thought the taxidermist was going to be someone like Charles Chatenay... Like a cool crazy artist that makes stuffed animals. The lighting in the house makes it look creepy, but when you see the basement with normal light it looks like a cute doll miniature house.

The squirrel statue moves around because Abigail is 100% trying to get rid of it without getting rid of it. When you bring something into the house that you like but your wife or girlfriend isn’t particularly fond of, they’ll move it around to make it less visible and if you put it back where it was, they’ll do what they can to make it less and less visible each time. As for how it got on top of the mountain, to me that’s one of the devs laughing to themselves going “Lol Abigail got so tired of it she climbed a snowy mountain to hide it.”
