Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RU-vid, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RU-vid. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RU-vid, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Motown was criticized for not being relevant and the songwriters took this to heart to reflect the conflicts of the late 60s early 70s. War! What is it good for? ❤🎉❤

Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong wrote many of Motown's greatest hits -- "Money (That's What I Want)", "I Heard It Through the Grapevine", "War", "Smiling Faces Sometimes", "Cloud Nine", "I Can't Get Next to You", "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone", "Ball of Confusion", and "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" to name several. When you're ready for more sixties psychedelic soul, check out some of these tracks: Sly & The Family Stone "Everyday People", "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)"; Brenton Wood (aka Alfred Jesse Smith) "Gimme Little Sign", "I Think You've Got Your Fools Mixed Up", and "Oogum Boogum Song"; and Jimi Hendrix "Rainy Day, Dream Away" and "1983....(A Merman I Should Turn to Be)"; The Chambers Brothers "Time Has Come Today", "Funky", "Uptown to Harlem".

I was in high school/college during the 60's. A lot of music genius was part of the times. Motown and R&B certainly was an aspect of that. Two of my favorites are by Lou Rawls...Dead End Street and Tobacco Road. There were just so many excellent groups from this time. Temptations, Miracles, Supremes, Major Lance, etc., and let's not forget Sam & Dave.

Yay! You reacted to my favorite Temptations song! I love it so much I got a couple of ladies together and we performed it on stage. The ladies had never heard it before, they were very young, and they learned it because they fell in love with it. These lyrics have been relevant over all these years. Happy New Year!

Try “Friendship Train” 1969 hit by Gladys Night and The Pips. Great message for its time and still today. But more than just a message it is a great track that will get you moving. Opens with funky bass, then cowbell, fuzzy guitars, horns and then the glorious vocals of Gladys Night. Studio version please.

Graduated from High School in the '60s, we couldn't live with Motown. Nobody cared about the color of the music or where it came from. If it was good, it was good. Music that touches your heart brings people together. You learn from music.

A song that has a similar theme is "What's Goin' On" by Marvin Gaye. Very different vibe (but it's awesome) but similar current-events-relevant lyrics. It came out less than a year after the Temps' song -- no signs that it was cribbed, the feeling was just in the air. "The band played on" was a song first published over 100 years ago in 1895, which repeated the phrase "and the band played on" over and over. I think the songwriters (and Shilts) got the phrase from that earlier song although they used it in a very different way. (BTW if you haven't read Shilts' book, it's a real eye-opener about the AIDS epidemic.)

Wonderful song. Something of a mess lyrically, just like the name suggests, like they weren't really sure what to protest, so they threw everything in there. Also one of the great one chord songs. Probably made more use of the bass than any other Temptations song.

I was around during all the Vietnam protests, (although I lived in Hawaii at that time where there were no protests), and I think it's good to get this message and be a part of trying to change things. But the kids took it too far. Public protest just leads to destruction of property and accomplishes nothing. The war would have ended anyway, because of all the deaths and defections of US soldiers. And it was a quagmire over there. There were better ways to protest then, and the same is true now. Look at Kent State and the shootings. If the students hadn't used violent protests as a tool, the shootings wouldn't have happened.
@mikecaetano
@mikecaetano 7 месяцев назад
If the national guard wasn't sent to a college campus armed with rifles the shootings wouldn't have happened either. The establishment clearly took it too far, killing students who were on their way to class and had nothing at all to do with the protests that day. There were better ways to conduct foreign policy than to prop up colonial interests who were already losing a civil war. The same is true now...
