Paul wasn't sick - this performance was on The Leslie Uggams show - watch the follow-up video == Paul and Eddied and Leslie lead The Weight and Paul sung his but off.
ppl why do u have to b so negative saying messed up on choregraphics these is best male group of all time a lot of other groups try to imitate, and even duplicate their steps but they cant, they r humans like we r so they make errors stop hating and congratulate, Paul best dancer ever RIP Temptation forever!!!!!!
This era u gotta understand these folks sit on the internet and nitpick and criticize folks who accomplished great things and reached places that most of us haven't fathomed to see! I seen a restaurant on IG donate food to a medical center Staff who was helping folks during the Covid 19 pandemic, someone actually commented a remark saying but why didn't they give food to the ambulance drivers! This the type of world we live in folks will always find something negative to say
HONESTLY PEOPLE AIN'T GOT NO SENSE AND BETTER THINGS TO DO, THAN COME ON HERE IN BE A KILL JOY. THESE WERE THE BEST TO EVER DO IT MAN. LOVE THE TEMPS! I'M BORIQUA AND STILL LOVE ME SOME TEMPS MAN! SHOOT!
Loved to hear and see Eddie Kendricks sing. So many times he was smiling with that beautiful smile showing off all those beautiful teeth. I'll look at it over and over to see Eddie smile.
Otis always played his position and allowed the other giys display their talents where need be and he never hop in a place on songs just because he could! Thats what makes him a great leader
The second classic lineup.. The introduction of Dennis Edwards. Those of ( young) who were David Ruffin fans, were quickly swept off of our feet when we saw and heard Dennis. He became OUR guy!!
to those hating on Otis....he is the 2nd tenor of The Temptations which is the MOST important note in ANY harmony situation and without that middle note, THERE IS NO HARMONY..it's the note that makes the harmonies ring and as a veteran singer myself, trust me....IT'S THE HARDEST NOTE TO SING AND REQUIRES SERIOUS SKILL so Otis was a bad muthafucker in his own right....He never claimed to be on the same level as the main lead singers of the group nor did he EVER fight to be a lead singer....He knew what his strengths were and played his role as an occasional lead singer.....STOP REACHING....
I agree with you, but Otis sang the baritone part, which is above the bass but below 2nd tenor, Paul was the 2nd tenor. Baritone IS the harmonic glue that "makes the harmonies ring." In an actual 4-man quartet, the 2nd tenor is the lead part, they sing the primary melody. Trust me, I'm a veteran "quartet man."
Melvin is having a LOT of fun dancing...Otis looks like a 19th cent gent with his hair and sideburns...Eddie's smiling throughout, I've never seen anyone with such perfect teeth...great performance!
This is my favorite Temptations song, as well as one of my favorites from the late 60's. I also really like Dennis Edwards' voice. I hope his wife gets what’s coming to her, like a taste of her own medicine…
Dear Rodney, even I asked myself aloud whether or not those teeth were real ... you know ?!?!?! But then I was drawn back into the music and forgot about that ... 'burning issue' ... !!! ... Avuncular chuckles !!!
Damn! I was thinking the same...his teeth are deadly weapons that can kill without even touching you...if he were a superhero, he would be called the White Lightning.
This phase of the Temptations' legacy signaled the shift from the sweet soul of Ruff' and The Classic Five, to Dennis and the acidic rise of psychedelic soul. Each style appropriate to its point in time. Each lead singer etching his distinctive voice into recorded music history. None did it better.
I LOVE IT! The choreography got me all giddy, as if I'm seeing it for the very first time! I remember these days so well, so excited at waiting for our favorite tv shows to come with our favorite artists. Everyone in the house was in on the party, as there was one TV and Momma and Daddy ruled. Good thing they were both party animals, and that gave me my love for my people and our music!!
R.I.P. to the singers who played by actors/actresses from the 1998 minis The Temptations Tammi Terrell - 1970 Paul Williams - 1973 Elbridge Bryant - 1975 Florence Ballard - 1976 David Ruffin - 1991 Eddie Kendricks - 1992 Melvin Franklin - 1995 Joltin' Joe Howard - 1999 Johnnie Mae Matthews - 2002 Cholly Atkins - 2003 Norman Whitfield - 2008 Mama "Rose" Franklin - 2013 Richard Street - 2013 Jimmy Ruffin - 2014 Dennis Edwards - 2018 Mary Wilson - 2021

Profiles in Pittsburgh 🖤💛🎶 This video of cloud nine is especially superbly done by The Temptations. I love the ACT I loved how they stepped in unison together and kept one smiling through it all which made my heart full of pleasure listening to this song. Thanks for letting me see this video. The Temptations are dressed so sharp. And they are so very handsome. Forever sister Nora Rose Parker Carter 🖤💛😘
We never missed the temptations when they were on TV . Mom would read TV GUIDE write temptations Ed Sullivan sun night and tape a note on the tube so we wouldn't miss it. Our friends came over and it was fantastic. What an Indescribable time to be alive and young. Music was at its best, no pointless swearing in the songs it was great
Listening and watching makes me sad how fast Eddie’s voice deteriorated by the time Reunion came along. Amazing voices. Dennis, Paul, Melvin. Amazing talent.
Eddie had his best friend Paul's back when he went to the front with Melvin to do the steps that would have been sooooo painful for Paul. RIP to them!!!
@SLady328 ....yess....I remember doing that with Mr. Kendrick♥ but now I'm obsessed with the Les Twins😍😍 If I ever get the chance I'm taking it!♥♥ I love them soo much its crazy!! God knew what he was doing the day the Les twins were created😍😍
@SLady328 ...thank you! He has a banquet tomorrow...also I have a 13yr old son who plays drums!! Not to mention 2 girls 18 & 15😥....Where does time go?? I love me some Les Twins😁
@SLady328 ... Wasn't he though?? If I ever get a chance to visit one of my sisters (she lives in Hazelgreen, Alabama) I'm gonna visit his grave sight...♥💞💞♥
Back during the early 1970's we used to hang out at the Cloud Nine in Olongapo City, Republic of the Philippines when we were in port and on liberty after returning from on line in the South China Seas off the coast of Vietnam. It was very popular and always entertaining. Anyways, I love this song and always have since Day One.
For those you that have something negative about Paul Williams choreography... I guess you have never seen Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin on Don't Look Back miss a step on the choreography.
Oh dear GOD ... these beautiful men that constitute that 'quintet' (musical group of five) known unto man as "THE TEMPTATIONS" ... their choreography ... their soul ... their voices... their essence ... all the instrumental cadences, climaxes and cadences ... UNCLE JUST LOVETH THESE DEAR MEN ... EVEN BEYOND 1969 !!! IF ONE HATH A PROBLEM WITH THAT, LET ONE CALLETH THE POLICE ... BECAUSE UNCLE IS STILL LOVING THEM !!! Dear publisher 'DiscoNights1987'' ... thanks for transporting us all the way up to "CLOUD NINE" !!!
David Ruffin Was Only Gone One Year After Being Let Go From The Temptations Back In (68) And Started His Solo Career Same Year. Around (1969) He Was Working On His Hit Album Feelin Good (1969) That Album Was As Good As His First Album My Whole World Has Ended (The Moment You Lefted Me) (1968)
Otis may not have been a up in the front singer, but he was the one keeping these guys together and grounded. Although he could have handled Paul's situation so much better.
I hope you're not going by what you seen in the biopic? While it was good, it did have a lot of inconsistencies and inaccuracies as well. Paul had sickle-cell anemia which had his health declining in addition to his alcohol problem. Plus he was still getting paid from the group, as well as still being a part of the group as an advisor.
I remember a White Boy criticizing Michael Jackson's Voice on "I'll Be There" when I was a Kid saying he sounded like a Girl, I corrected him saying every Black Singing Group always had someone singing the High Parts (Falsetto) and they were the most popular with the Girls. In future years "White Boys" emulated Falsetto. Barry Gibb Of The Bee Gees, Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake, Jordan Knight of New Kids On The Block, and Bryan Abrams Of Color Me Bad.
Michael was 11 years old when he sang I'll Be There, who cared if he sounded like a girl, we girls liked the song. I was just a few months older and a fan of his.
Poor Paul. I really hate his demons was on him. So much pressure of being a superstar while dealing with life. When you watch stuff like this you feel like you know them and wish you could reach out 🤧
