This is actually a really educational and stylish way to look at techno & it definitely helped me better understand certain terminologies and jargon surrounding the genre/related genres. It's also horrifying and I'll never sleep again in my life, but you win some you lose some

What I find beautiful about these "rules" is that they describe that techno is not even necessarily electronic music. Quite a few artists have demonstrated that if you apply the same rules regarding exploration of timbre and rhythm to analog instruments (kitchenware, symphony orchestras, and everything in between), you achieve a recognizable techno sound all the same.

I would actually play this at a club night, it's such a banger. There's some huge Green Velvet energy in it, isn't there?

I don't really know what I just witnessed, but I know I want to witness more of it. What a cracking way to do a tutorial, this was awesome!

This was actually amazing dude. When you raised the tension it got tense, and when you released it I actually felt calmer and the fact you were explaining through it didn't make it any less effective... That's a real skill you got there.

The entire track is fantastic, from idea to execution, but the best part of this for me was when you say "Fill up the lows" and that rumble kicks in. Instantly took me from listening in my kitchen on headphones during the day to midnight at a dark warehouse with haze and lasers. 10/10.

This is such a FUN way to learn!! Rather than *explain* how syncopation works, you demonstrate it, then give us a word to associate with it. Giving specific names like 909 and 303 also give you things to actually search for and pick up, without overcomplicating what they are. I love the repeating theme of showing us a few possible choices we can make at certain points (kicks, bass, acid), and demonstrating them, before deciding which one. Swapping the "part" in and out so to speak helps us figure out what part of the song you're talking about in as few words as possible, and gives us a limited and actionable space to play in. Finally, rules 8-10 equip you with tools on how to experience your music and understand your intent. My personal favorite is 9; This is a physical music. It sounds silly, but bobbing and dancing to the beat you're making really helps you not only understand how "danceable" it is, but reminds you that you're making something made to be experienced, and that you should be making something that makes *you* dance. I'm still a newer artist, but this video convinced me to start messing with more techno.

It took me such a long time for number 9 to fully sink in...Techno is music that you feel with your body! Awesome video
