@@ReligionOfSacrifice, I prefer A New Hope to Empire Strikes Back for a couple of reasons. The main reason is, Empire had a great opening but a dull, almost motionless middle & an exciting end. A New Hope never dipped & was on the go from the opening & had a great conclusion. Those two are the ONLY two perfect Star Wars films though, Revenge is in at 3rd & it's damn close to perfect! The other 4 are good, just not as good. Not including the recent 3 chapters. Not even going to try.............. I also prefer Terminator & Alien to their sequels, although Alien & Aliens are damn close!
@ReligionOfSacrifice
@ReligionOfSacrifice Год назад
@@GGGritzer, I disagree. The beginning and end of "Empire Strikes Back" are great, but there is some amazing worlds being shown throughout the whole movie and the actors are already introduced and are having at it with their relationships and interactions and I think was worth all of it. Now the 3rd movie would have been good, but it wasn't. It was no where as good as the ending of the original triology. It could have been better if Yoda holding back to see who was the master sith suddenly realizes he has to step in and attack the Emperor to save the universe and they fight which we all were waiting for, but then Jar Jar Binks fights dunken master style with Yoda and when Yoda kills him the lightening goes into the Emperor who is flying away to see Anakin and Yoda suddenly doesn't feel the need to worry about the Empire as Darth Vader will bring balance to the force. Anakin does with Leia as the meddler in politics and Luke as the Jedi trainer. Then we would know why the lightening approached Darth Vader and then went down the tunnel to the Emperor's dead body. Anakin was not going to be an empty vessel willing to take on possession of the dark force.

@@ReligionOfSacrifice, I loved the first 2 & always will but I prefer ANH a little bit. ROTJ could have been so much better. Kahn's novel is a bit darker & even a bit better scripted. Another thing I wonder if people catch on to, is when Kyle is being interrogated in the police station and he goes on saying "He will wade through you" just how prophetic those words ment. I used to manage another reaction channel and have spent quite a bit of time watching others, and I can say that you have a very good start here. I like how you're picking the movies so far. When you start with the Top 250, the odds of a bad movie are pretty low. I really like how you do a rough edit and then come back to finish the conclusion. So many comments talk about things they think you missed and very few realize the insane amount of time you have to spend cutting down the reaction for the YT edit. So coming back with new thoughts after that process is a great thing that most other channels do not have. Your edits are also very tight. You're not leaving scenes in that don't advance the plot or where your reaction isn't interesting.

The sequel gets so much attention that I feel this movie gets overlooked. This is my favorite of the franchise and one of my favorite movies of the whole decade. It was made for less than $7 million (that wouldn’t even cover the catering on a modern big action film), and nobody thought it was going to have the impact it did. Michael Biehn in particular solidified himself as one of my favorite actors because of this performance. Obviously you need to check out T2, but there are some other Cameron 80s films you should look into as well. Love the reaction. And yeah, one of the things with a fully analog phone system was that your phone call occupied one line. The system would route the call automatically, but in order for an office to have two phones with their own separate number, you needed to pay for two physical phone lines. That changed around the decade when we started getting dialup modems in every home: you didn't want that 45 minute download ruined because your dad lifted the phone somewhere else in the house. What I like about this movie is that the terminator is a machine. It doesn't get angry. It's not upset. It only follows its directive, and is perfectly OK with leaving people alive if that is more expedient. Oh, and the movie making is impressive indeed considering it was a low budget movie at the time (whike the sequel was one of the most expensive movies ever).

It's great to see someone react to these movies who goes in knowing no more than we did when we saw them in the theaters. I almost feel like I'm watching it again for the first time. You have to watch Terminator 2 now. It's one of the few sequels that's even better than the original. Other Arnold movies yo might want to check out are True Lies, Eraser, and Last Action Hero. If you're using the imdb list of best movies, at some point you have to watch #1, The Shawshank Redemption. It's one of the best movies ever made.

You gotta love this stuff. Closed timelike curves, causality loops, multiverse theory....time travel's a mind-bender because if you really think about it, you're not changing history at all, but you're creating a whole new timeline from the moment you arrive in the past, branching off from the prime timeline, which is the underlying premise of the Terminator series.

You don’t talk too much or too fast for this. I love your summaries. Been binge watching your videos thru Christmas. I’ve watched a lot of reaction channels this year,…maybe too many. I am so impressed with yours. Your editing is perfect, I love your enthusiasm and that you get so many cultural references of my generation. Boombox, Mr. Rodgers, Black Sabbath’s Iron Man. So many, I am losing track. Also great that you go in blind, but you rewatch and research and touch on so many key things a lot of us were hoping you would notice. All of the above makes it rewarding watching with you. Oh, the wholesome nature is great too!! And so many good movie choices. I could go on.

I think you will do just fine as a reactor. You will become a little less nervous with time, although it is so cute to see you watching and thinking and talking all at the same time. This movie changed the game for action movies. And then, we had to wait for years before T2, but it was worth it. My favorite Arnold movie is 'True Lies', although it can't compare to 'Kindergarten Cop'. Oh, by the way, we ARE judging you... and the verdict is .... subscribed.

It'll be interesting watching your Arnold journey: all the movies you mentioned, like "Kindergarten Cop" or "Jingle All the Way" were later in his career after he had established himself as a Badass. Part of the appeal of them was seeing the quintessential tough guy in silly roles, but you get to see a comedic actor suddenly turn tough guy...

Kindergarten Cop is awesome. No shame there. 😀 "You looked sad. I always wondered what you were thinking." She was thinking about him. That was just the perfect loop, seriously. Such a well done movie. And the sequel is better on so many levels. The eye removal was horribly disturbing. You not wanting to watch that is completely understandable. I still tend to look away during that part, and I was sixteen when the movie released, so no judgment of you there. 🙂 Terminator: Judgement Day is the end of the two part Terminator story, and you will watch it soon I'm sure, just based on how much you enjoyed this one. I'm looking forward to that reaction. And, really, how can I not sub to a cool name like Whimsory? This was the era of deep stories told quickly. It wasn't all about the "boom!" FX like a lot of modern garbage, it was about a deep story that gave us something to think about if we were so inclined. That's why I love these kinds of movies. 🙂

And while I'm sure others have already mentioned that Terminator 2 is considered to be one of the best action movies of all time -- the haunting melody that the both movies carry both in the main theme and occasionally in the movie is also something quite memorable, as the numerous recreations across RU-vid show . Great reaction... Fun Fact - One of the punks in the beginning (with the blue hair) was played by Bill Paxton - the only guy in film to be killed by a Terminator (1984), an Xenomorph in Aliens (1986 - also directed by James Cameron) and a Predator in Predator 2 (1990) Bill Paxton would work with both Arnold & director James Cameron yet again in 'True Lies' (1994) and with Cameron in 'Titanic (1997). Lance Henriksen who played Detective Vukovich would also work with Paxton again in both 'Aliens' (1986 - also directed by Cameron) & 'Near Dark' (1987).

@@Metzwerg74 Removing Tom Bombadil from the first film and the Scouring of the Shire from the final film had more to do with the inherent differences in narrative pacing necessary for making an effective 2-3 hour film being markedly different from how you're able to effectively build and resolve the continuous flow of tension in a multi-hundred page novel. This is largely why other long-form narratives in the streaming era have favoured episodic series over films as there are larger allowances for time that can be allocated to differently paced arcs that more closely match the narrative structures of the written works that that they're based off of. However, those modern long-form series all benefitted from what _The Lord of the Rings_ films accomplished by breaking ground for that type of film being made as one large concurrently orchestrated project, but especially within the fantasy genre after the Swords & Sorcery films had mostly died out to Science Fiction by the mid-90s. That's why they're impressive as cinematic achievements from both a technical, cinematic, and narrative level, even beyond very effectively delivering Tolkien's story. Anyone who's vapid enough to believe that the people who worked on the _LotR_ films had less dedication or understanding of the source material than themselves, or that the only people who love them are just fanboys or the dumb masses is drowning in a sophomoric level of their own ignorance so deep that I'm glad I was spared the dreadful experience of being regaled with any more of your unfounded and ill-conceived hyperbolic drivel about them. And for future reference: No one even asked for your juvenile contrarian opinion on the matter, so next time just keep it to yourself, because it's not an opinion that's worth anyone's time. At least then you'll spare the uncomfortable inconvenience of the whole interaction which is the best thing you could choose to be doing for everyone when you have a thought like the ones you've shared thus far. Until such a time as you can learn when your comments are adding something to an engagement rather than detracting from it - good riddance to you and nothing of value was lost by your timely departure.
