The greatest Canadian ever. No fame, no fortune expected. Not a politician, not famous, not a television personality, not a movie star. Just a guy that wanted to make a difference. An amazing wonderful person whose story still make me cry with gratitude even all these years later. I'll never forget hearing those awful words on the television that he'd died and seeing the nurse crying. You did us proud Terry and we keep it going in your name. Bravo.
@@twincomanchepa30 Joe pace The cancer that Terry fox was originally diagnosed with before it spread to his lungs was a rare bone cancer called austegenic sarcoma And it is indeed curable now through science and research Funded by you guessed it Cancer charities like the terry fox foundation
Im mexican and because of my job I might move to Canada in a year or so. Im trying to learn more about your country and your people and I found this true hero. What a man, what a heart! Such and inspiration person to many others.
@@Ryan07665 You can blame the church for the abuse in native residential schools. What you don't hear about are the testimonies of people that benefited from getting educated in those schools.
Wow I like to think I'm a pretty tough guy, but 3:10 when he's breaking down talking about having to end the marathon and go home made me start crying like a baby. What a hero Terry was. RIP you brave soul.
Jonathan Bradley Through all that pain, he kept running. He ran and ran until he couldn’t make it. Canada is wonderful and it is truly an honour to be a canadian.
He's not just inspirational to canadians he's inspiration to mankind ... when i was a kid in school we learned about terry but at the time i just couldn't feel the pain as now .. now i understand that he's a truly inspirational human being he was .. legends never die ! As a Canadian and a human being im very proud of this young guy terry ! 👏
I remember the day Terry died, and I felt so sad then. Years later I drove by his monument close to Thunder Bay, and thought he went this far which seems incredible to me. Now, sadly it looks like I've joined his fight, too. The doctors' suspect I have a slow growing form of leukemia. I keep thinking about Terry a lot during these days and it keeps adding to his poignant saying "a marathon of hope"....
Next time your knee hurts, or you have a headache, or you just dont feel like getting up for work, think of this brave kid and try to realize what he did, and the pain he was in when he did it... then get up and thank God for the pain you have... And then thank Terry for what he did.
Terry demonstrated what it really means to be a Canadian. To care for your fellow man, and to always go to any lengths, no matter how difficult, in order to help people and try and build a world with less suffering and more loving and caring.
Right now, my 8 year old cousin is suffering from bone cancer, also in the right knee. She still has over a year of chemo left, followed by a long recovery period, but if it weren't for Terry she might not even make it.
As I saw the google doodle today I clicked on it to read about this extraordinary man and his immense passion for his cause. As I watched the video I cried part of me felt like I knew Terry like he was my friend.....I walked in his shoes for just a moment and felt his joy and sadness too. Rest in peace oh brave one for your work continues I know you must be smiling down on all who took your torch and carried it all these years....God bless you Teri and the foundation that continues to advocate for a good cause.
I remember the marathon of hope very well. I was 19 in 1980, three years younger than Terry Fox. This means alot to me.I lost a couple of good friends to cancer.
As a kid I always understood he was a hero. As an adult I'm mind blown this guy was only 18 and achieved that much of a fundraiser goal and did it one step at a time. That much money in 1981 is no joke at all. He went all the way past most people's limits and he did it on foot. Incredible.
I've just read a children book to my kids about his biography, I had to stop the reading because of the tears tearing down my face. Such a persistent and inspiring person. By the way one of my favorite children's park is named after him.
I travelled across Canada in 2005 from BC; and was honoured to see Terry's monument. It was breath-taking and brought me to sobbing tears! He was such a self-less humble young man on Earth; and I think his greatest message was to use our gifts or trials in life to help others. He seemed to have such a sincere infectious love. Forever; many blessings to such an inspiration!!!
Im an immigrant of Canada, never identified as a Canadian, but after reading about him and listening to his story, I can say I am very proud of be part of this country. Lots of respect for this young man. Rest in Peace Terry.
I am an American citizen and i am just now discovering who Terry Fox was. In an age where the people in my country are seemingly more divided than ever, it brings me immense joy to see so many people around the world universally inspired to keep his dream alive. As cliche as it sounds, Terry Fox really was living proof that anyone can make a difference no matter what struggle you may face.
A true inspiration to us all, I’m the same age as Terry when he past away at the young age of 22, he showed us all that we should never give up. RIP Terry Fox you’re a real life hero to so many people.
I'm so proud of terry fox he is my hero he is so humble he deserves all this love we will miss you terry Many Canadians are proud of you thank you terry
Guys some people dislike maybe because the facts are not right or its too sad or it made them rage knowing he died. Don't assume its because the don't like Terry.
I heard Terry fox story today. I was crying when I knew his last moment . He is alive to me because his body is dead but his spirit is alive in my heart.
We learned about him when we were kids but can we please take a second to realize how truly young he was ?? I thought he was a grown ass adult when I was in school, THIS WAS A CHILD 😭💔
Until today I had never heard of this hero from Canada in my 55 year life. I'm from the Netherlands, there has never been enough attention paid to this Canadian hero here in the Netherlands, well, the Dutch press has always been a disgrace to journalism.
This is the first time I've heard of Terry Fox. I am not disappointed, not just a Canadian hero he is A hero from Canada, because his story should be inspiring not just too Canadians but to everyone.
Terry did us good he helped many ppl but he died..... But just cause he died doesn't mean we have too stop all of this! We have terry fox runs every year and we had one today! so help find a cure
I forgot to mention; he obviously had an incredible support system to help fulfill his dreams...where-ever they are; he also wouldn't be the man he became without them
Growing up as a child I freaking loved this guy. The annual Terry fox run was my favorite part of the school year. I have no idea if Terry fox is still being talked about in schools like when I was a kid, I really hope he is.
As a teacher, I open each school year with a theme. This year, the theme is Plato's Ideal of "Beauty" as found in developing a strong sense of "GRIT" as a lifelong ethic. This video about Terry Fox will be my prime example to open the school year this year.
This is the strongest person i have ever seen in my life. What an inspiration to the world .He is truely a real life hero. Above and beyond anything i have witnessed. Rest in peace terry. You are truely amazing
Wow.....I live in England and I've just looked this up to see who Terry fox is.I received an email from my cousin telling me his little girl is doing the Terry fox run at her school in my name..I feel extremely honoured...An inspirational young man setting the example and helping young people following behind to aspire to their own great deeds......
Terry is the most wonderful, heroic champion on earth and I have never been so proud to be Canadian after what he's done. Terry had a heart of gold and will be remembered until eternity for all of Canada. Hopefully thousands of people will have prevented cancer/ treated cancer.
In Singapore, there used to be a marathon in honor of Terry Fox. It was awe-inspiring when hundreds of participants came down including those who are physically-disabled. Recently, when I heard Gloria Estefan's song for the Olympics, "Reach", it immediately got into thinking about the Terry Fox story. Brought tears to my eyes just thinking about it.
What an absolute HERO . WHY have I never heard of Terry before !! Pushed himself far beyond the human spirit and ultimately his physical limits to help others..He paid the price with his own health and life..This BOY is the ultimate HERO ❤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Love,Respect and Admitation .. from Scotland ..
I've never seen something like this .. I'm so emotional right now ... One of the best thing I've seen so far on the whole Internet ❤️🙏👏👏 What a brave man My God ... 21 years old and thinking about changing the world with his good intention ❤️❤️ I don't have words to describe what am I witnessing on the internet right now 🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
Whenever I start losing faith in humanity... Heck! Whenever I start losing faith in myself, I think about Terry Fox. This man is the very tangible example that limitations are a mindset. I know, there's things we don't control, and privilege is a very powerful tool in society. But even so, Terry Fox became immortal. I'm from Mexico, and I didn't knew anything from him, until I moved to BC. This man inspire me
its so sad he died but he's a hero right guys and he's so good at this he tried his best to make it but he died on Ontario. It is sad but he got lots of money for donation for cancer research.
Terry Fox was one of the reasons that inspired me to start running a few years ago. A Terry Fox run was organized some years ago in my country (only once so far) when I was still a kid, and ever since then I knew about him. Impossible to describe what he did just using words.
running a marthon a day just geting up and saying im the one that can get shit done is pure foce of will and detemanchon on with with one leg how just how
was shown this video yearly throughout elementary around 10 years ago and never thought much of it. Now I'm in college and his name came up in my head again. All I can is that this guy is incredible. The amount of dedication and courage he put into this run, I still can't comprehend. Absolute legend, I will forever remember him. Rest well in heaven ❤
Brought tears to my eyes, RIP brother what a golden heart you have that you ran with condition to help bringing cure to the disease, hope your sould have found peace in heaven.
I got shown the Terry Fox film when I was a student in high school, a few thousand miles across the Atlantic in Bonnie Scotland in my Religious Education class, several years after Terry had died. His name stuck, and many years later I looked him up online, read a bit about him, found the film again, on RU-vid, and watched it again. Some of it is hard to watch, but it is so inspiring. I am glad Terry got the appreciation he deserved, and so sad that the cancer came back and he died. But he helped save many lives and his good work continues. He didn't let himself be beaten down and he was not defeated - cancer did not stop him from achieving so much, and this not for himself but for other people. He witnessed horrible scenes of others suffering and set out to do something about it - and he succeeded. RIP Terry.
Just here bc I has a essay homework to do abt him. I wanna say he is such a very brave man, a young man who knows how to keep his dream. Eventhough he didn't get to finish it, he still did his best. And eventhough I am not into these kind of stuff, I'm still gonna say he's Canadian's legend's pride.
I remember as a child seeing Terry Fox run through my town since then Terry has always been a hero to me since I have had family and friends that have dealt with cancer some lived and some have died but there are not many 21 year guys like Terry Fox he did not have to run across Canada to raise money for Cancer he choose to do it and that's why Terry is such a hero to me.
His brother Fred came to our school to speak today. Before I barely knew about terry’s story just like everyone else. But today his story really touched me deeply... it’s unexplainable. Getting to know Terry more as a regular person just like all of us. Nowadays we see him as a famous person and a symbol, but he never did and it was never a part of his motivation. His heart was so pure and I couldn’t help it but admire this man so much... Hands down he’s one of the few people that I look up to the most. just that energy and hope that he had, I can hardly imagine anyone else having it. RESPECT
Terry Fox is the very embodiment of what it means to be Canadian. He makes me proud to be Canadian as should we all. What he has done to bring awareness to the disease that affects us all is be nothing short of spectacular. He will always be remembered as one of the most influential Canadians to ever live.On behalf of Canada that most if not all agree thank you Terry Fox for giving us and continuing to give us hope.Nothing is impossible.
I'm British and I'm disappointed that I'd never heard of Terry Fox until about 10 minutes ago. I suppose these days, with the internet, the whole world would know about him if he was doing this today.
@Andrew JS Ya dude he was a special guy.He motivated a country.Your right about that.He was such a positive guy and what he stood for.I am glad that you know who he is :) He is more a hero than the "Spare" wheel Harry hahaha 😆 😂 "HARRY TWAT" could learn a thing or 2 from Terry haha
