I just realised the cancerverse’s name is twofold, since it both refers to Captain Marvel avoiding death but also the fact this universe is uncontrolled, unrestrained multiplication of life. Clever.
This was the end of the pre-MCU Guardians of the Galaxy and the start of Thanos's character regression into a less intelligent and thuggish brute who completely forgot about his character development and his friendship with Warlock. Although he managed to trick Evil Mar-Vell into summoning Death in the Cancerverse.
When this mini-series came out, I bought the first two issues, and pre-ordered the next four (?) to my local comic shop, and when I went back in to get the rest, they claimed that they "never came in." I never gave them my business after that.
5:00 except during this period up untill Annihilation, Thanos was no longer interested in getting mystical macguffins and trying to convince Death to love him and became a reclusive farmer and pilgrim who would occasionally help Adam Warlock save the universe. We see this phase of Thanos in Infinity War, Infinity Crusade, Infinity Abyss, The End and the Samaritan series leading up to Annihilation.
ROB could you PLEASE do stories explaining the history and backstory of the different empires in the Marvel universe? like the history and founding of the shi'ar, or the skrulls. we know they exist but how'd they form and whatnot. that'd be epic bro. thanks for all the great videos.
Your enthusiasm for comics and the way you retell stories always makes me excited to get ahold of these issues that I may not have. Your the best of the best when it comes to RU-vid comic stations!
I mean there’s an obvious lovecraft influence in the many angled ones, ex. Fthagn being used in the chants, but it’s really cool how the og writer of Conan was friends with H.P. So they used each others mythos in each others stories. Cool to see it bleed into modern marvel!
I like how "shart- uh, start" and also "how much command can you respect" (amongst other honorable mentions) were still in this one 😆 these vids are SUCH a well-detailed breakdown, and both quality and quantity get a solid *"A"* rating in my book
Dan Abnett basically is the uncalled leader for the Black Library. Everyone has a say, but it seems he is the frontman for the entire 30 and 40k universe lore.
immortality is one of those things that sounds like a good idea until you actually think it through then not so much . just watch death becomes her to see just one problem with it
Hey Rob. know you won't read this but many thanks for filling a void late in my night schedule where I'd otherwise be listlessly scrawling through Netflix. Love your content. As a long term comic nerd since six (now thirty) I live a double standard where I may (or for the sake of not completely incriminating myself) or may not pirate everything except comics. As someone who can't afford every comic past and present on my wish list watching your content is a visual feast of a compromise. Plus your undying enthusiasm for the medium really is catching. Keep up the Good work!
I'm soooooo loving the content brother !! I can not believe i just found your channel !!! Feel like I'm late to the party !!! Better late than never , right? !!
I see where the new Marvels Gaurdians of the Galaxy game took alot of inspirations from. Also Have you made any videos about that bro Id love to hear your take. Personally I LOVED IT.
I think it'd be pretty dope to find out that this is also the origin of how the cosmic cube was made. Being used to contain an undying being in a collapsing universe. It'd play into the whole tesseract 4D thing.
That would be cool if Mills Lane was the living tribunal and he said “get it on”, like in celebrity death match with the clay people. That was awesome.
The one thing I'm curious about is how Marvell became so incredibly powerful to the point where he controlled the whole situation? Was it the sword that the many angled ones bestowed upon him? And if so, what exactly did that sword imbue him with?
@John The King Robinson no, they usually say something along the lines of "An 8 ball of coke for whatever i want, done!". Though I'm sure they get cheaper rates from yours.
Wish they portrayed Thanos more true to the comics in the MCU. I really love the real original (comic) version of Thanos. And the comic book version wouldn't need any infinity stones to destroy the Avengers. And: so the Living Tribunal is technically useless?
to be fair, even with his powers nerfed in the movies, he was still too much for the Avengers. only snapping him away with the Infinity Gauntlet actually beat him
aaah i remember these books , it was back when marvel had real artists working for them not people who design info pamphlets like how to fasten your seatbelt on flights things like that . graphic designers they hire today
I wonder if their immortality shouldn't be limited as Inifinite Stones are limited to their own respected universe so the main Marvel universe's stones wouldn't work in a different reality like Cancer-verse or DC-verse. Another question is Mistress Death a multiversal being or does each universe has its own version?

Wonder if Shuma-Gorath is related to Cthulu? His race are the Many-Angled Ones too. It's so cool, comics borrow from all types of literature and add their own flavor.
She knew... Mistress. The Mistress. She knew, even if she made him feel as though he had completed her wishes, he had pleased her. *She says nothing, walks away. And what do you think Thanos will do? Go eat tacos? NO! HE'S GOING ON A KILLING RAMPAGE AND MISTRESS DEATH, in all her beautiful foresight, will have those deaths as her trophies. And don't forget for her, this is just a Tuesday! Hahahah* I love it!!!!
Hi Rob, I asked sometime whether you could do a piece on 'The Stranger' - would love you to cover his origin, powers, motives etc. Great stuff in the meantime!
I love how people say Rob would be a bad guy because he agrees with the stuff like humanity is a plague and all that. It's funny because we are. The internet is a great example. But as soon as it comes to comics and movies and media we all relate ourselves to the good guys and say to ourselves "I would do thr right thing and save everybody and peace and love" But no one does that!!! We think "I'm not selfish!" Yes you are! It's sucks but you have to be!!. You need to get that money to live and be happy and to get money you have to use people. It's the world we have chosen and choose to keep. I respect Rob for recognizing how it is. There's a difference between wanting to be a good person, wanting other people to think you're a good person, and being a good person. And this worl is not built for good people to accomplish anything.
His narration doesn’t make sense “he’s a little above your level” followed by “he’s wayyyy more powerful than you” and the amount of Kindas is insane I wish his speech was better and less colloquial like comicstorian
I find it perfectly coherent. Also you really hit us with the " I hope his speech was better" that sir is no way to construct a sentence. I hope you improve your writing in the future. Lmao
