My friend and I were wringing our socks out after this ride, soaked head to toe and anither guest stopped with a look of absolute horror on her face and wanted to know which ride we went on so she could avoid it 🤣
One of the few Raft rides to actually get you soaking wet, most get you slightly wet or just bait you into thinking you're going to get wet. Went on this like 13-14 years ago and I remember me and my whole family coming off soaked from head to toe
I hate this ride because there’s no element of chance to it like other raft rides. There are just waterfalls that soak you no matter what every time it’s not actually anything to do with the movement of the raft that splashes it’s just waterfalls and jets.
Love this ride! Got on twice in one day, back to back. One of those people dryers and a full day walking around in the sun later, and I was still soaked 😂
Truly one of the best rides at universal and yet one not a lot of people talk about, I remember during my childhood everytime I went to universal I always wanted to ride this and the employees were always so kind and let me ride twice, even if it means it’ll get too busy for me to ride it immediately twice again I hope more people learn about this lovable water ride
I used to hate water rides where you got absolutely soaked, because I hated walking around the rest of the theme park with wet clothes. Even nowadays with those dryers that they always have, they never get you completely dry, plus the price to use them is normally extortionate! Yet I went on this ride, got absolutely drenched, and because it was a baking hot Florida day I was dry within what felt like mere minutes of getting off the ride. And I had such a blast that I got right back in the queue to ride it again!
Thanks for the "quiet place" tip, that part of the park gets a little crazy congested at times! I loved seeing the trial runs! I have wanted to be a part of designing and building one of these attractions since before WDW opened!!
Awesome and insightful video. I feel like you’ve done the majority of the e-ticket attractions and more. I don’t want the USF/IOA videos to come to an end. They’re so good. So I guess I’ll give my longtime suggestion of Poseidon’s Fury or better yet a comprehensive video on The Lost Continent-and a new one, Doctor Doom’s Fear Fall? Once again thanks to Jack for explaining the ride story that is missed due to all the chaos on this attraction. Keep up the great content. 👍🏻
Isn't Florida getting a revamped Jurassic Park [World] update? Or is that in California? That would be a good time to revisit the ride maybe? [so tired of the old animatronics!]
Popeye is the greatest! I love the comics, cartoons and of course the Robin Williams film. The Popeye ride and area is easily one of my favorites in all of Islands Of Adventure.
This is the best episode that has appeared this year so far! Popeye is a world sensation is a very very good comic and I still read some to this day! This channel gets better every day!
Can you do Mickey’s Philharmagic and Fantasmic Also, this isn’t related to the Ride: Popeye is the one to have a restaurant where people like to have a cat fight at for some reason. Look those up

There's some pretty fascinating history at Lagoon Amusement park in Utah. Specifically the terroride and Dracula's castle. They were made by one of the most famous haunted house ride makers. I think even for yourself you'd like to look into their history.
My family’s favorite ride. To end the week we rode it 15 times in a row continuously over 3 hours. Only stopped because the Sun went down. Highly recommended.
This ride never fails to soak me to the skin when I ride it. When my family and I are in toon lagoon, we do this and Ripsaw Falls back to back first thing, leaving us to spend the rest of our time in the area sun drying. It’s a pretty effective schedule.
My 2nd favorite water ride. It is certainly the best of all the round boat style water rides. We were among the first of the public to ride it - we attended the first pre-opening day at IoA, Popeyes wasn't open at the beginning of the day but around mid-day we lucked up to be walking by when a team member started telling people it would open soon. We went ahead and lined up, having no idea what to expect. We made it onto the 3rd boat!
One of my favorite memories was riding this with my family. We got on right before the park closed and it was pretty dark out. We didn’t realize how wet you got and we all had to walk back to our hotel room in the dark completely drenched 😂 I’ll never forget that
I remember on our last day in Orlando in 2005, the park was basically empty at the end of the day, and the ride operator just let us keep on going in the ride. We must have ridden it 20 times in a row. It was the best.
dudley soaked our front, popeye our back sides... we were quite surprised to say the least. in germany you do not get that wet on water rides... holy smokes that was awesome!
My wife, son, daughters, mother, mother in law, brother, step brother and my other wife were all tragically, permanently soaked on that ride. The park covered it all up and we never saw a dime.
Of all the theme park rides I've ever been on, this is the only one that makes me laugh the whole time. You're constantly approaching a spot where someone will get doused. The anticipation builds so much tension... then you get wet and scream from the shock or someone across from you does and you hoot and holler at their expense. By the time you get off, you'll basically be as wet as you would if you had jumped into a swimming pool but this is more fun!
This is one of my favorite rides of all time. OF ALL TIME. I mean, sure, it's got Popeye in it, whatever. IT'S SO FREAKIN WET. When it's 90 degrees you need this thing.
Oh man, I remember Popeye growing up, loved the show and knowing this exists makes me wanna ride it! I love Popeye and water rides! Thanks for this, really, knowing that such a ride exists.
I really loved that ride. My family and I went to Islands of Adventure back in May, and I absolutely enjoyed it. It was the very first ride we went on, too. We went on that ride as soon as it opened, and that there was no long line yet, so we were the first ones to go on it. My family and I had fun on the ride. We all loved it (except for my niece. She didn't like getting wet/drenched. I personally had fun on the ride, and I didn't mind getting wet. I was gonna go on it twice, but I didn't. I kinda regret not going on the ride twice when I was there, but I still had fun, especially on that ride. I wanted to see Popeye and Olive Oyl at the park, but unfortunately, they weren't there on the day my family and I went to Islands of Adventure, so I wasn't able to get my picture taken with them, but I did buy some Popeye souvenirs while my family and I were there. I was very happy about that.
And speaking of water rides that have stories to tell Reezy, among all the fanfics in my pitch binder (the imagination), this one has struck me like an electrical current to pitch a story that will leave you laughing with soaked pants. Here's what I had in mind:
Synopsis: It's the year 1999, and Popeye and friends (Olive Oyl, J. Wellington Wimpy, Alice the Goon, Poopdeck Pappy, Swee 'Pea, and even Bluto, Popeye's nemesis, in company with the rest of the group) alongside Marvel and Dr. Seuss properties, and the sweet Betty Boop herself, who are attending the grand opening of Universal's Island of Adventure. Upon arriving at the theme park, some of the villains from the Popeye and Marvel franchises plan on wreaking havoc on the park, to which each franchise must work together to defend the defenseless against a swarm of household villains. P.S. The characters of the aforementioned Popeye property, well, you, the fans, and I may cut them out if the cast goes overboard; being unnecessary to a story they don't belong/contribute much to the story. Now we have that cleared out, I'll give you updates on some ideas I've been brainstorming with for a while: 1. For the intro of the story, remember the intro for the Popeye Valentine special? Because looking back, I think there could be a way of sorts to have setting of IOA take the place of the backdrops found in the intro. 2. The fanfic will open with the properties aboard the Universal Studio trams, with Olive later realizing they forgot Popeye. Spider Man (aka Peter Parker) offers Olive his cellphone to call the baggie eyed sailor whom we fade to the interior of his cramped apartment curiously wondering why his alarm clock didn't go off (cause before the opening of the story, during the night, a thunderstorm resulted in nearly anything electronic shutting down or brinkin' in a flash) and where his girlfriend and child went off to, not to mention why there was a suitcase idling near the front door. Suddenly, the "RING RING RING" sound of the telephone jolts him awake and he runs to answer it. Once he answers the phone, the scene is then intercutted with Olive aboard the tram and Popeye in the living room. When Olive mentions the grand opening of Islands of Adventure, Popeye stops mid-sentence of coming up with an excuse for sleeping in and quickly turns his head to face the calendar from his behind (magnified on the refrigerator door) and views in shock at the words written in pen about what's about to occur on May 28th; accidentally hanging up on Olive as the dash takes right to show that the call has ended. She tosses Parker's cellphone aside and Peter uses his powers to catch it from nearly being left behind.
Ahhh, I have such fond memories of this ride! I'm happy to hear it's still there =D when I was younger, it was one of the first 'Thrill Rides' I ever rode. It was great and prepared me for the Jurassic Park ride and now they're my favorite rides at Islands of adventure. Another A+ video! May I suggest Fantasmic for a future video? Not a ride but easily the best and most interesting thing at MGM/Hollywood Studios!
This ride is so.much fun...I went on it three times when I was at the part 5 years ago because it was so muggy that day. We basically just walked on because it was September.
