If you notice that the director of Wearwolf In London , practically did his same final chaos as he did in " The Blues Brothers "? The only diff is in this one there were heads rolling , cars rolling over people etc😂

I like the fact that Garry looking as defeated, dejected and frustrated as he was tied to that couch, knowing the truth as best he understood it and was still subject to total distrust and suspicion, was what got the most reaction. It's an understated moment in the film and one of the last scenes that hits home the overall theme.

based on a story written in the late 1930`s ,Who Goes There?": The novella that formed the basis of "The Thing" is the John W. Campbell classic about an antarctic research camp that discovers and thaws the ancient, frozen body of a crash-landed alien. The creature revives with terrifying results, shape-shifting to assume the exact form of animal and man, alike.

One of my favorite British movies that made Kenneth Branagh famous to American audiences and re-popularized Shakespeare to the general public is 1989's "Henry V" starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh. Branagh's rousing performance of Shakespeare's "Crispin's Day speech" made the term "band of brothers" part of the common parlance with such a powerful association with themes of courage, fellowship and loyalty that it would become the evocative title of a great book and a great TV series adaptation which you have already watched.

It's very telling how younger viewers will immediately go to airborne infections when they see this. The influence of movies they're familiar with is obvious. But we never went there with horror back in the 80s. -- it was strictly the gore and some body horror.

For an 80s Vintage British horror film I would suggest Ken Russell's Lair Of The White Worm. Loosely based on a Bram Stoker (Dracula) novella, with a great cast, thrills, trippy visuals and a welcome dose of humor. A note about The Thing and reviews thereof: I wish I had a dollar for every review that began with pleading for the runaway dog. How quickly that tune always changes lol

In the 1930's John Campbell wrote a novella in which Antarctic researchers find a crashed spacecraft with a shape shifting alien monster called "Who Goes There." In the 1950's they did a movie with a completely different alien monster. "The Thing From Another World" is a good movie, it just isn't "Who Goes There". In this movie the Norwegian camp found the spacecraft and woke up the alien. The 2011(?) prequel movie's biggest flaw it that it looks at the emotional reactions of the characters when it should be focusing on how dangerous the alien is.

An older but excellent British movie called "The Hill" ( b/w 1965- not to be confused with the baseball movie) is the first movie that popped into my head. It stars Sean Connery. Once seen, it is never forgotten. 1966 "A Man For All Seasons" won an Academy Award. If you haven't seen it, "1917" was also excellent and is more recent. All good British films.

Welcome to the world of John Carpenter. From Sci-fi to action, horror, vampires, ghosts, zombies from Mars and on and on. What works for him is that his movies are B movies, and that's exactly what he wants. And it works. He has his hand in every aspect of his movies. He even composes the soundtracks. He likes working with Kurt Russell. They've made 5 movies together. One of those is Escape from New York. Really different from this movie.

There’s a theory that Childs is infected. At the end when MacReady hands him the bottle, it’s not whiskey. It’s a Molotov cocktail (gasoline), but the thing has no idea what whiskey tastes like, so he just chugs it. At that moment Mac looks at him and laughs, as he knows it’s an alien.

As some FYI, in John Carpenter's other main movie at the time, Halloween (1978), he showed a clip from the original 1951 version. In his 2018 Halloween update, he showed a clip from this movie. By the way, he composed nearly all the music in his movies. Halloween, Escape From New York, The Thing, and Christine, are notable themes that have been copied through the decades. Especially Halloween, EFNY, and Christine. So, if it is a John Carpenter movie, it is likely that he also composed the music, and also wrote or adapted the script for most of it. Halloween is new, as well as EFNY, The Thing was an adaptation of the original 1951 version (the title logo is virtually the same), and Christine is also an adaptation from the Stephen King novel.
