This was one of those movies that wasn't marketed well for theaters because people didn't know if it was a horror or comedy, but it gained a lot of love after it had come out on VHS.

Kevin Bacon thought this film was the end of his career. He thought he had hit rock bottom by doing "the worm movie." Instead, it took his career in entirely new directions and created high demand for his contributions.

The pole that Rhonda found was the lumber that was being used to build the fencing in the opening of the movie. The cliff that the monster fell off at the end of the movie was the one that he was going to the bathroom off in the opening of the movie.

Nice try but the fence they were building was wooden posts and barbed wire. The poles were metal and Rhonda was quite a drive from where they were building the fence

@@Dr.Acula76 The pole-vaulting poles were wood, and they were left over from another fencing project. It's common for ranchers and miners to pile unused materials in one location so they (or someone else) can come back to it if they need to at some point. The boulders make a nice landmark for such a collection point.

I’m glad you enjoyed the movie. It’s such a good balance of comedy and “horror”. I mean, being younger this made me TERRIFIED of walking on the bare earth. Perhaps you’d have fun with the next one, Tremors: Aftershocks. It’s just as good as the first in my opinion, or at the very least it’s as fun.

I love Tremors, it's one of my favourite films. The monsters are dangerous without being unstoppable, and there isn't just one cheap trick to defeating them. The people are pretty clever once they figure out the rules, and aside from Melvin they're likeable. The sequels are good too, and even the TV series is fun, even if it's a bit wackier than the films.

There were also Tremors TV series (2003) and other 5 more Tremors movies. There was also Tremors TV series reboot (2018), Syfy channel, but they cancelled the show.😢

@@EmmaReactions I forgot to mention in my comment that there was also a short lived TV series series based on the Tremors movies. It only lasted one season, but Michael Gross reprised his role as Burt Gummer. I also believe that Ariana Richardson also reprised her role as Mindy and the woman who played Mindy's mom also appeared in several episodes.

In a deleted scene we find out that Melvin has parents who are gambling in Vegas which is where they usually are. Melvin acts up because it's the only way he gets attention.
