To err is human....to err multiple times in 1 video is to be a RU-vidr.
The good people of Subscriberville corrected some of the oversights I made in my THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Spoiler Talk video, so I figured, why not make a video about it?

I don't know dude. Gore just lost his kid mid prayer, stumbled into the presence of the god he was praying to, had his prayers denied again in his face with laughter, got attacked by the god he was praying to, while the god-killing sword was right there reaching to him. As far as the "giving kids the power of Thor" thing goes, I was under the impression that Thor actually had the ability to enchant people or things like Odin did (at least since Odin's passing, maybe sooner) and didn't know up until the point where he finds out about Jane becoming Mighty Thor thanks to the enchantment he accidentally put on the hammer. That was an "aha" moment for him and why he wouldn't have used that power in the past--he literally didn't know he had it til then. At least that was my thinking. Not saying it's still not a bit contrived by any means 😅

The sword was definitely corrupting him mentally. We even hear it whisper to him "kill all the gods" in the first scene, and it's established by dialogue that the thing is designed to kill gods and has a will of it's own, and that the gods know all about it and it has a very long history. It took the anger Gorr already had and amplified it while seemingly informing him of Eternity as well. The Necrosword corrupted Gorr in the comics as well, though there the idea to kill all the gods was entirely his own and the sword just makes people into angry sociopaths. It works like the symbiotes from Spiderman (and actually IS the very first symbiote itself)

@@kwk111 It referenced the first Thor movie where Odin did a similar spell on Mjolnir, and Thor being the successor/son of Odin, he could do it as well. However, I agree that it should have been a bit better explained or clarified in the movie, though they did somewhat explain it earlier by showing how Thor gave Mjolnir the order/spell to protect Jane, ie. give her the powers of Thor if she needed them.

It was correct that the sword corrupted Gorr. The characters throughout the film talk about the legend of the sword, and it having sentience. (I guess it's also why they played-up the reconned sentience of Thor's hammer and Stormbreaker.) It even physically rises into his hand when he's held immovable by the throat at the beginning, and the sword was on the ground pretty far from him. And, the whole end-play with Thor and Jane was about BREAKING the sword, and stopping Gorr's power and corruption. Jeremy was right to begin with, and whoever didn't follow this point obviously was comatose during the coma-inducing movie.

I came away from this film feeling kinda down because of the cancer stuff. It was really weird that it hit me so hard, but it did. I think that affected my enjoyment of the movie but I had a lot of the same criticisms that you did as well. Seeing other people talk about it have relieved some of those concerns but I think I just need to watch it again. I don't think it will move the film much on my list, but there are a lot of fascinating things in this movie... I just really wish that Marvel focused more on story pacing than set pieces these days.

The movie got to the point where Thor enlisted kids to help him get to stormbreaker, and it flashed to me that they were effectively recreating the worst of the crusades, and didn't even realise it. To give them benefit of doubt, they probably didn't think it through; much of this film wasn't. They likely thought kids watching it would love to imagine fighting with lightning against monsters, but I can't imagine a hero in a movie trying to save kids putting them directly in the path of risk of death to do so, but it happened here. Makes it clear that the kids weren't really in any danger in the story, meaning that the creators themselves weren't serious about the story. Marvel movies are basically popcorn movies now, where you go in with your brain turned off.

I remembered the "first one gets the wish" rule because I knew at that point that Gorr was going to wish his kid back into existence. However, it wasn't clear to me that Thor's Share the Thunder spell was because he had Thunderbolt. It just felt convenient to me. How would Thor even know Thunderbolt could do that? I also saw the whole movie as Gorr was being corrupted by the Necrosword because he goes from a loving dad to an asshole terrorizing little kids. Between that and the sharp pointy teeth and scars, it felt to me that the Necrosword was like the Dark Hold corrupting him. In other words, a way to create a villain without character growth.

I agree. Odin enchanted the hammer and "he who is worthy shall possess the power of thor!" I'm pretty sure in that final battle he also throws the joke in there like "even if it's for a small period of time" you kids will have the power of thor. This does hurt Jeremy's argument of "why couldn't he do that in infinity war and end game" but I guess it wasn't part of the plot then? Lol I'm not sure but he could have and just didn't.

This is one of the reasons I’m not looking forward to the X-Men being rebooted into the MCU. Aside from all of the actors except for Ryan Reynolds being unfairly recast, the humor is going to be so forced in their movie. I don’t care what people say about the Fox X-Men movies. They got the tone right in most of their movies. There was no stupid joke to ruin the moment in any of them.
