Falling off a horse is a pretty common way for Septims to die. Guess they all can't ride their horse up a 90 degree angle like our favorite Dragonborn.
Fun Fact! In real life when anthropologists find a person with broken bones that they can't tell how died, they simply say "it fell of a horse" It became a meme in the academic community.
The third era contrasts the fourth so much. From a bastard son of an emperor sacrificing himself to save the world to an emperor, who supposedly wields goldbrand, that doesn’t even fight back when an assassin comes for him. The great houses of morrowind being so obscenely powerful and wealthy that they can disobey the empire’s laws without repercussion to house Hlaalu members living in slums with the other houses on the brink of collapse. The dark brotherhood being feared by the common populace to it crumbling into nothing more than a bandit gang led by someone who doesn’t even follow the five tenants. And the mages guild being disbanded to create the synod council which just hordes artifacts.
@pioz44 from what I remember they were disbanded shortly after the oblivion crisis due to distrust from civilians over their role in the daedric invasions
In the Dragonborn book it says that when everything goes to shit the last Dragonborn will appear and fix the shit. I think the Dragonborn will become the next emperor there's some hints to it in the game.
@@60sspider-man29 How would the writing team even handle that? The Dragonborn is INCREDIBLY flexible about who they are and where they are from. I guess a dragonbreak could justify it.
Knowledge ebbs and flows and the tides of time in this human story of a videogame shows alot. Before the mages guild was even banded and created, it was illegal to learn magic and in many places illegal to even learn how to read and write. Maybe Tamriel will be going into another era of wide spread Men and Mer slavery just like it did back in the earlier Era of widespread Ayelid rule where everyone including elves were kept as slaves for one single empire that spread the entire continent of Nirn. Now it will be the elves how rule, if the terrible Thalmor succeed in gaining power. But Talos alone can not save everyone from the High Elves, because they just want to make their own empire the same way Men made their own under Talos. It's more of the same, sort of.
Now did Martin actually get crowned emperor right before Dagon attacked? If so he’s gotta have like the shortest reign in the history of Tamriel, about 10 minutes. Also like the most successful emperor ever, he saved the entire continent from a deadric prince in about 10 minutes.
(Intelegently clicks dialogue options that imply you have no knowledge of the lore because you have no other choice, but it’s okay you can pretend you know your just making sure THEY know to)
@@pancake_the_pancake maybe she just likes Skyrim or maybe it’s the only game of the series she has, she doesn’t really need a reason to play just skyrim
D. R. Well then why don’t you make elder scrolls videos then? They make well versed and well researched videos so we can have the privilege of learning things we didn’t know before
It really shouldn't be. Imperial Knowledge and Lady of Elder Scrolls are far more accurate. The latter even posting sources for the claims in the vids. Fudgemuppet has a history of butchering lore amongst the lore community.
bryn bello If you’re new to the Tes franchise USEP is a solid source for understanding the games individuality but to understand the Lore as a whole use the imperial library or r/teslore if you only played Skyrim or Oblivion stick with I recommend ShottyCast for beginners. If you played more then two games I would watch Zaric Zhakaron lore series. If you really want to understand all the lore and I mean all play all the games and read all the books:
@@wolves600 that's a pretty interesting theory. I guess it would make sense if she knew and didn't say because she is a dunmer and well the nords aren't the most friendly to other races especially if she is from the bloodline of Nord legends
@@silan4543 it really does suck. I'm a mod for 3 streamers and they usually start at midnight, 3am and 5am for me (Australia EST) due to their time zines
I ended up looking for The Elder Scrolls 4 opening done by Sir Patrick Stewart and it still brings an awe-inspiring tear to my eye listening to him in one of my favorite game series.
Wait, does this means that Uriel's three legitimate children were in their 50s when they were killed by Mythic Dawn? They never got married and had kids of their own?
Know this is an older comment but I always assumed the Dawn killed Uriel's three sons and their whole families, so spouses, children, and possible great-grandchildren of Uriel VII. Ironically, if Martin hadn't been a priest then there could have been some spare heirs of the spare heir, so unless Martin's old Sanguine party days resulted in an ultra ultra hidden child then the only possible relations of the Septims left would probably be in High Rock, northern Hammerfell, or some very distant Nordic families.
@@bleachmaster1545 The last dragonborn is unlikely to be related to the Septims at all. Especially at the moment when the race of the Dragonborn isn't confirmed and probably won't be confirmed.
supernova582 yes , paralyze him. Then use telekinesis to carry him up a mountain , and chuck him off to watch his stiff body flip down the mountain. Only for the paralysis to wear off and all the damage hits him at once and he dies. Then sell his farm.
@@loganglessner4892 No they were not, that is a big mistake. The only places they were confirmed to control was Atmora, Skyrim, Akivir, and some of Morrowind. Oh, and they only ruled the land until the end of the Merethic era. They were never seen in the second era.
@@rylonharmon542 how do explain tiber septim have a meeting with some of the surviving dragons in the late second era? And it was confirmed that hammerfell and high rock had dragons during the events of skyrim too. If paarthurnax survived why couldnt more?
@@loganglessner4892 OK, but Talos isn't confirmed to have seen a dragon, and regardless the whole Elsweyr plot is the fact that dragons (plural) have returned. The dragons are never supposed to return until Skyrim takes place. End of story that is the plot of ES relating to dragons.
The crazy thing about this is that with all these times that the crown changes hands they all are able to light the dragon fires even if they aren't blood related to the Septim dynasty. Which means that they were all either already dragonborn or granted dragon blood by Akatosh. It makes me wonder if they had set up a line of succession beyond the royal family would Akatosh have accepted it and allowed the lighting of the dragon fires, averting the oblivion crisis?
I was thinking that too... the oblivion crisis makes no sense looking back. The emperor dies for two seconds and the oblivion gates open up everywhere, but emperors have died without heirs all the time before. That and... I really have to investigate St. Alessia's bloodline because it doesn't sound like it went very far
I've noticed that throughout the Elder Scrolls franchise, the dominating factions tend to be knocked down a peg every now and then, usually by some otherworldly influence, until the new faction begins dominating, and gets knocked down like their predecessor, almost as if the Aurbis is trying to maintain a balance of power. When men first came to Tamriel, the entire continent was ruled by mer (and dragons, I guess) and then through various events of supposed divine interference, they rose up and took most of Tamriel after having been dominated. For a while, I've thought that the recent downfall of the Empire following the Oblivion Crisis is the gods letting the elves take the reigns again for a while, in order to lecture men on their centuries of warmongering and petty infighting.
Me before watching this: Man I love the Elder Scrolls, all the Medieval without anything messed up like inbreed- *14 year girl marries 62 year old man* :O
@@ciaranmck4469 true but only because we were less than 1000 people 70000 years ago, which is why we are one of the most less genetically diverse species
Damn, those Septims and their falling from horses! Thank you so much for the videos, the lore of the Elder Scrolls is by the far the most interesting setting!
Honestly the dwemer are my favorite part of skyrim and I hope elder scrolls six will give us more data about them and maybe more assumptions of what happened after they struck the heart
@@viveka2994 the dwemer clans fought a lot an example is the Athereum wars , and they probably didn’t use the snow elves as slaves because they were pretty useless when blind, and if they needed slaves they could use the automatons, so the snow elves were likely used to test the effect of tones on elves
Love coming back to the old fudgemuppet videos. Ive recently been playing Snowrunner and ill put a fudgemuppet, camelworks, or drewmora playlist on get to work trucking for hours and hours
Hearing these videos as I relax late in the eve, or while playing my modded Skyrim SE, makes me want to dive in all of the Elder Scrolls lore. Just imagining how great my notes and homework would have been if Elder Scrolls history was being taught in high school by fudgemuppets. LOL, I would have known my career choice by the first couple of classes.
i am going to opt for honours in elder scrolls from fudgemuppet university. Now i even see the walls of ruined structures in skyrim with a sense of history. It gives me a feeling of being high elf.
Wow, awesome. Brilliantly put together synopsys of a great part of Elder Scrolls history. More intriguing and entertaining than my entire schooling of European monarch history. Thanks for putting this together. This depth of lore makes the Elder Scrolls a great franchise and one that will last for many more generations.
Love these videos, dude. You have wonderful writing, and your voice is nice to listen to. No joke after like 700 hours or so of Skyrim, I have a hard time playing. But I love listening to your channel so I can experience TES without playing as much as I used to. Thank you FudgeMuppet (+your team if you have one)
Slightly off topic but I want to say that if ES6 is in hammerfell or high rock then they should make quests about Orsicinium where you either side with the humans to destroy orscinium or side with the Orcs to rebuild or defend it. They should make something like the Hearthfire or base building like fallout 4, and you get to rebuild Orscinium. It will be great fun to be able to rebuild an entire city yourself!!!
@@redfallxenos4585 yes but the current one is just a small small strong hold. Where as this is the only place where we will be able to explore ancient orcish ruins. We will also have ancient alyied ruins, dirreni ruins and ancient medical ruins. Where as in hammerfell it's just dwemer and redguard
@@dutchpatriot17 A few nedic ruins in the north, (caraglorn) as the medical people in southern hammerfell where migratory Tribes. And there are no alyied ruins

Watching your videos made me play Skyrim again. For fun before I started back on Skyrim, I played through the whole series from Arena to Oblivion. TES has come a long way lol... although I DO think that the procedural generation in Daggerfall makes it one of the best and most unique RPGs out there (outdated graphics and controls notwithstanding). It's just so BIG. I literally could have been playing Daggerfall since it came out and still not run out of things to do... but anyway, I can't wait for your 4th Era video and I wonder if you guys have any more wacky awesome builds for us? I did a playthrough with your Necromancer build and I never thought that playing a mage could be so much fun. It gave me a chance to do all of the grotesque evil things that don't fit a lot of my playthroughs... my guy was eating corpses, murdering townsfolk, raising zombies and just generally being a scourge upon the land. What fun! I think my next playthrough will be an honorable warrior type. I'll have to peek through your builds to see what looks like fun... any suggestions?
While that is strange. Looking back at our own history, (in the real world, all over) In history, many countries would marry off their 13 and 14 year old daughters to old and/or elderly men in power.
I never realized that Skyrim is the only game (so far) that didn't take place in the 3rd era. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention, but i thought Tiber Septim founded the empire a lot earlier than he did. It's also crazy to me that there are dunmer alive who can remember the eruption of Vvardenfell while the nords right next door will have passed 6+ generations since that time
You never know. For all we know, the Scrolls, the Aedra and Daedra have influenced events on Akavir and Pyandonea just as they have on Tamriel. No one ever said the gods' interests in the affairs of mortals stops at Tamriel's shores...
Allen Spriggs Good point, since Molag Bal raped and created the first “pureblood” vampire. It’s possible the book was written in the Daedric language or some lost tongue.
Elder Scrolls 6 better be a HUUUUUGE map, like 5 times the size of Skyrim. I want Elder Scrolls 6 to be so big and content filled that it is 100% impossible to play the entire game on one character, even 10 characters. Shite better be MYSTERIOUS and fantastical, the first glimpse of what a virtual reality life will look like.
