Ajehy I imagine it was something similar to that. Seriously though, the mighty legions of a highly organized empire had to _struggle_ against a group of old men? Not very encouraging.
The_Drop Bear The Elder Scrolls are useless for combat, unless you plan to run in and whack somebody over the head with them, or open one in the middle of a crowd; a problem easily overcome by turning away or closing your eyes and carving the old fuck like a feast day turkey before he has time to call for help. Besides, How much influence could a group of hermits possibly have with smallfolk who, most likely, think that they’re all a group of old kooks? You are severely overestimating the Moth Priests.
I wonder if behesda will pick up fudge for their writing team. two 44 min episodes explaining an era, with information so packed it is insane. Fudge is a true TES scholar
@@paladinheadquarters7776 yeah i mentioned oxhorn because one guy was talking about 44 minute long vids and oxhorn does have shit ton of long vids about lore etc. He makes alot better lore vids so beteshda should pick him too
@@sirkole5517 Yep, 20 seconds of a Dragon Break, weather going ham, Daedra waltzing around doing whatever, all sorts of stuff, all just for 20 insane seconds, lmao!
Arent psijic an occupation exclusive instead of race exclusive group? You could only be a psijic member by being a good mage instead of being a mer. @@williamings773
The Prostitutes' Guild. I am genuinely surprised that isn't a mod. I'm just thinking about how it would function, considering how guilds in Morrowind and Oblivion worked, with ranks and everything.
Just imagine an Elder Scrolls/Total War crossover set during this time where one of the factions you can play is Tiber Septim trying to expand the Empire, or another faction opposing him
I unironically love ESO to death, despite some lore "mistakes". The team making ESO wasn't directly Bethesda, and checked with Bethesda on every piece of lore they decided to include and portray. The likely explanation is that the lore somehow got flubbed somewhere in translation between teams. ESO has contributed so much cool stuff to the TES universe and is a fantastic MMO to boot, I'm so glad we have it.
It's one of my favorite games. I'll be playing this for years to come. Only MMO I've actually dedicated myself to. Only lore mishap that gets me is the ebonheart pact and I understand why they needed to include it, they just could've made it make more since like a alliance out of necessity instead of just shoehorning some details. I can look past that. Besides I'm all AD aside from my nightblade.
I would argue that either the Reman dynasty or the reign of Tiber Septim was actually the “Golden Age” of the Elder Scrolls. Given, from Men’s perspective. The second era may have been better for the Elves as they had more independence, but it seems the Elves’ “golden age” is about to happen in ES6 with the Aldmeri Dominion having control of the Empire.
@@timetraveler5547 For real. Tiber Septum backstabbing his allies and runs through innocents in his conquest for power, but no one seems to care, as long as he "sounds" like a badass. He literally grabs the Numidium and annihilates the Summerset Isles and somehow the fanbase thinks it's wrong that the Elves are pissed?
I know this is super old but thank you for the hard work over the years! I'm rewatching this video as preparation for Elder Kings 2: A Crusader Kings 3 mod.
Hm...written record of the Dark Brotherhood surfaces in 358, and details an ongoing power struggle between the organization and the Morag Tong. 324 saw the Tsaesci Potentate assassinated seemingly at random after 300 years of rule and "Morag Tong" is painted on his chamber wall in blood, ensuring the Morag Tong are attributed with the killing....unless there is evidence to indicate that the Morag Tong sanctioned this act, I'd speculate the possibility that the Dark Brotherhood perpetrated the assassination and, in an attempt to direct animosity from the empire toward their competitors, direct blame upon the Tong....I like tinfoil.
I'm so in love with the lore of this series it's right up there with star wars and Naruto and all of the other mediums that I'm interested in... Long live the Elder Scrolls Series
I really hope that Bethesda watches your content guys, you three do such a fantastic job with your videos and I am confident you put smiles on the faces of not only the viewers of your content such as myself but even the developers as well. I really hope they are keeping track of your other series of videos regarding what we all wish to see in the next ES installment. I'm sure they will not following everything to the letter, but if they at least considered a few things you guys recommended, the next game will be a smash hit. Keep up your great work I'm am looking forward to the next video you make (Part 7???) fingers crossed
I have a solution for the whole Maxevian vs Anton 1 problem. I think "King" Maxevian was a rebel attempting to take the throne who had the loyalty of many who saw him as the true king of Daggerfal, including the knights of Watcher's Hold. My guess is that he is a brother to Anton I who had more military experience and saw his brother's lack of determination to exterminate all orcs as dangerous for Daggerfall, a sentiment shared by many others. Maxevian's hatred of the orsimer was shared by enough people in the court that there were those who were willing to act as spies for him and attempt to poison the true king, Anton. There is a second mention of Maxevian in the Letter to King Maxevian which was written in 458 by Captain Orrent Retene. That letter states that they have not recieved orders to return from Watcher's Hold for 24 years, suggesting that Maxevian had died before he could send those orders
As a long time player of ESO, i can say with absolute confidence vanus galerion is my least favorite person in the second era. Varen aquilarios is second on that list simply because of his early arrogance and later his withholding of his true identity.
The Ordained Receptacle? Sounds a lot like something out of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. LOL :) "Fetch me the Ordained Receptacle!" "Don't you mean the Holy Hand Grenade?" "No, damn you, if I had meant the Holy Hand Grenade I would have said the Holy Hand Grenade!" ROFLMAO!!!
I can't tell you how enjoyable these stories are especially hearing from Morrowind hearing familiar topics and I must say I'm glad I never joined the Morag tong but rather the dark brotherhood.
I would love for there to be a non-main-line game set in the reign of Versidue Shae or Savirien Chorak in Black Marsh with the Lilmothiit and Kothringi making appearances
I can’t even begin to understand how you did this. It’s remarkable. There’s just so much history here. You did a phenomenal job, and these videos just blow my mind. Keep them coming!
Thank you Scott & all FM guys, for making my dream come true. These era timelines really give me a better grasp of the entirety of Nirn, throughout time. It helps put together the political climate as a whole and what the different mer & men were dealing with in their own lands and in relation to each other. It also helps point out any seeming inconsistencies, which is helpful for not getting confused, laying it all out there. Very cohesive. I don’t need every little quest detail from ESO or any other TES game for a project like this. I find your historic overview quite informative with the relevant facts and people included. Much 💕and respect.
There's an easy solution to the Anton/ Maxevian dichotomy: *DRAGONBREAK!!* *"Dragonbreaks for everyone!!! Or cheese. Funny how I mix those two up. Must be due to how similar they both are... I wonder if you break open a dragon, if cheese comes out...? Well, off to Skyrim to find out! Ta-taa!!"*
I'm enjoying this series immensely and I'm grateful that you've taken the time and effort to put this complex history into this format. I love being able to replay and rewind as many times as I need to increase my understanding as I re-examine the various books in Skyrim and Solstheim. Thank you.
24:52 Queen "I ran" literally ditched her home to explore and sing drink and sleep with hammer fell warriors and nords that ALONE should have half the snobby high elves upset. For there not to be an uproar of some loyal citizens like where tf were you before your dad died, now that you get the crown you're back home. ADs queens essentially a spoiled sweet 16 mer you wanna talk about poorly written do a video on that logic LONG live the pact
Man, these series are great! I love learning abt the game lore but man it makes my head spin. Also makes creating and playing a lore correct character more challenging. So for my own clarity, in lore the events of ESO we play take place mid 2nd era and the lore w. Talos and the Imperial rise and domination are late 2nd era? Thank you so much for these videos!
Yo, just wanted to say I'm digging these videos and appreciate the effort you are going through on these ones in particular. Not many RU-vidrs delve into Elder Scrolls like this.
It is so cool how Bethesda created such a deep and story filled universe! You just don't see this type of depth in modern games (because they're all online/battle royale)
Eight provinces for eight races for eight races for eight main (major) divines. The ayleids (aylieds?) where obsessed with the number eight. Anyone got other good ones
A thought about King Maxevian seeming to rule Daggerfall at the same time as King Anton was still alive and well... What if Anton placed an advisor on the trone during a period of particular instability and violence around the royal court? It has precedents in IRL history, so perhaps Maxevian was a steward who took his position a bit too seriously when he had executive powers, and called himself a king in his documents. It would make the lack of any other mention of him more sensible too, with the possibility that Anton caught wind of Maxevian's growing lust for more and more power and had him removed, potentially from any documents he could find afterwards as well.
Shout out to my fellow ESO fans!!! The soulless one is also known as "the vestige," and the main plot in vanilla ESO revolves around your soul being taken, but you still being alive. If you've never played, definitely pick the game up on a free week and at least play the main quest line through. It's worth it!
Anyone else wonder where does the vampire Harkon fits in this era? 579 seems to be it, but after joining the Volkihar vampires, he mentions that in an "era lost to history" he was a powerful king, so when was he King and what was he king of or what region?
pppffff i played both oblivion and Skyrim bring it on first era video: ok I did not understand any of that second era video: ok something about the dark brotherhood. wow I had no idea how old they were and something about Tiber Septim. ok I don't know shit
I'm pretty sure how most of the things like king anton are explained is unreliable narrator aka just because you read it somewhere doesn't mean it's true
Have you ever thought about doing Warhammer 40k lore videos? I'm not sure if you are familiar with it, but it has a lot of mystery and in-depth lore. You do an amazing job covering Elder Scrolls and Fallout, I would love to see what you could do with the expansive Warhammer 40k universe.
Thank you for this but soon as you hit orsinium dlc (forward in eso timeline) I hit pause. Will return once I get around to all the DLCs :) thank you for all your videos tho man
I find the orsinium dlc to be kinda disappointing (might be because I despise traitors both in games and irl, I can't wait to make traitors in games not alive)
I think you messed something up: Necromancy was accepted in the mages guild until arch mage Traven banned it before the events of Oblivion Sorry for the "hate" you made an awsome video
I think necromancy was bought into the guild just before the 3rd era started and the people who practiced it were watched to ensure that they didn't go to "far" in their studies ie. Killing innocents and the like
I was surprised to hear that nocturnal wants to take over the crystal tower. She is very direct in her intention of taking the tower. I thought she is the most indirect daedric prince, only influencing nirn with her luck. Am i missing something here? Enlighten me oh loremasters
@@Justanobody8472 Ahh yes, because once a game comes out, no one new ever joins later and experiences it for the first time. Certainly not me when I wrote that comment, no sir. Sterling fuckin logic there, champ. Try again.
Great video man, love how you have the whole playlist of lore. Been watching bunches of your videos for years. Figured I’d throw some positivity your way✌️
@Fudgemuppet; really love the video! But I have an idea that might make it a bit better. What about showing us on the Tamriel map where the event you're talking about happened? I'd like to see that. It's okay if you don't though... I appreciate the video anyway!
Just found your videos and am getting into eso. I've dabbled a bit within tamriel with skyrim and oblivion and was always fascinated by the lore that seemed never ending and a bit overwhelming at times. These videos help to make a bit of sense of everything. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, they are informative as fuck!
