Hi there! Just found your channel and am very impressed. This is a very well presented video explaining in clear terms the expenses involved in cruising the Med. Looking forward to checking out your other videos :)
This comes across as a frank and interesting discussion dealing with mundane but essential matters for cruising live-aboards - thanks. One small point is that you address your points to each other quite a lot, which very natural when it’s just you two talking together, but the object of your Channel is to engage with the camera (i.e. us), so perhaps you may consider addressing the ‘camera’ more often (just as you would when talking with friends) to engage more effectively with your followers and to share your discussions. Your Channel is very well produced and I appreciate the amount of work that clearly you both put into it. Your choice of locations and photography has been fantastic. 2k subscribers is no mean achievement in one season, so thanks again and I wish you both well for next season, regards from EF.
Thank you for the input. That's a bit of our style, we have a conversation between us or a discussion on a subject. But I can see your point and we will try to address more to the camera, it makes sense. Thank you very much for following and for your feedback, we really appreciate. Cheers.
Awesome couple , awesome video , a good insight to those who are dreaming of the same , will be subscribing from now on , good luck and fair winds to you both .
Look forward to it. It is not just theoretical for me, I watch your channel because I've been trying to decide between buying a boat and cruising the med or the Caribbean. The Caribbean is close to home (Florida) and I can easily estimate boat costs here. I have less information on boat costs in the Med. I would be very interested, thanks! Brian
Very interesting listening. We are planning to do a similar trip . Fingers crossed retiring in the winter and then setting sail in the spring. We are actually live in the South of France already so will planning our trip from here. We are a bit nervous of starting off but after watching you it all seems possible. What do you find beneficial with a cat rather than a monohull, if you have time to answer that one as it could b3 very long. Look forward to the next video. Enjoy Gibralter Malcolm and Jeannette. PS we are about the same age as you guys.
Thank you guys. Well mostly is comfort and space, if you want to live aboard you need to feel that you have your basic needs. The sail it is not the best, it is a fatty girl to move on, but we absolutely love her. We will get to sail with some friends in the Caribbean on a monohull to get that feeling again. But always back to our Ocean Fox. Wish you all the best and hope to meet you somewhere. Cheers
Well presented - it would be interesting to know the insurance and maintenance amounts in order to get an idea of your overall spend as well if you are wiling to share. Keep up the good work!
Thanks guys. Very informative as we are planning a trip in 2022. Interested to know if Brexit has changed to costs... Subbed. Safe travels and may see you on the water :)
Looking more relaxed now, very interesting sharing what you have experienced. Keep up the good work. I heard you mention in passing getting 20G of data on a SIM. Very interested in phones, dat and Wi Fi in the Med when and if you get a spare moment. Coming over from Aus in 2020 to do similar so any info will be much appreciated. Happy travels and some downswing stable breeze cruising. Peter A
Thank you very much Peter. You can always buy SIM cards in every country in Europe and the good thing is that they work everywhere because of the roaming. I still have my normal allowance from the UK and I just keep buying more if runs out, but that is because of the roaming as well. Problems will start in the Caribbean I guess, will see. Cheers
Awesome and informative video! Very inspiring Would love to learn the ropes and gift myself with a year on boat. How long it took you to learn the sailing?
Hello travelers, I just found your RU-vid videos today and added your boat to my FindShip favorites. Today is 10/2/2018 and I have you near Gibraltar. I hope that is you. I am puzzled by the AIS picture detail as it shows a fishing vessel.
Great video on what your expenditures were for 6 months in the Med. Do you happen to know how many nautical miles you covered in that same time span...then break it down to $$$/nm...? Keep up the great job, I enjoy reading your daily blogs on fb and insta...!
Great video, thanks for doing this. You didnt mention it so far but do you have a fuel polishing system to transfer between tanks and clean/filter the fuel while moving from one to the other.
Not in this video but on the new one about the costs in the Caribbean.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gzKkaeG-dvY.html Have a look it is much more detailed. Cheers
Great vid thanks. We’ve done bareboat charter in Croatia, Turkey & Greece (Ionian). We plan to do 3 weeks next June/July but can’t decide between Sardinia/Corsica or Balearics. We like ‘easy’ sailing/motoring vs heaps of wind. Which do you recommend please?
Hi Chris, this time we only covered those costs. I am tracking all the others in the Caribbean for the next video about the costs. Probably by June we will have one of those released. Cheers
That is an interesting point, much less on diesel for sure. We are acting different now, we are waiting for the wind to take us and family and friends can't book until a week before, so we won't be under pressure to go somewhere. Thank you for following us. Cheers
So, I think your experiences of prices are about normal for the first months (maybe a little more diesel) but as you go on, with more knowledge, I think you will find your costs drop somewhat. This is not from my personal knowledge , just what I have watched on other channels, and I hope this helps :)
I wasn’t really expecting the crossing of the Corinth canal to be that expensive!! For future reference this is the price table link: aedik.gr/transit/fees/?lang=en I suppose that you are in category ST.
No I don't really, but we are meeting our Canadians friends this week and I will ask in one of the videos with them. Keep your eyes on it. Thank you for following us. Cheers
