Such a harsh life, in such a cold climate. Surely a little bit of technology wouldn't go amiss, just to make life a little more comfortable and bearable. Surely that's a desirable thing? Why remain so undeveloped on a material level?
Bardo thodol : time of death to live again. Thodol:a path of whise. Sambala:Moscouita (devine). Sakya:when the earth is grey. Tibet words from The Tibet book (author:Tubtent Jigme Norbu & Collin Turnbull). Penguin Book.
My grandpa taught me about the Tibetan book of the dead when I was little this is beyond birth and death in this recreation, if you want peace and happiness you have to let go of all fear and anger. 👍🏾
This is an interesting documentary. I've just started the second part, but I had to pause to make this comment. Am I the only one that found the saxophone music they used throughout, totally out of place? The human mind boggles me.
I think that Leonard Cohen chose the music for the documentary. It’s a very unlikely choice for sure because it sounds more at home on a 1980s movie or tv show.
i find this facsinating.. in so many things it reinforces a lot of the things i already knew and felt. i would love to know more on why we have these spirits in the first place.. are they a creation of our inner experiances of life - or were they something we had already.. this film suggests they were before.
It does seem a bit anthropomorphizing. But in general is it false message though? Every passage is ought to be internalized with intelligence ( inter-legere = reading between the lines ) for all words are symbols, so as every mental image is the projection of the mind.
1:08:30 This monk was straightforward. "Look at the mind. This is what the Buddha did and taught." But then .. the documentary goes on showing people indulging on the ideas of after life. Perhaps this works as a test for oneself to face subconscious fears, I don't know. Pondering on death daily is powerful, but why exclude it from one's daily living? To live with death would surely turn the most mundane situations into something to be experienced head-on. That again, is the same thing as: "Look at the mind".
