8:46 that is a meme from the channel. OS made a vid on a certain austrian gentleman and basically, his father beat him. So now "this enranged him, who punished him severly" is a bit of a meme.
4:02 that is the point. Seeing as they cannot found a family, the only way to immortalize themselves is to hoard as much power as possible. After all, if there is no possibility for you to loose your family, what stops you from bending every law to your will? Without a family, the only allegiance was to themselves.
We all blamed early Dynasty Warrior games for making us mispronounce Cao Cao's name as "Cow Cow". They eventually fixed it in later games, but by then the damage was already done.
Eunuchs were males who had their testicles removed. This was considered desirable by the courts for several reasons- 1. Eunuchs had little/no sexual desire, meaning that they wouldn't attempt to boink your wife or daughter. 2. Eunuchs having no sexual desire also meant they were considered more holy than the average person. 3. Eunuchs also couldn't have children, meaning that they couldn't attempt to start their own dynasty. These reasons meant that Eunuchs were very desirable as servants, religious leaders, and advisors. Also, people receiving this surgery wasn't just a Chinese thing, it was practiced from Rome to India, from Greece to Vietnam. Eunuchs were even mentioned in the Bible. Chinese Eunuchs were fairly unique because they had their testicles AND their penis removed.
Eunuchs where castrated because the Emperor had something called the mendate of heaven, meaning only he and his family where allowed to rule. As such, if anybody impregnated his wives, the mendate would be lost and the kingdom would fall to ruin, so this was the only way to make sure all the children in the palace where his.
I will explain how Lu Bu was piece of shit with one quote of one of Liu Bei's "Sworn Brother" Zhang Fei (you might remember him in Dynasty Warriors on the green team, short and fat guy, fighting with a type of lance that had blades in each end): "Face me, o' Bastard of Three Fathers" Lu Bu killed blood related dad, his adopted dad, when he sees Dhong Zhou taking powerof the empire in that night at the Capital, and was called "son" by Dhong Zhou as well, so Fat Man dying was almost like poetry, it rhymes. Also unfortunately the reason behind the motive of Lu Bu to kill his 3rd father is a myth, Diaochan isn't real ._. he might had a brain blast like "wait, I'm the strongest man alive, I can take this empire into my hands" or someone told him that, but that's speculation by my part. keep in mind, the Three Kingdoms era begins around 180ac, and the so called "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" was published around the 16 century, so a lot of things we know of Three Kingdoms era might be lost to time. Also if you want to see some fun with this era, since you like dynasty warriors, I recommend you either play or watch the story mode of Dynasty Warriors 7, they have 4 campaigns, 3 focusing on each kingdom and 1 focusing on the Jin dynasty, is pretty fun and puts all the guys more in a grey area ('cause the novel favors Liu Bei a lot).
If youre interested in other history channels, Historia Civilis has some great videos, esspecially his series on Julius Caesar. Though his one offs are great too, such as the constitution of the spartans. It doesnt deal with specific events or battles, but how their society was run. Which is interesting to me personally, but idk how others feel about it. He has a more minimalist animation style, but it works surprisingly well
Im surprised they didn't made a television show about three kingdoms like game of thrones. But then i realize its from china and nothing bad happens in china. Please put the gun down winnie
There have actually been several series based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms in the past, with varying degrees of quality. They've just not been released in the Western world.
