Great mountain lion story dude! I have retired back to North Florida where I saw 3 including kittens. Also saw one in the mts above Las Vegas and 50 years ago in Western PA where they don’t exist!

Being from Northern Minnesota backwoods, I've only seen a cougar once, and that was from quite a distance. I have been nose to nose with an erect black bear once. There was a picture window between us, though. He was raiding the bird feeder. I've also had a moose charge across just a few feet from my motorhome as I was leaving a campground. You're young yet, plenty more opportunities for furry close encounters yet.

Wildlife encounters in the woods are always interesting, some more than others like you crossing paths with a Mountain Lion. Enjoyed hearing your experience which fortunately had a good outcome and yes, definitely interested in more videos of your life events. PS as unlikely as it may seem, Mountain Lions are about, have had them on and off for several years on a leased property. A closer inspection of the area where you encountered this cat would probably reveal definitive signs of this stealthful creature such as paw impressions left in wet areas.

No skinny little dude, with obvious body Armour and a huge firearm in full view was attacked by 3 separate individuals. Some quite small armed only with skateboards. So. Ironic as it seems, he was a magnate for attack.
Interesting story. I think the mountain lion turned away once it determined you were not a threat. If you had ventured any closer to it, the situation may have been more frightening.

That’s a super cool but sketchy encounter lol. I grew up in SE OK, but hunted in W TX. We saw them often out west, and heard about them in OK/AR quite a bit. Not surprised you ran into one, but being that close is dicey!
Good story Dalton, I've met a couple big black bear in the woods on my Gramps farm, the staredown can be pretty intense. Your wall looks great, you should be proud of it being your first attempt at building one. By the way, I call mine my "equalizer", think that sums it up.
1) Yes, want more stories. 2) Yes, be cautious with language on YT. 3) Yes, that was a mountain lion. 4) When I was very young, my dad went turkey hunting in Talladega National Forest (Alabama). He said he squatted down in some brush and began to scratch around on his turkey caller. That went on for a while. He finally gave up. He put the butt of a long tool on the ground and used it to help himself stand up. Just as he was almost standing straight up, he was looking directly into a mountain lion's eyes. It was several yards away. I can't remember the distance. The lion let out a big blow and bolted away. My dad said he didn't know who was more afraid, him or the mountain lion. They were both surprised. That mountain lion was about to have a nice turkey dinner. 5) My family member has a photo of a mountain lion here on our property. I think fish and game claim we don't have them. I call bs on that. I saw one in our county many years ago. 6) I used to walk all over our property (40 acres) at all hours of the day and night. I started noticing when I would walk up our long dirt driveway with woods on one side that something would walk when I walked and stop when I stopped. It spooked me. My neighbor told me the exact same story (even though I had never told her that), and she told me they saw one. Needless to say, I don't do much walking around here anymore, especially at night. Good story. I'm in ohio, my brother is about to buy a big spread in the mountains of PA and this video gives me an idea what I might find there. Probably the biggest asset in taking a charging cougar is speed on your part, Other than that I wouldnt think youd need to biggest cannon in the world. A 9mm with a fmj, shotgun with a slug, I'd even bet ya could stop a cougar with a couple shots to the dome with a 22 rifle. I say because on another video a fairly large black bear that was trapped was dispatched with a well placed head shot from a 22 pistol. Little bullet killed it grave yard dead on the spot.

10mm carry for bears, otherwise I go with a snub nose 5 shot s and w revolver .357. 38+p hollow points. It's lightweight and easy to conceal. 10mm is a bit heavy, but I keep it "around" when I have the snubby.

I"m not sure which animal--mountain lion or black bear--I'd be more fearful to meet. The lion would need to really need food badly and would have to decide if it could take you. The bears I think are more people shy and making noise as you go would cause them to move away. But mountain lions in California have on occasion attacked joggers.
My farm is in a cougar's territory. She has never confronted me, but her tracks, occasional screams, and the Livestock Guardian Dogs let me know on a regular basis that she is out there. I do not have a gun, so I never walk the back 40 without the LGDs.
Interesting story with drama, glad you weren't attacked. You should get a dash cam for your bike. I live in Marion County, Alabama and the authorities say there's no cougar or mountain lions around here but there's been numerous sightings. My husband has seen one that he said was a cougar.
as everyone sayin mountain lion, some them babies get huge, they're basically just a whole ass lion. they had one caught on camera near me and it was bigger than any of the zoo ones I've seen. Funny enough, there was a lady that played Metallica out loud on her phone to scare one away that was stalking her

Men are watching you and men usually want get to the bottom line and will get impatient if it seem to be taking to long to get there. So up your cadence and don’t repeat info that doesn’t add to or advance the story. Yes repetition is a tool, but like a hammer it can hurt your thumb.
I think the issue with what you talk about on RU-vid isn't so much related to the actual community guidelines, but rather what can happen to a video's views and watch time if RU-vid THINKS they know what the content is about and show it to fewer people or a narrower audience.
Several years ago in our woods I found a cat print about 4 inches across in the mud of the bed of an intermittent stream. The DNR confirmed that it was a cat print but without something for scale in the photo that I took they did not consider it an official sighting of a mountain lion print. There have been official sightings one county away from us so I do not doubt that is what it was. I carry bear mace now but I'm not sure that would be enough.
