Prince did these guys BAD. To think, after Jimmy & Terry were fired by Prince, they went on to win a Grammy for Producers Of The Year. This is after Prince declares Jam & Lewis were not going to do anything else and would never be heard from again. HA! The Time's BIGGEST Record "Pandemonium" Was Produced mainly by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis & Jesse Johnson! Glad WB insisted! Good Call! Prince hated Rap but couldn't fight it and ended up actually using it. HA! Geniuses can be "Haters" too! LOL!
The Pandomonium album was half produced by prince actually and the sequeways were written by him. Prince finished the album Corporate World in 1989 which he did entirely with Morris and submitted it to Warner brothers. As you noted, Warner Brothers, probably due to the success of Janet Jackson, wanted Time members' input on the next album. So, Prince and the Time chose three songs from Corporate World and added nothing to them and Prince wrote and played the instruments on Jerkout and then the Time later added additional parts to it. He is also on Pandemonium (in the rap part which apparently he wrote) and he wrote, performed, and produced Chocolate as well. Four songs from Corporate World appeared on the Graffiti Bridge soundtrack... (and he did almost everything on those as well) The tracklist for Corporate World was the following: Corporate World (by Ricky Freeze), Murph Dog, Nine Lives, Donald trump (black version), Love Machine, Data Bank, Shake, The Latest Fashion, Release it, and My Summertime Thang. Prince had no input on Blondie, skillet, Its your world, sometimes i get lonely, and Pretty Little women.

i love The Time. This was a amazing band, but Prince wrote all their hits and provided a platform for their CAREER. Unfortunately they couldn't match the tunes Prince wrote. It would have been nice to have seen them all resolve their issues and continue their success together.

And yes they were with Prince at the time because they were in the movie again and got back together to do yet another Album that was predominately written by him. A better question would've been WHY in the world would they do that again. Especially Jam and Lewis because they were HUGE by then with Janet's Control and Rhythm Nation in their back pocket.

It was all business after they started touring as the Time and The Revolution. There's an interview with Jimmy Jam floating around on the net that Jam thinks that the reason Prince didn't want them to use the name is because there are no songs on it by him and he feels that since he "birthed" the Time idea, he can also kill it.
