I saw Andre Cymone in Concert in 1984 at the Bonham Exchange in San Antonio! This man and his band were Amazing! His sister Linda Rennae was on keyboards and she is so pretty in person!
He was stunning and so tall. I really think if he kept the MN sound he helped to create he would have been great. I think he tried to do New wave and it failed only because America did not want a black guy that looked like him to do New Wave he was supposed to do R and B soul or Rap. Great guy all around.
I remember this interview this was the interview that i learned Andre was doing a solo career & i got to hear for the 1st time Dance Electric went to the store & got the 12" still have it. Along with the lp. Also have the 12" to Living in the new wave.
Wow this is super rare! This was back when Video Soul was in a black background (with a scipture fonts that says Video Soul) which was used from 1983 to about 1986. I wanna see more episodes of Video Soul from 1983-84 plus the interviews (New Edition and Gap Band interviews are the most sought after).
Andre was nothing like Prince. Andre was humble, cordial and very professional whenever he did interviews. Prince is alright, but at times he's arrogant. I'll always support Andre in his endeavors. Fine as hell!!!
well Andre didn't have the success as Prince and all eyes on him. So if he appeared arrogant it was because he was tired of old questions for just any moderator. Andre was more arrogant and not so flexible thats why he didn't become more known for his brilliant musinship. But two each is own. Rest Well Prince.
@emanboogie no prince and andre are not cousins. both prince and andres dad use to play in a jazz band 2gether along with princes mom, mattie. prince lived with andre after he was kicked out of his home so basically they were family in that way . :)
That’s not true. Also Wendy and Lisa didn’t leave. They were fired by Prince. I’ve seen interviews with Andre where he was asked about do me baby and he said he didn’t write it. He did say that during rehearsals Prince would often hear something played and use it and turn it into a song. But that’s not the same as writing it . He said he left because it was time to do his own thing.
@@verahoward9422 stop lying to yourself. If Andre was as talented as prince he would be as successful as prince. Since prince death they are using his music to help just start their careers again.
Andre and Jody Watley had a secret relationship for years before they eventually got married in early '90s and had a child. I don't know why he chose to keep it a secret. BTW..his production for Jody's albums are fantastic!!

not true prince took great care of Ms Anderson, Andres mom, he never forgot where he came from, Prince was real in that way as we know he really never left Minnesota he made that his permanent home.
Kathryn Hall Prince and andre were brothers. Listen to the newest Lisa coleman interview. She admitted it. These people we see on TV are not always honest about there past.

I read that Prince stole "Do me Baby" from Andre... and that Andre went to Prince's manager and told them that he stole it and they said "Can you prove it?"... and Andre said no. Then Prince's manager looked at him and said... "That's the music business... kid". Andre and Prince used to live together... so the notion of Prince stealing songs or idea's from Andre is not that far fetched.

Prince and Andre are cousins. They were raised as brothers by Andre's mum who would allow them to rehearse in the basement, where Andre formed the first group called Grand Central, with morris Day. They both had musicians as fathers. Andre's dad had played bass in Prince's Dad's band, The Prince Rogers Trio, and Andre would later played bass in Prince's band. Andre left in 1982 and was replaced by Brown Mark, when the band started rehearsing for a movie and became known as The Revolution
I have so much respect for Andre! I mean, how fortunate he was. He lived with Prince, in Prince's early beginning. Can you imagine that? Those two we're like brothers, learning and feeding off each other. How nice that must have been. Andre had a nice thing going on. However, we all know what happened to Prince. Prince became my favorite artist of all time. The G. O. A. T. Damn, I miss him so! Peace.

buttascotchbro1, so what if AC is not as big dude, every human creature had his own little thang going...he left Prince bcos he wanted to do on his own dfferent way they were both talented do song writings, play intruments, jammin, funny & too hot during those times...He's not as big but AC did inspired Prince, or must say they both inspired each others style...They grew up together during their teens life absolutely they exchanging common ideas there's nothing more to hang out with but being with Best of friends hehe.
Can't imagine what would make a grown man wear a skirt . I've found photo of prince in a skirt and dress as well.prince said andre was his best friends.grown men wearing dresses or skirts.are they trying to pull men by doing this.its crazy.

@cllamont He has'nt hit Rock Bottom. I know times are hard, but you did'nt see no Andre Cymone at no Taco Bell (lol). He was paid for his multiple songwriting and he should still have money unless he got ripped off.
