Carlos Hurd, a reporter for the St. Louis Post Dispatch was on his way to a well-deserved Mediterranean vacation. Four days into the voyage Carlos woke to find his ship rescuing Titanic’s passengers. Enlisting the help of his wife Katherine, he got to work documenting the dramatic stories of the sinking and using the accounts to piece together what happened that night. This episode tells the story of Carpathia’s rescue mission, the journalist who worked to get the story to the world, and contains a reading of part of his dramatic story of the sinking which first appeared in The New York World on April 19, 1912.
