If you aint cheating, you aint trying right. In this video I decided to give shoutouts to those who live in infamy and shame. Bandit Keith would be proud.
It's not a bad thing if card become to overpowered as the game goes on then they have to be banned or they just become boring matches, also if people kept using the same deck year after year then they would just have to find one that works and that would be it. Then the tournaments would did out
***** I totally agree. I only have one deck I could enter in a tournament, the rest of mine have banned cards in them, and, consequently, they are my strongest decks. They make a big show of "balance" and "fairness" when the real fun of the game should be making a deck to work around those powerful cards.
Also only a total dumbass who has never played the game before thinks that only cards with alot of stars are the strongest and not the effects, you know like the ones that get banned
+Chris Stark No, #1 would be Yuma. He literally has three to four transformations that allow him to draw new cards out of nowhere. His second good transformation even allows him to change a card into a new one.
>No Kaiba >Kaiba normal summons a Blue Eyes White Dragon 3 times in the same duel. >Kaiba attacks through Swords of Revealing Light. Judge is literally watching, with the duel system likely flashing from cheating errors, no ban.
At that point summoning 3 monsters without sacrifice was normal because monsters like those were rare. Then when they went to duelist kingdom the rules changed and he couldn't summon monsters without sacrifice.
Forget Yu-Gi-Oh, punching someone in the face is screwing the rules IRL. It's called assault, and it carries a prison term. His ass should be in jail, but it's not. Hence, he "cheated" his way out of prison. -.-"
***** Police would look at wether it was justified. It clearly wasn't, but he wouldn't get jailed. Most likely just a fine, pay for hospital bills if any, and possibly community service.
I feel bad for the guy who got his deck stolen. At Nat's 2011, I was playing gladiator beasts I had just won my ninth round improving to 7-2 securing my spot for day 2. My opponent asked if I had a pen for the match. I looked away for a second digging through my bag looking for a pen. When I looked up he was gone and so was my deck. My deck wasn't very valuable, so I figured I could probably replace it through trading the next day. However I couldn't remember exactly every card in my deck. I explained to the judge the next day I couldn't play because my deck was stolen and I was unable to remember exactly what I needed. I was dropped from the tournament like I knew I would. I was tempted to cheat and borrow a friends deck for an opportunity to play in day 2 at Nat's is rare, and just the chance to play and continue was almost worth getting banned. I didn't though, point is that guy got screwed over and he shouldnt have been banned for 2 years. He should have gotten a lighter punishment. As for that lance guy, the guy throwing dice should have gotten banned too for starting the fight and interfering with a match
Jae Kim was a pretty good player and ambassador, I agree that the situation really sucks but he should have just gone to the head judge about it. When you are a noteworthy player, people will be watching you and you can't get away with swapping decks. I don't think the punishment is really appropriate for the offense but I don't really know what he expected to happen.
DrewskiTheLegend personally i think it's kind of dumb they don't let you swap decks during tournies... i mean just have the judges check every deck everyday right before it starts and make sure there aren't any cheating decks or banned cards in the deck. Why do i have use the same deck every duel? i don't see other games like League of Legends forcing you to use the same champion every match
***** not during play though; i mean like if it takes multiple days; you should be allowed to change decks through out the course of the week; new deck every day also side decking is really since you play more than one duel; it's best 2/3 as for more money; more advantage; more money; already more advantage; pretty expensive to get black luster soldier envoy; also for a full set of judgement dragon...
+Havok Sosa to be honest what advantage does that even give? She could really only identify the cards from her hand. In real life there is no possible way to distinguish 40 different perfumes when the cards are that close together.
Andres Ortega considering your suppose to fill out a form on your deck and basically traded decks with a friend. it still against the rules other wise anyone can claim deck stolen to plsy an entirely new deck.
I've seen fighting at locals and a regional too. And card tearing. I'm friends with the guy who organises the locals in my town. He calls it "babysitting duty" and has been on the verge of cancelling it before because of behaviour. There's a lot of problems with people's attitudes in this game.
Grown men playing a children's card game is the set up...cheating at the game is probably somewhere in the build up to the punch line. I'll look somewhere and return with the information.
Justin Nelson just becuase my oppement forgott to sack my deck also a old player placed 3 acentgear town feild spell cards in the spell/trap zone (about 3years ago)
How the fuck can you even do that? I think someone would clearly see you grabbing your opponent's deck, whipping out your portable sharpie/tape/whatever, mark the sleeves, and put it back down. Either he IS a ninja or everyone there was fucking blind because that's shit that NO ONE should've missed.
He would pick up his opponents grave and use his fingernail to put a small indentation on the back of the card. Since his opponent was playing spellbook, he would mark the cards fate, tower, power, eternity, and so on. When he shuffled, he would put the cards with the mark on top of his opponent's deck, thereby stacking his opponent. His opponent noticed it after when he saw that the back of the cards that made up his opening had all had a weird Lil mark
vgmaster02 You can "mark" cards with fingernail indentations or bending them in a certain manner. It's a well know card trick with games like Poker or Blackjack, so much so, casinos go as far as opening a brand new pack with every game just to prevent it. I would imagine in this case, players would do so on shuffles since that's the only time an opponent has your cards, and since you can't bring out a 2nd unmarked deck, you have to ride with the imperfections unbeknownst to you.
you left out my dad from this list he cheated on my mom on then he cheated on the girl he was having an affair with AND THEEEN he took out a piece of exodia from my deck when i was playing it at a regional
+etherraichu money fame ect i stopped playing yugioh myself tho cause it became too expensive to keep up and id get decks stolen from me left and right so not worth my time not unless i win the lottery
+nightshadow989 well thats why i rarely bring more than my deck to places, and i'd keep a close watch, no one touches my stuff while playing. i feel your pain for the lost decks. sry to hear that.
omg i haven't heard the phrase "if you aren't cheating, you aren't trying" since highschool. My wrestling coach taught us a bunch of crazy moves that aren't really "against the rules" but if you're losing they help a lot. One of them was called the dirty russian and it basically went like this. If your opponent has their hands wraped around you while standing up, you drop to the ground an they get a penalty because you can't have your hands locked when you have your opponent on the ground. I won 2 meats using that trick rofl
Doesn’t seem right that you get your deck stolen when you are a game away from the top and it’s either DQ yourself or get Banned and lose all you played for. Just a crappy situation all around on that one.
> Calls YGO a children's card game. ... Bruh, you honestly think kids can play this complicated shit? Every child player I ever dueled against either has no idea what the hell they're doing, or just runs shit they saw in the anime with none of the right support.
YuGiOh drama is the funniest. MTG is just cringe. Pokemon tends to not have drama. Hearth stone is just desperation. That's how you got here. Maybe. Or you took a left turn at dragon ball like the last guy said.
What if someone just showed up actually dressed as Bandit Keith and hid 7 Completed cards in their wrist band as they dueled? I mean would that person be a real cheater or just a very serious cosplayer?
I think all major tournament's should be played with a video game. Imagine seeing the monsters appear and attack. All decks could would be reconstructed digitally, and there would be no way to cheat. NO cheating, and seeing the action on tv with cgi monsters... sounds like a win win. heck with the invention of AR coming soon, maybe one day they could make an actual dual disk.
No this wouldn't be suitable for the game style. As a yu gi oh player who.goes to.locals and regional tournaments the physical copy of a card is what makes the game. If its vortualni could just stay at home do some emails and log in ar home to play in new york whilst in the u.k. it sounds ridiculous as per yu gi oh game nationals.
Yugioh takes skill? LMAO! For an example; Nekroz is the top deck right now and it's hard to beat, skill is beating that deck with a lesser tier deck. Deck's runs themselves in today's Yugioh, it's all about luck and getting the right card.
DJAizakku :0 actually in the anime you could still activate spells on your opponents turn for a while which is why during yami yugi vs seto kaiba at battle city he was worried about the equip spell set.
+Ryan Amberger Well, if cheating technically is going against the rules and it is a rule from Konami to not play YuGiOh for money exept in an official tournament...... Yes, not the "classic" cheating, but if it is cheating depends on you definiton i would say.
I do not play the Yugioh card game, but gambling is a PRIVATE activity, and (to the best of my knowledge) is not illegal anywhere in the world. Anyone can bet ANYTHING they own on literally ANYTHING they want. If the other guy accepts it is no one else's business, except maybe a mutually agreed upon third party that ensures that the bet is honored. Just because a company made a thing does not give them the RIGHT to forbid gambling upon it, or to punish someone who does so.
To become famous for winning tournaments and be respected and fame for. That's why people cheat. To get close to a goal that someone doesn't work hard for it
This video was a walk down memory lane for me - I loved it. Well done. Just a great summary - Do you have a hall of fame video up? This is a great chronology video and you obviously have a great memory of events. Just enjoyed the hell out of this.
I honestly don't even play Yugioh right now but I don't think calling it a children's card game is right, it's the most complicated card game I've seen around, hell MTG has less complicated marketing mechanics than this game is to play
It's a joke from Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series. LittleKuriboh constantly makes the joke about how the characters settle all their disputes by playing "a children's card game."
Emon was banned for stacking crush *and* Sangan. Lost to him at SJC Houston. Would have gotten top 8 with rescue cat OTK, if not for him. Sad kids, couldn’t win with skill and matchup experience. Hoban, Corn, and Nzir (or howerver you spell it) were not good players, they misplayed regularly.
or, you know, trade them a card, watch them put it in their deck box, then get them DQ'd for having extra cards in their deck box. Totally not cheating because I believe you are allowed to trade cards at those events in your waiting time in-between rounds. Sure it may be seen as a dirty tactic, but it's technically not your fault your opponent put the card in their deck box, therefore giving them more cards than they should have. XD
With all your knowledge of older players and formats could you possibly make videos discussing the pros of the past and their accomplishments as well as possibly talking about people who have earned "life time achievement awards" maybe jeff johnes, winning SJC and YCS events idk just a thought
Jeff Jones real claim of fame is that he's a really good deck builder. He found a way to optimize in his own way Burning Abyss pre NECH with not just monarch tech but main decking mind crush since wing blast/raiza can put back main deck cards to the top of the deck for top decking purposes. As well as his Denko Doll interpretation and his reasoning behind it. I'd give Korey McDuffie props as well since every time I hear him break down his deck, he leaves absolutely no corner unturned for his motivations and reasons as to why he played the cards he did. Probably comes out of habit from playing MTG as well.
Robert Douglas Almost forgot about Jeff Jones plants synchro variant. As for the Psychic Deck, Jeff himself admits its jank as hell and the only reason why he won was because of certain technicalities of cards he used like Crystal Chrononaut that _favored_ him. He never used it again to top another event and no one was able to replicate the success of it in part due to its heavy inconsistency in part of Grandsoil itself.
Tyler Tabman cheated in his Top 4 match at NA Worlds against Prowinston. He clearly realised he was out of life points by his body language but because Prowinston didn't notice they carried on playing and he eventually won the next turn.
When I was watching this year's WCQ, a number of people in chat mentioned that Sehabi, last year's World Championship winner, was banned. Would anyone know if that's true or not, and if it is then what did he do?
Check it: Jae Kim was recently featured at the feature table in ESPN's broadcast of the World Series of Poker Main Event 2015. Episodes air every Tuesday.
I kinda wish you had gone into more detail about the exact situations that lead to the bans. Some of them were self explanatory, i.e. bribery, using a different deck. But others where you just said cheating or marked cards, it would be important for people to know how exactly they cheated so people can be more vigilant in the future.
Amazing video, only complaint is make the videos longer. I totally feel like you could squeeze a few extra minutes to the video and I’ll still watch. There’s so much content here, make it go the mile.
Question if your decks stolen couldn't you report to the judges and alert them of it. Where they could help you look for it and see if it's not found if you could use a different legally checked deck so everything is good. Is that allowed?
I remember my first tournament. Had like 70 cards in my deck, got stomped because I couldn't draw anything useful and learned why I had to keep my deck small :3 Won one of those sealed pack tourneys for the Flaming Eternity release, though that's nothing impressive (free boosters though!).
This might be a dumb question, so dont get too salty, but How in the name of the pharaoh do you mark card sleeves to where someone can tell without ruining them?
Seems like a waste, especially if all it'd do is get you banned. I think Yami and Yugi would be ashamed. By the way, Is it just me, or does Cheater #2 look EXACTLY like Bandit Kieth but without the shades and the Bandanna?
While siding, you both keep the card you agree to side out face up on the table. This practice was really common in bablyless dragon mirrors, as both players would agree to side out Sixth Sense and RFTDD. The issue is with the Djinn side out is Pat had a 2nd copy of it in his side deck, so while it was face up on the board in between games he could take his 2nd copy and put it in. This wasn't an issue during dragon mirrors because both Sixth Sense and RFTDD were both at 1 so there couldn't legally be a spare copy in the side.
When you call Roy chunky ass I laughed so hard. This guy that makes the video it’s really funny and cool and does a great job researching all of this information. I played a little competitive when I was young but I was awful and it makes me feel like I was a part of something really cool that I actually wasn’t lol
I'm still a newbie but I need more time that I have to train and someday become a pro plus I have long road ahead of me when first did my first yugioh tournament I lost many times but I never give up I kept trying until my last card was played..
What about Peter Cheng? winner of YCS Washington D.C. . . . if I'm not mistaken he played Machina Gadgets with Jinzo OTK, and I've heard he sneakily added in Future Fusion to his hand with his gadget.
I like how you pronounced San Mateo, and Adam Corn did not cheat at YCS San Mateo, I saw the situation go down, his cards were clearly unmarked, the judges took the deck and preformed the deck check for about 20 minutes in a back room, comming back and disqualifying him, he was clearly targeted.
I got banned from nationals because my opponent marked my card while I wasn't looking and his friends backed him up I was on a winning streak as well aT.T I think he was scared off my burn deck
I used to play some minor tournaments for Yu-Gi-Oh at a shop. There was one Sunday where a little kid (probably 10-12 years old) Who got ejected permanently from the tournaments when he someone on his initial shuffle and first draw managed to draw all 5 pieces of exodia.
You made it sound like Patrick put the card back into his deck after agreeing to side it out. He didn't put it back into his deck. He would place it face up on the table. Then he put the other one in.
elitebelt You obviously lived under a rock for too long. A grown adult is 21. 21 is the age of maturity when someone can completely fit in society. You keep telling my it's 30, but you're thinking of the age you enter your prime.
I dueled Corn once. I ran frognarchs at the time. Had him at less the 3000 lp left. I try to ss treeborn on my sb, he plays warning. When I try to ss treeborn again he tells me that I can’t because warning negated treeborn’s ss eff for the rest of the duel. Stupidly, I believed him and 2 turns later he won. And that’s the story about how Corn had to cheat to keep from losing to a “random”.
LOTS of top players do shit like this. Either feigning ignorance or making up rules on the spot to try to trick less experienced players. It pisses me off to no end.
My old friends used to cheat against me during middle school and I won only once, so one of them gave me their deck as an apology. I don't have the deck anymore unfortunately because it was lost when I moved to Florida 7 years ago.
That was way WAY back in the day. Cyber Stein Ultra Rare was a SJC Promo that sold for $11,000+ dollars. It was later re-released in Dark Beginnings 2 a short while before it got banned.
