Orig owner of a 2008 GT here. 87k miles. Garaged since new. How many miles? Looks to be high. Things wear out and break. If you don't replace them beforehand you'll have issues. All belts and hoses should be replaced every 50k miles. I've replaced all of mine and the radiator - no issues. If it sits in the sun most of the time the plastic will become brittle. When did the hood scoops fly off? Again it's a 14 year old car. Mine are still attached but I'm not driving it hard anymore. Never heard of any issues with the rear spoiler but again the sun never lets up and the heat will make the plastic clips and glue brittle. How did yours come off? The door wear looks rough and so would you after 14 years of opening and closing. Look for a headliner repair shop or someone who does interior seat repair. I had mine repaired when the glue finally gave out on the headliner and the cloth on the door panels. Those base G8 wheels don't look better then the stock GT wheels but it's your car. As far as a stock G8 being slow....well it's a 4000 pound 4-door sedan from 2008, it was quick for it's time and kept up with that class of cars at that time...the 5 Series BMW and Charger R/T. I drive a 17 392 Charger and yes it will walk the G8 but there aren't very many G8' GT''s out there anymore. Keep your ride up and get her back into shape...the value will continue to climb. Peace.
Fair comments and opinions but with the price of fuel skyrocketing maybe heavy engine mods can wait. Personally I prefer the nose that Holden fitted over the Pontiac front end. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺
One thing I hate about MY G8 is that every dork makes videos about the top things they hate about their G8, like a parrot, a sheep. cattle, puppets. ..Etc....
@@2.0carflock Im just saying..... The first guy to post a vid about top things hated about my ( insert car ) was creative. The rest are late to the game and copy cats. There are hundred of vids with the topic what I hate about my ( insert car ). Be creative and original and do a topic thats fresh vs burnt.
Thanks brother and ...Actually u are right....i keep forgetting how old this car is and yeah back then 355hp and 0-60 in 5.3 sec was considered FAST. Got any mods on your G8?
Really appreciate it brother will do and its pushing a little over 400hp but as of right now it has the stock suspension. Definitely looking at a few upgrades this summer
Also the interior handle how I fixed it for my mom was I took a curved needle and stitched back together... Mind you it is time consuming but it's held up for her for several months so far
There's a mod to put some sticky tape on the hood scoops to secure them and there's a company that will repair the stock spoiler if you want. I like what you did with the scat pack piece though! And if you can find them the '14-'15 Chevy SS wheels look great on a G8 and will clear brembos if you upgrade. G8's are made to mod! Ask Rick Crawford about his 9 second NA GT!
Yep, G8 Designs will fix the rear spoiler (assuming you are able to retrieve it when it falls off). They just fixed mine. It's now better than new. Price was really fair also.
Plan on getting a g8 are they hard to maintain and is it expensive to keep money is not really a issue it’s just I want something that I won’t have to consistently buy parts for as a daily
Honestly ive have my car for 5 years and barely had any issues. The only issues you run into are hood scoops and spoilers flying off but its a REALLY great car
Big mistake pulling up beside a vette, even with a cammed G8. The odds of getting smoked by anything 300+ or pounds lighter than a G8 is heavily likely without forced induction. Mine weights I'm guessing in the 4100+lb range but it's about as quick as a bolt on C6 ZR1
If u are new to the car scene......you dont need a turbo or supercharger to have a tune. Its tune becuz i have an intake, full exhaust and cam. You tune your car for things like ignition timing, air-fuel ratios, and overall improving the performance of your car.
@@2.0carflock There's a slight difference in the "V" on the wheel. It's hard to spot. The other difference is the size. CTS-V wheels are staggered, GXP's are not. 9" and 9.5" for the Caddy I think. I'm on my second GXP. The other nice thing about V wheels is they are easier to get!
I dont know how you were finding it slow compared to a 5l mustang with both being stock you should smoke the mustang , perhaps the mods that were done before you brought it didnt have a good tune to match, also the belt problem you mentiond i havent had an issue with that so mabe its a RHD only problem ? What dose bug me is the power stearig resivour leaking when you get on track and do some spirited driving , I put a bag on the power stearing now to stop leaks when on track. I noticed you mentiond it had 18's wheels stock so thats different to the Ausie V8 counterpart which has 19's , sounds like you all got ripped off their ,Sorry to hear that
You're wrong about the whole stock vs. stock idea between a Pontiac G8 GT and a 2013 5.0 Mustang. A G8 GT 361hp and almost 4000 lbs A 5.0 Mustang made no less than 412hp and was about 3700lbs Boss 302s made 444hp and were even lighter in weight, and popular mods for Mustangs of those years was swapping the intake manifold. Also, you missed hearing what he said He raced a 2013 Mustang and got smoked but after the headers and DOD delete and tune which may have included a Trans tune as well, it was then a different story(but he didn't say he won) (probably a more even race) and he never in the video specified that the Mustang was stock which it probably wasn't considering the G8 was already cammed for that 1st race and still got smoked. If the DOD wasn't deleted then the car wasn't even tuned accordingly and the cam without headers and no head work isn't adding much of a gain on a 6.0 motor like it would on a 6.2. Maybe 40hp if that without headers and it still got smoked by a 5.0 so I highly doubt the 5.0 was stock. Plus to consider what kind of cam is even in the G8 too
@@2.0carflock also u don’t gotta change out the whole door panel to fix the handles. iirc, the start unraveling becuz the material they used didn’t have extra slack but it can be tucked back in n glued. kinda like how the roof starts sagging, it’s cuz gm got lazy and didn’t give it any extra slack to be tucked
@@charlessynowiec3876 yeah my roof is even worst now..gonna change it up when it warms up. G8s are great but I agree..its a lot of things that could have been done better
