Impressed you knocked off so much time in 1 day. Just shows improving your driving skills can be far more beneficial than simply modding your car. Looking forward to next week's already!

Yeah, surprised myself to be honest! True, tuition will make you faster than any mod!

A great video... I recently done the same with an instructor lap. It was easily the best thing I done. I've found I enjoy the track much more now, as everything is much more stable and relaxed. Best of all when you have the points to work on in your head, you keep working on them each time.

Looking ahead was one of the single best tips I applied to my driving, you can judge steering, braking and speed so much more... excellent video mate cheers from new Zealand 😎😎😎

Wow, that was impressive! Twelve seconds, that's huuuuge! And the best, you shaved those seconds off with sweating of having fun, not because of hard modding work 😉 . Very interesting for me, those 5 tips, especially this with the 3 corner types. Keep going, the "3" in the lap time will fall

That was very impressive, suspect with more practice based on your learnings, the lap times will tumble. Trying to control the loading on the axels is a serious skill. Getting some expert training is a great car mod!

Really wish there were race tracks in western Canada, I’m in the prairies and all we got are 1 straight line track and one 1/2k oval. Seriously sad like what the fuck haha

In such a car, driver input will be the greatest impact. Stick Sabine in a standard car and she'd lap way faster than your average Joe in the same car modded!!

Nice video. I like the instructor's style. Did he correct your seating position or did that come with the new seat? At the beginning, with the old seat, I immediately noticed the difference in Gary's and your seating position relative to the steering wheel. Later in the video, it was much better.
@RoadandRacetv
@RoadandRacetv 5 лет назад
James did talk about seating position too. The 350Z has no reach adjustment on the steering wheel so it is what it is.

Great vid but I think the tyre pressures listed on the car are usually cold tyre pressures, so you don't need to let air out once they warm up as they'll be at their warm operating pressure after a short drive
@terrylessmann2274
@terrylessmann2274 Месяц назад
Yes, you do want to let air out as you drive. Start with factory specs when cold at start of 1st session. If car starts out w/ neutral handling but half way thru starts to push or understeer, you have too much air. Drop a cpl lbs immed after the session. Do you make it further into a session before pushing starts? Then drop another 1 or 2 lbs. When you go completely thru a session w/o getting understeer, you've found your ultimate hot pressure. That will be what you go down to after every session. You'll need to measure after every session because as the ambient and track temps rise during the day, you tire pressures will too, so you must keep reducing them so you stay at you desired / optimum pressure. Don't forget to add air when the day is done. BTW... impressive improvement and listening to an instructor is a great way to quickly improve.

Great video! I'm thinking of getting into trackdays myself. The main thing is I have an 11 year old fiesta ST and although I've addressed a few issues (water pump, Rear brake discs and pads, brake fluid change and a new exhaust) I'm afraid I'll bugger the car as its my only car. Have you ever had any issues post track day? Does anyone use there daily on trackdays?
@RoadandRacetv
@RoadandRacetv 5 лет назад
Thanks mate. The ST is a great little platform for track days. It just needs decent pads and fluid for the track. I've always tracked my only car and driven it home without problem.
@duckscrossingtheroad
@duckscrossingtheroad 5 лет назад
Yes no doubt its going to need a few mods, pads being the main one due to the heat and brake fade that comes with it. I'll leave it OEM for the moment but no doubt that wont last when I start getting on track. I look to your videos for inspiration, well edited and well informed.

I'm anticipating that will happen to me. Like you I've most maintenance items sorted. I'm planning on getting some track day instruction as I've no experience driving on track.

@hardykornfeld1733

12 seconds faster is roughly 10-12 mph faster average speed at most tracks. That’s immense. The next 5 seconds will be harder to find and after that you might need more training and a lot of track time to whittle that down 1 second at a time.

This is ridiculous, there are far more than 3 types of corners when it comes to racing. Furthermore, there are more than 3 types of corners on everyday roads. Title and clip are misleading and could be detrimental for inexperienced drivers.
@nikolaytsonev6446
@nikolaytsonev6446 2 года назад
Having rewatched the video I have noticed another misleading tip - while it is true that you should brake only once, there is no mention of the force that should be applied to the brake pedal. Experienced racing drivers would tell you that you must always start by applying 15-20% brake force in order to shift the weight of the car and "prepare" it for what's about to happen. In conclusion, that's a novice video, designed to receive views and likes without providing any constructive advice.
