THE TOP 5 WALL DRILLS TO DO AT HOME | Pickleball Drills 101

Wall Drills have been absolutely integral to the development of my game. Especially when I first started playing, I felt like my reaction time was always too slow, or I had so many errors. I didn't have anyone to drill with, so I accumulated a whole library full of drills that I can do by myself.

I enjoy watching your videos. It's awesome to have some drills to do at home -- catching the ball on the paddle. I have my Dink Master in my kitchen at the moment due to snow. Can't wait to get it outside where I can have room to try your drills.

Great video. I don't have a Dink Master, but I got a hard board and taped a line at 3ft (net) and 4ft (shoulder height line on Dink Master). Now I practice in my basement with it. I was doing dinks and volley punches, but you gave me some great new drills to add as well. Thanks for the great content Davis!

How far from the board should we be standing? I would assume 7 feet since that's where the kitchen line is. But judging from the board size, seems you are only 5-6 feet away. edit: should have watched until the end. Answer: 5 for Volleys, 6 for Dinks, 7 for Speedups.

Thanks! This is awesome. It's the best drill video for the Dink Master I've seen. I have ways to go to get to what you are able to do but I'm 100% convinced that doing the drills you've recommended here will help me tremendously. Please continue to make vides on solo drills. I know so many people who do not have a drill partners and could benefit from this.

About 30 days into Dinkmaster and its really helped me. Love the drills and you do improve with practice on these. Volleys/Volley dinks/Resets do improve and it seems to have helped with dropping. Keep the drills coming and how you use them. I built up to 30 volleys so relieved to hear 30 is enough in a set.

Hey Davis!! Love your content. Please never stop making stuff it helps my game so much!! I was just wondering what your dink board is made out of? I am going to buy the sticker, but want to know what your thoughts are on what to stick it to for the best / most realistic bounce back.

Hey thanks for the comment! The dink board is actually part of the set up they sent me. I would say the material is like a ping pong board material! Great feedback and bounce

Thanks Davis I built a wall that was 12 Ft long. I would raise my garage door and put it in place then bring the door down on it to make it very solid. My wall allows 2 players and we can also simulate cross court dink's. The wall absolutely helps your game. It was a great video. Thanks Rick

@richarddechau4200

@@edjupickleball It works awesome. we stand about 8 to 10 ft apart and we aim towards the center of the board. If you just hit center you do not have to move. But if you hit any thing other than center the second player has to start doing foot work to return the ball. It makes dinking on the wall like a real game.

Amazon pickleball training pad is about $30. It is a parachute material dink master that you can mount to the wall. Same look as dink master but just use your wall. Mine is 4 x 5 feet. I have thought about mounting it on plywood so I don’t have to worry about damaging my wall.

I've been eyeing the dinkmaster for a while but just can't afford one right now. I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment and hitting balls against the wall/floor is just too noisy for my neighbors--no where really outside to do wall drills either. Do you have any suggestions for practicing at home? I've been thinking about trying to hit against a baseball/softball type ball rebounder, but not sure if that would have a similar effect as the dinkmaster. What do you think?

I too have a Dink Master and your video is very helpful. Can you practice 3rd shot drops using it too?
@edjupickleball
@edjupickleball 8 дней назад
You can! I recommend angling your board upwards so that the ball can travel further back to you on rebound.

ED Appreciate your video. I am considering getting the Dink master for my garage. Is you garage in the video concrete? Would you consider getting a mat of some kind for the ball to land on? or would it absorb too much of the bounce? Looking forward to your wall videos and more!
@edjupickleball
@edjupickleball 5 месяцев назад
If your garage has concrete flooring that should a decent enough bounce! A mat might take away too much bounce.
@chubun6631
@chubun6631 4 месяца назад
So in pickleball, you don't split step or do small hops after every point like in tennis and table tennis? Will that result in lazy footwork in the long run especially for beginner?
@86309
@86309 6 месяцев назад
I got the Dink Master yesterday, because of your videos! I set it up inside ma garage, I have tape at 7 feet from the board, can you tell me the reason you are ever stepping closer than 7 feet? is it just to increase the speed of the return bounce so you have less time to prepare ? I just dont want to have negative training by being to close and hitting the net IRL. Also have you experimented with the lean angle of the board? Thanks for the inspiration! If you have any other drills please put them out there !
@edjupickleball
@edjupickleball 6 месяцев назад
Thats awesome! Closer to the wall = increased speed in which you need to be ready for the next ball. Makes it harder and mimics when your opponent hits faster balls. It wont be negative training.

I love the tips!! And I like that board because it's portable. Too bad it's "on sale" at $250 USD at Enhance Pickleball. Plus 40% exchange to Canadian. I don't see that much value in having a frame. Guess I'll buy the poster for $20 and build my own backboard.

I never played racquet ball tennis paddle ball ping pong anything that a lot of the players who are advance have played. The board is a dense particle board versus plywood. It is very well made and weighs over 50 pounds. Also has wheels you can use to move around or lock in place. You could build it yourself though.
@CyberSonic157

@@robertdavis6447 What does that mean for practical benefits while drilling though? Is it just longer lasting?
@robertdavis6447
@robertdavis6447 4 месяца назад
I don’t think the ball would bounce well off plywood. I think it has to be a pretty dense piece of wood, concrete, drywall, etc. I think you could buy a 3x4 piece of particle board an inch thick from Home Depot or similar.
