Spiff and RT: *two very successful RU-vidrs pouring their hearts out about how they looked up to Lewis and were inspiring by his work* Lewis: AY, YOU GUYS HEAR ABOUT THE RONALD REGAN FUNK POP?!
Lewis doesn't care for formalities and admiration, he instead (as a proper superstar) gives an insight to what makes Lewis tick, and that's a far better thing to receive from your inspiration than a simple thanks :)
And SOI. I often get the feeling from Lewis that he doesn't actually like their old series. I know it must be annoying to have everyone ask you to bring back things you did over ten years ago but he's shown in a few clips that he doesn't even remember the story of SOI much and tends to get a slightly irate tone in his voice whenever he's asked. Maybe if he'd finished it in the first place, he wouldn't have to deal with all the questions :P
It's why SOI got canceled too, and probably JaffaFactory and Moonquest as well Certainly why he ditched the Red Shirt skin for weird pirate jacket lmao
@@EzekiesAcheron Create is a tech mod that runs on the idea of moving parts. No magic boxes, instead you have a bunch of parts that can be put together to achieve a purpose. One of the biggest gimmicks it has is moving block constructs, in several different forms, all of which can be made practically useful. For building a massive door, you'd just need to build one such assembly on a mechanical bearing, which would allow it to turn in place, but the mechanical bearing could also be used to make, say, a quarry, or a tree or plant harvester. It also allows for the construction of multi-block structures that can be attached to one or more minecarts, allowing for fully customizable trains or trams or whatnot, or a tunnel borer, or etc. Create is an absolute marvel of a mod and I adore it. Edit: here's the trailer for the mod itself: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jDIuWv7ROi8.html And here's the trailer for the fairly new Create-centric modpack made by the mod's creators themselves: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YicXdyDFWuw.html
@@EzekiesAcheron Seriously there is a video the creator of that mod who made a massive structure... That made cake. But it had flipping walls, spinning rooms, fancy mechanisms, etc.
i was actually hoping for a legit reason bcos i loved that series like many of the other series with special places in my heart. funny clip tho.. still want answers lol or even better a return
If you think about it most if not all of the "scripted" and "linear" content of the yogscast is now gone. I think that first of all it's just not profitable anymore and second it would take too much of them nowadays to make content like that
I completely forgot about the series until this popped in my recommended, truly was a great series and I loved waiting for a new episode as an early teen
@@zoroasper9759 That would make sense if they had stopped making them when RU-vid really started to fuck it up for content creators. I think the last five was in 2016 and the money side of things didn't really take grasp until the year after. I'm guessing here but I'm assuming a lot of the people who used to source, test and construct the "maps" either left or stopped doing them for insert reason. I know FyreUK used to make a load of the maps for Yogscast series and they left I think the late end of 2016, I don't think it's really a coincidence that things slowly slowed and then stopped. I seem to remember Ben and Tom saying that Lewis told them that he didn't need them to work on Yoglabs projects in 2016. So I just think it was a slow ball of many things that led to those sorts of projects to be stopped, I think also it was around that time where some of the members were getting tired of playing Minecraft all the time. I think this timeline map perfectly capture just that. Their last proper series was in 2016/early 2017 in the form of Minecraft Kingdoms and the second to last series was Whale Lords. i.redd.it/oyuuf4r9tv051.png
I’m pretty sure it’s just a combination of a lot of reasons The Yogs moving away from Minecraft, scripted content becoming less popular, Simon wanting to step back from the channel back then and of course all the work that would have had to go into finding new interesting mods, getting the mods to work together, planning and scripting the video and building what they need not to mention that that’s all before they even film, edit and upload it In the time it would take them to do one episode of Yog Labs they can probably make ten of something like TTT
Funko Pops are are absolutely god-awful though. I can just about accept the ones of aliens, monsters or other unusual non-humans (or masked humans), but all the ones that are just a person in some clothes (i.e. the majority of them), have no redeeming value whatsoever.
We need to kidnap Simon, so we could relaunch the SOI & YogLabs on our own. Then Lewis and the gang have no choice but to join in and save Simon from being able to complete the timelines.
I think Ben would insta-veto Yogscast Funko pops-- at least of him. He did a whole rant about how ugly they are on a TTT video a while ago. It was heated if I remember correctly. Edit: Found the video. It's called "Shrek in 20 seconds or less"
Speaking of niche Funko Pops, the only one that I own is one of Queen Elizabeth II that came with a corgi. I saw Ashens give a review of one and it was so strange I had to get one.
I thought it was because Simon just got sick of playing Minecraft or something, I also thought that’s why we still haven’t had a follow up survival series to Hole Diggers
The real reason it got canned was probably some differences between Lewis and Simon. They stopped working together sometime in their Foundation series.
I think there was a GMOD video where two of them said building new yoglabs rooms was a pain in the ass because someone chose to make the walls out of crafting tables.
If my knowledge is vaguely correct, Ridgedog was a key player in setting up the maps for a while. Aside from that, I guess cuz they veered away from Minecraft.
There are a variety of reasons. They needed to first find interesting mods, then get staff to create the rooms, lab setting & environment setup. Then they had to write the script and test everything. This is a ton of work and since half of the original members involved are gone now, wouldn't be surprised if Sjin was instrumental in getting the build setup, and the other half had a declining interest in playing Minecraft it just doesn't seem overly feasible economically. I'm sure many would gladly welcome it but it just seems like too much is going on at the moment.
@@donb7519 The Yogs dropped Ridgedog as a content partner after he was caught in a legal case involving child support. Now Sips and Sjin are gone, Simon is no longer funny and Lewis is going insane. Nothing left to do except watch it die.
Aside from the Yogs related reasons, the Minecraft community isn't what it was back then. Not that many quality mods are created nowadays and hardly any custom maps are released. Gone are the days when you could browse Minecraftforum and download a different custom map every day. The community has gotten a log younger, so creators are geared more towards making custom minigames and servers instead.
While I agree with the maps, the idea that no quality mods are being made is just nonsense. There are so many ridiculously insane mods that could still be covered in Yoglabs.
@@goji253 Which is why I wrote "not that many". Spend a week on any of the popular mod sites and you'll maybe get one new mod a week, when you'd get one new mod every few hours back in 2011
@@xx575564xx A lot of which were shit and didn't stand the test of time either really. Not every mod was like a new Botania, Twillight Forrest or NEI. Yes modding was much more active in that time, but there was also way more low-effort stuff in it.
@@goji253 Sure, but there was at least a few quality mods every week, compared to now, where you're lucky to get even one normal mod, shit or not, a week. Yoglabs wasn't about showcasing the high effort, world changing, dimension adding mods, it was about showcasing mods period. Cannibal cows instantly comes to mind when writing this comment.
@@xx575564xx Weeellll.... looking at the playlist most of the mods they reviewed were rather high effort. Some of them are classics to this day. There are the occasional joke mods too, but it's not like those died out either. Also "a few quality mods every week" seems like one hell of an exaggeration. Minecraft modding was at the height of its quality in 1.7.10 I'd argue. And even then 90% of the mods being released were just kinda meh.
Lewis just fucking blatantly ignoring the remarks and comments about yogslabs. Kinda has me dying. I'm sure yoglabs and more than likely Shadow of Israphel are still a sore spot for the Yogscast and for the members that have been since those series. And I still don't think they have ever given a concrete answer to why those series ever came back
we got the legit reason for soi and it was sadly in a way a casualty of yogscast expanding and server corruption issues plus issues getting an animation done
So, me having zero clue wtf funko pops are, is that because I’m just a boomer or is there something obscure I missed recently? I’d never heard of it before this stream (also wtf is a v-tuber?)
Ok so after some intense googling Funko pops are weird dolls and vtubers are streamers that use filters to look like a cartoon character. That’s info for lazy boomers like me, and both the above are dumb in my opinion i feel I’ve lost valuable brain cells reading about them
I have a feeling you’re trolling but because I’d never heard of funkopops before this stream I’ll take the chance you aren’t: Yog Labs was a series on the Yogscast main channel a few years back where they did minecraft mod spotlights with a twist, and funkopops are collectible dolls that weebs put on their shelves for some reason I’ll never understand
@@phraggers Ah. thanks! I'm not really that invested in Yogscast, only watch them occasionally. There are many references I don't get... in some streams they use that word Bleb for example. When I was younger, I was more aware of recent trends, I guess I lost quite a lot of interest, too many things these days. This funko pops trend flew complety past me.
I mean, when they're part of a network that includes the people they're taking clips of, and I'm fairly sure being working *for* the guy whose facecam is in the bottom right...I don't see the ethical issue there
He is officially a member of the yogscast to post highlights and fanclips. And the yogscast have said they don't mind other non-official fan channels anyways.
