Why we suck is actually very, very simple. Horrible 3 pt shooting and horrible wing defense. Our team was deadly from the 3 in previous years, and I understand that we lost Gallo and Red Velvet, but Nate also forced this team to solely work on 2's this offseason, which is why Trae had to work with Steph on his 3's. Nate forcing the team to do that ruined what made this team so potent, and that is being able to punish collapsing defenses while running the pnr. Having a reliable shooter to kick out to when Trae draws the defense to the paint. I don't have to explain why our wing defense is bad, it's basically just a shoot around.
Good analysis bro. Hawks perimeter defense truly sucks, especially when trae, bogi and JC both play on the same time. But after Hawks get Dejounte, that's solved the Hawks problem on SG/PG position.
bucks fan here a day later after one of the greatest tragedies in basketball history. Crying, cant sleep, suckin on a binky, and the doc just told me I have stage 4 cancer, otherwise known as the life of a bucks fan. That being said...I give my best wishes to the underdogs of this playoff season: Beam City, Bing Bong Village, and the nest of the ice cold, "beautiful hairy lollipop" known as Trae Young! Bucks fans, I love you, I appreciate you, and stay strong in these hard months ahead.
I used to see Trea before he got to the NBA , i was so hyped so to see him when he got drafted , the day i saw him have a break out game , i felt like a proud friend hyping up a NBA star 😢😂😂
The thing is Trae often shots his own team of the game because of his random deep over the defender threes, after which usually opponents go on a fastbreak with easy points. I would understand if was like 40%3pt shooter, but brotha shot 33% during season and PO...
His efficiency is actually so underrated. his TS% this season was higher than every single season of Kobe's career except 2007 and 2008, every season of Allen Iverson's career, every season of TMac and Russ's career, yet people bring up his efficiency as an argument against his greatness. Since when was 26/10/3 on 57% TS a bad player?
@@thasCrazy364 it's almost as if those people aren't beacons of efficiency and called shot chuckers their entire career (sometimes for good reason). Also those players actually heavily contributed to winning which trae really couldn't do
@@AKalam-wp7wu His TS% this year is also higher than MJ's career average and he was known for his efficiency lol Kobe, Iverson, Russ, Tmac all were still all-star NBA players when they weren't able to carry their teams to high seeds (for example Kobe at his peak in the years he had bad teammates), the "contribution to winning" argument is dumb bcuz it hasn't applied to players in the past
@@thasCrazy364 i ain't arguing Trae is a great player, I just assume if he was a bit more smart about his shot selection, Hawks offence and defence would benefit a ton
He shoots better on deep 3s than short 3s. He's 34% from deep and that's the best in the league this season. His overall 3P% is 33%. Those shots are not bad.
Trae can never be a #1 option on a successful contending team. Doesn’t have the size, efficiency, shot selection, or iq. But, if he learns how to manage his game a little bit more and increase his iq. He could be a leader of a great team with another star. But, that’s a what if.
Trae Young has been voted the most overrated player in the NBA, according to an anonymous poll of 54 NBA players, also the worst defender in the league
Hawks are out of their minds if they trade Trae. This Atlanta team is just not enough to win anything. He's not the kind of guard that should be averaging 30 ppg. Pair him with a great big man, some 3 and D players, let the man average 22 and 10 and i bet they will be better.
I love Trae and would love to keep him but I'm sick of him not playing defense. Also, his offensive style requires him to always have the ball which makes it hard to run an offense. However, he is one of the clutches player in the NBA and I hope he begins to play offball like Steph. If we have to trade him, what do you think about Trae for Suggs, Carter jr, and two picks?
He is literally middle of the pack in defense this year. He worked his way up from the single worst defender to middle of the pack. He is a solid defender and plays the passing lane very well, the narratives won't allow people to see that though.
bro nah i hoop clippers dont trade for him, bones fits in good and he shifty asf bro terrance is more of a keeping the team in check and eric gordon is kinda a defense guy
We were trash because of Dejounte, Jon, and deandre. Deandre is self explanatory. He’s just garbage. Every time he touches the ball he fumbles it. John for some reason can’t shoot even though his stroke is good. He’s also uncoordinated in the post and loses the possession. Dejounte is more complicated because he is so hot and cold. When he plays well he’s a bucket, but he goes on these 2 month periods where he can’t shoot at all. We are also the worst team in the 4th quarter. Trae has been carrying the team. His plus minus is only behind like Steph giannis and jokic. The hawks should trade dejounte, probably for siakam, Paul George, or Zach Lavine. I’d prefer lavine because he is a bucket in the 4th quarter, and you can just let him iso and he’ll get the 2 points. Jalen Johnson and aj griffin aren’t played enough either. Jalen is a great passer and playmaker. He makes the offense run smoothly. Aj is a phenomenal shooter, and he is a perfect fit for the roster.
When Goober said “You are slow in the head if you think Trae is the 12th best guard” I was thinking that does not sound that out of place. If you look at the guards in the NBA it's probably Guards that are almost definitely higher than him: Steph Luka Booker Morant Lillard Guards that are probably equal to Trae: Kyrie Harden Mitchell Lavine Shai And even a few guards that you could make an argument for, such as Holiday, Edwards and Ball. I am not at all a Trae hater or a Hawks hater. Trae is probably for me around 5-10 guards right now, I just did not think that 12 sounded THAT outlandish.
@@Josh-yk9uf Ah shit, you right mate. Completely missed him saying east. Ye, Trae being 12th in the EAST is far too low for me. Thanks for clearing it up! And ye, I was mostly going for the fact the Grizzlies had the second seed in the west and people seem to rank Morant higher in general. I don't really have a strong opinion on that matter.
@@dirtybrandon4769 Ye that's kinda the point, you could ARGUE that, like there is also an argument to be made that he is 12th in the entire league. But as my mate previously corrected me about, there is no way Trae is 12th in the east. Trae is insanely good and those supposed trade deals that Goober showed in the video are just insulting.
We were terrible defensively - Trae's fault. Ass from three point land - Trae's fault. You can't pick out the teams two biggest flaws and then ignore the fact that he is the biggest contributor to those flaws. Trae's a good player but he needs a lot of help around him to cover his deficiencies. If you honestly think Trae + some help can win a ring you need your head examined.
how are they trae's fault? 2021, they had the 11th best defense with trae. how did they do it? and the 3rd best defense in the playoffs! so his team's overall defense getting worse isn't him when he didn't get worse. his shooting splits are bad, sure, but he's literally taking the hardest shot in the league. typically, when you look at the stats, his %s are mid, but his team's is great because he gives them the best shot after being the focus of the defense and schemes. he has a lot of turnovers but atl consistently have a top 3 least turnovers committed last few seasons... cause his teammates are under less pressure on the ball. he's still basically the same as the 2021 season.
dejounte, hunter, bogi, jc, aj all contrabuited to our bad defense as to our 3p% dejounte justin holiday jalen and of course jc could be blamed for the ass 3p% although trae really does need to be more efficient from there
Trae just isn’t very good and defenses know this.. They know he’s gonna chuck up shots and if he averages shooting 40% from the field it doesn’t matter..
