Always cool to get recommended a channel that covers niche topics, so lemme contribute some engagement to help with the RU-vid algorithm. I've played Atelier Resleriana and I can wholeheartedly agree with your issues with Atelier Resleriana after quitting and realizing I just wasn't having fun (despite being used to playing a lot of gacha games) due to how the whole game just feels like a lobotomized Atelier title. The main issues plaguing the game genuinely feels kinda baffling to me due to most of the problems being something I feel recent gacha games have solved (an almost universal price point for spending actual money on rolls, a better premium currency economy for people who don't spend much or at all, menus that don't have needless animations that take too much time, general ui design for phones that looks pretty, readable and most of all tells you the right details you need which the targeting system on enemies in this game doesn't have) and instead feels like it's trying to go after gacha game designs that are from the mid 2010s and it honestly feels like they've started to course correct with how they appear to be adjusting the in game economy now, but that just doesn't feel enough to fix the overall issues I think the game has considering how unfun the synthesis feels. At least it gave us the school event which was an interesting concept and makes me kinda want to see an Atelier game set in a modern day setting, and Resla is genuinely a likeable character unfortunately trapped in a gacha game. Oh wait you talking about Resleriana was just minor segment and this whole video is about Atelier Annie. Annie is very cute and tomboys are indeed very cool! But for real, this was a really nice video on Annie, and it's always cool to hear about these older titles since I don't think I'd have the time to go through them.

I liked the kingdom building aspect of Meruru, so this could be interesting

"low stakes Dragon Quest by way of Harvest Moon wrapped around a great crafting system" That's a great way to describe Atelier, the way I usually describe it sounds like a modern isekai title: Chilling in a fantasy world with a pseudo chemistry degree and an adventurer's license

Oh gosh. My childhood game ❤❤❤ Atelier Annie was my first Atelier game. I had a hard time playing it as a kid. I went back to it during the pandemic. Made me realize why I love the game bcs I like the early 2000s anime artstyle and love the 2D style. Had fun doing the alchemy and guild jobs. The characters r so funny especially their dialogue. The character designs r fun and memorable. Fun music. The story feels more like slice of life and when u mentioned the Atelier series is like Harvest Moon makes so much now why I love it. I grew up with Harvest Moon Back to Nature and Hero of the Leaf Valley. Anyway when I played Atelier Annie again during the pandemic, it was so fun and made realize how to do the business part of the game better. Btw I got the Royal Alchemist ending 👍After getting that ending, I'm afraid of playing the other Atelier games bcs Atelier Annie is so nostalgic for me and fits into my taste of artstyle, music, the voice acting, and character designs along with gameplay. If anyone have a suggestion for me to play a different Atelier game that is similar to Ateliar Annie. Let me know! Sorry for the long comment. I emulated this game on my phone back when I had no means of playing the other titles. And I really liked it, the interactions between characters were fun and the gameplay simple enough to keep me engaged. So it was a surprise that nobody talks about it online, the game really deserves more. Also, Annie's va being the same as Kafuka from Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei makes her my favorite atelier protagonist lol

With Gust making remake of Marie, would be nice if maybe the earlier games can get the same treatment, including Annie. But I might have my hopes too high for that. Also, good video. I'm guessing Annie isn't a hard game?

I just started playing this game you said everything that I love about this game. I am really enjoying myself.

I loved Atelier Annie. My favorite things about it were the characters, and their interactions, as well as the various endings you could get. I must've played and replayed it a dozen times, but still never managed to vary my playstyle enough to get EVERY type of ending. Before this game, the only entries in the Atelier series I'd played were Atelier Iris 1 and 3 back on the PS2. I'd love to see this get some sort of rerelease, or an updated port. Some kind of treatment to how games like Rune Factory 3/4 got would be neat, too, I think.

This was my first Atelier game and despite its issues, got me into the series which is now my all time favourite! Liked and subscribed :)

I think part of the issue is Annie is very "old skool" Atelier which - personally at least - it's taken me time to appreciate. Looking back now it has a lot of similarities with the original PS3 release of Rorona - the original release had no indicators that going to a certain part of town would trigger a special character event and Annie is also like this. People see the crafting system, the small amount of locations and I think they just throw the towel in a bit early. I remember people complaining about Anne being one of the weakest series protags as well, I actually think her being motivated by greed/laziness is pretty unique in a series full of protags with fairly noble intentions. But despite that she actually becomes quite charming and sweet. I think people just get irritated by the initial premise and the fact it's mostly menus only.

I can't wait to see you cover other Atelier games. 15:30 I never watched that one, but one old anime I liked in the summertime was Zatch Bell, the anime never finished it because I think the mangaka had an injury, but after a small delay he finished the manga. It was one of the earlier animes I liked so much that I read the manga. One Piece was amazing back in the day too, I can't imagine people nowadays watching it, I marathoned and watched 100 episodes over one summer when it was in Alabasta to catch up to it and nowadays people have to watch 1000+ episodes, though I prefer the manga nowadays too.

I love the game, but yeah, even when it came out you could barely find people talking about it. Maybe it was like that since everyone on the ps3/xbox 360 era could only think about how portable games were inferior to console releases (which is kind of dumb, since a lot of ds games are better than a lot of the copy/paste shooters from that era).

Atelier Annie is legitimately my favorite Atelier game! How? No idea. Why? Couldn't explain it. But it is! It's utterly unique in the Atelier lineup and something about it just hit RIGHT for me

Atelier Annie was my first non-Iris Atelier game, I remember being so confused by the tonal and gameplay shift. Still, I have my game with case and book to this day and literally just dusted it off a few weeks ago. Cool to see some one online talking about it.

I wonder if we will ever see any of the DS games character in resleriana, they made a small appearence in nelke so gust hasn't Totally forgot about Them. Resleriana has so much potential as a way to get ppl interested in older characters so i hope that gust realizes this and uses some events as a way to tease some remakes. It's been an interesting experience getting into the franchise via Resleriana. As far as gacha games, it's definitely one of the higher quality ones with a very obvious amount of love and care put into it. However so much of the series veterans reject it outright simply for being a F2P Gacha game. Everyone has their own preferences so I don't judge them for that, but it always feels like it's just a rejection of gacha games due it's negatives without bringing up the positives - namely that it's free and that, due to it being a living game, it's much easier to have live and active communities around them. Similar to MMOs, but obviously on a more casual level. Shortly after playing Resleriana I tried picking up Ryza and Ayesha, taking the advice of everyone telling me to play a "real" Atelier game...and honestly I couldn't get into them at all. I'm not sure if it's a psychological block or what, but paying full price for these JRPGs and having to run around an open world where nothing is really happening didn't really compute in my head. It just felt weird to have so much gameplay depth for such a casual, fluffy atmosphere and story. Meanwhile, I stuck with Resleriana and slowly but surely ended up falling in love. Early on I had the same issues with it - story seemed boring, lot of characters just talking about fluff, no real stakes...I was constantly fast clicking through dialogue trying to get to the next scene because I was so bored. At least it was easy enough to auto through battles and get through said story. But by the later chapters I finally...got it. Like it clicked. The stakes don't have to be big. We don't have to be the chosen heroes. It's perfectly okay to actually have fun adventuring and just chatting with our companions and having a grand ol' time crafting and doing alchemy. I still plan on getting into the "real" Atelier games, especially because Resleriana has so many events and characters from the other games that interact with each other and drop little story bits (plus includes some of the music. Atelier has some great music across it's entire franchise! I had no idea!). But I can pretty confidently say that if it wasn't for Resleriana I would have never, ever gotten into this series. I'm sure there will be cheers from the community if/when Resleriana ends of service, but I personally hope it sticks around for a while to come. I've come to really care for these characters and in a world where gacha games are very much taking over the gaming landscape, I want us to have more options then the far more predatory alternatives of Genshin Impact/Honkai Star Rail.
