Before Saturday Night Live, late-night talk shows, or sitcoms, there was The Three Stooges. The Three Stooges were a comedy team that worked from 1922 to 1970 and were known for their pioneering slapstick humor.
Moe Howard's namesake Stooges character was famous for his distinctive bowl haircut and domineering personality. Howard went on to become one of the most celebrated comedic stars of his time, but his life from minstrel and vaudeville shows to television star wasn't easy, especially at the end of his life. Here are the details of the tragic death of Moe from The Three Stooges.

Where to start?! Haha! I simply adore the gigantic heart he must have had to care for his brother that way. We are going through something similar with my parents and my brother and I simply won't let them go to a home. I would want to stay home in my last years on this Earth too! I can't imagine how sad it would be to not be able to go home.

I can't believe they died, and I can't believe Moe died just a few months after my Dad was born. So sad. But their legacies will live on for years to come. Rest in Peace Larry, Curly, Moe, and Shemp.

My favorite scene is the one where they are trying to fix a doorbell. Moe is on one end of the wire inside the house and Larry and Curly are outside. They start pulling the wire at both ends so Moe, being outnumbered two to one, gets pulled into the wall. At first all you see is his legs sticking back out. Then as he's pulled in further a big beam comes down and lands on his head. Then when he finally emerges Larry & Curly think he's a giant cockroach and try to kill him.

Not a cockroach, but “A Gopher!”, Moe’s mouth being full of wall plaster making it look like he had big teeth.

I too have a collection that has most of their material. I’d watch it all in an instant. My father and two brothers would watch them while we ate dinner. Best times fond memories. And then of course the 3 of us. We knew all the best lines. And still quote them.

Moe handled the Stooges’ finances and made sure they didn’t squander it. He really was a good man.

We would watch them in the morning before we went to school. Between classes, kids were being poked in the eyes and windmill punched in the head. Good times.

Everything I ever learned about life comedy was the answer. The THREE STOOGES were my earliest muses. Shemp was my favorite. I always thought Moe on the Simpson's was modeled after him. His best scene was with W C Fields and was portrayed as a bartender. Fields walks in and asked him if he was in the bar last night and did he spend a $20 bill. Shemp says yeah and Fields says oh that's wonderful, I thought I'd lost it.

To some people, The Three Stooges are just a bunch of guys who did nothing but slapped and hit each other, but to the true Three Stooges fans, they are a way of life👍
@freeguy77
@freeguy77 4 года назад
They had very good comedy writers who wrote many good lines, puns, gags, and other plot devices besides the slapping! The Stooges were not a one trick pony, but had numerous ways of getting laughs: demolishing the upper class's haughtiness and their wealth, sympathizing with the common man, out of work in the Depression years, and then fighting the Nazis and Japanese in the war years, to the excitement of post-war America in the move to the suburbs from the inner cities. The Stooges were the ultimate film actors in documenting the culture and growth of America for 24 critical years in their 190 short films (1934-57)! And don't you forget it!

@@freeguy77 Agree with much of what you say....except, if you watch one of their shorts, any one of them, and close your eyes for a few minutes, you hear the never ending cacophony of the sound effects of them physically abusing each other - clearly this is the element that stands out in any of the shorts and defines them.

Well, I agree with you - but as an English fan of Moe Howard and the Stooges, and only 7 years younger than Moe was when he died, it was still too soon to lose him.
@ltdee1970

49jubilee I am so sorry to hear that. I was not trying to downplay dying from lung cancer, I feel sad that anyone has to suffer like that it’s just he lived a long life doing something he loved, so it should be celebrated not tragic life of death of Moe Howard
